Not exactly a bug, but I noticed when using the Game On skin, page numbers for threads are nigh on illegible. Same for stats under your avatar in XFStop and XFStopFluid
-edit-
By the way, is there currently a way to change user titles?
-edit again-
Also, something kinda funky going on with avatar sizes.

Yeah. Sorry. Right now I can't do too much due to rebuilding the search index. It's why the site is crawling a bit, too.
#4

Oh, an Ame sighting! Hope things are going well
#5
Dave
The reason things are getting fixed so fast is because she's here. She wasn't going to be available on the 3rd.

A couple of things I noticed pretty quickly. This is all with the DARK THEME, Game On so I don't know if this affects other people in other profiles (though you could setup a normal test user to test these things out)
- Posts seem to be cropped in half. For example, if the posts above I see :
But like halfway into the post with a huge empty chunk in the middle instead of being cropped at the bottom.
- The forums seem to have forgotten to remember how to keep forum categories preferences again. For example, I don't want to see the Archives I press the collapse button. Next refresh, it's open again. What did we do to fix this last time?
- The mouseover to see the pages on threads as already requested is a great idea... furthermore on this theme, I cannot see beyond a red box what actual page it is. The rest is too dark or the text too subtle. A change would be good there as well.
#7
Dave
Game on needs work, huh? When we're finished rebuilding the search caches I'll work on each individual style.
#8
Wahad
Some forums do not allow me to go to the latest post directly. If I go to the subforum first and then access the thread, it works fine. So far this has occurred in the Ask Dave and Jay subforum and the Knights of Caerbannog subforum. the Games subforum was unaffected, as was this one, but I haven't tried others yet.
#9
Jay
XenForce? I have no such option.
#10
Jay
I have all but XenForce.
#11
Jay
I got nothing but a white page. Perhaps the default template. I went back to Game On so my eyes don't bleed.
You may want to test with a "temp account", on say another browser on your system. The template is not on my list still.
#12
Jay
I see it now and I like the blue better than the red. However this theme one thing the red had... wide screen support. Which is really important! The forums are too skinny now and I have 6 inches on each side that isn't being used for anything.
Is still in the middle of the post instead of the bottom if the post is a bit too short!
#13
Dave
Most of these are set up as set limit styles. I can always make them Fluid.
#14
Jay
Here you go. I highlighted the issues for you.
1 - Sides are too small on main menu. Causes cropping issues in circles. Also "fellowships" are in black text, which doesn't allow you to read their names. I also CANNOT collapse any categories at ALL with this skin. I'm doomed to see the archives!
2 - Red is Game on and Blue is XenForce. One is edge to edge (wide) and the other is half page (too thin), if any options are available, an inbetween would be awesome. Both have the same issue where if the post is short, it crops the LIKE data (in green circles) in the middle of the post.
I remove people sigs and use the latest version of Firefox. In that print screen I run with no mods and I'm currently gonna check out how it runs with IEXPLODE.
The thing where it moves the "like / reply" stuff higher is "working as intended". Because you have signatures disabled you are more likely to run into that with one word replies.
That's a shame. I already worked without signatures because our rules for them were far too lax (too big, too many, too annoying) but removing them was a simple solution in the past. With this new forum if it were to be working as intended, it's clearly inferior. So the choice I'll have would be to either allow annoying sigs or deal with the broken cropping.
I can see the logic of that. Though I clearly appreciate the effort to put a dark theme right away so that our eyes aren't being raped by a sea of whiteness.
Let us know when you get to that on the TO DO list.
#16
Jay
Well your help is always appreciated. Added at: 18:36
Meh, even with sigs it does it.
Just wanted to let Dave know that existing quote chains seem to be broken.
#18
Dave
If you are talking multi-quoting, it's a known thing that may or may not be fixed in the system. XF apparently doesn't like big quote trees.

Out of curiosity, how are messages counted? Mine says I have about 2,000, but last I recall I had somewhat more than 700. Just wondering if the stats are borked.
#20
Dave
I did extensive testing before I ported everything over. This testing included several imports of vB information. What I did NOT notice when calling the tests a success was that it totally messed up the post counts/trophy points/etc.
I'm gonna be turning them off in a bit until I get them fixed.
#21
MindDetective
I went to the Secret Santa thread, jumping to the end as it normally does. I then realized I wanted to read the page before, so clicked on page 5. I read through that page and then clicked the back button. The page errored with something like this
Fatal error: Method XenForo_BbCode_TextWrapper::__toString() must not throw an exception in/home/davidn/public_html/xenforo/library/simpleaudiovideoembeder/ViewPublic/simpleaudiovideoembeder.phpon line40
I returned again (page forward) and scrolled to the top, where I clicked on "next page", where I received the error message again (I assume it is the same. The one above is the one I copied). Then I refreshed the page and all was normal.
#22
Dave
Fixed. Stupid video embed program I'm working on is borked.
#23

My profile currently says I have no likes and no points. Oh, and 5 messages I don't have.

Yeah and I zeroed them all out and am trying to find a way to get them to recalculate correctly. So far no go. When we find a way I'll blow them away again and recalc.
#28
Krisken
Ah, ok. Thanks Dave. I seem to recall I had roughly 4k on the old board before moving here. (I had just knocked Espy out of the top 10 posters).
I had to zero them out because I did extensive testing on the import and didn't realize that it added them together each time. So 4K went to 8K went to 12K....
#30
Krisken
Hah, I was wondering how that happened!!! Now that makes sense.
#31

Youtube videos won't always load for me. Not sure if there's a common denominator, but sometimes it's a screenshot of the video plus a play button, and sometimes it's just a white rectangle.
EDIT: Oh, and for what it's worth, Chrome for OSX 10.6 with adblock.
#32
Tress
Sometimes when I click on a thread, I just get kicked back out to the main forum page. Krisken's "4 Arizona Republicans" thread is the latest example. I can't read it at all, I just get sent back out to the front page for the forum.

Weird. I just clicked on that and read it. How often does this happen? What browser you using (so I can test)?
#34
Krisken
That happened to me the other day for a thread in General. After an hour it finally let me enter the thread. I figured it was unique to me and didn't make a fuss since it corrected itself.
#35
Tress
It just started last night, and I ignored it thinking it would just be a random error. Then it happened again just now, so it has only happened twice. I'm using firefox.
#36

So am I. If I encounter it again I'll post it now that I know it isn't a singular event.

I can't get into that one either. Firefox.

That happens to me with Krisken's thread, and FLP's 7 Billion thread. I assumed the OP's deleted the thread after posting, and got left over as some weird artifact. I'm using Chrome (8.0.552.224). Just checked with Firefox (3.6.13), and I had no problems.
#39
Dave
So there's something definitely going on. But pinning this one down might be interesting. Let me start combing through logs...
#40
drifter
Huh. When I checked before with Firefox and was able to view the thread, I wasn't logged in. I just logged in with Firefox, and was bounced to the Forums page.
-edit-
Same deal with Chrome; once I logged out, I was able to view the thread.
#41
Dave
Error logs have nada. Hmmm.
#42
Krisken
The plot thickens!
You can do it, Sherlock Dave.
#43
Dave
I'm looking into a bug report that might be the same thing. I just need to figure out where to apply the fix if one is presented.
It might have to do with the fact that the entire first post is a link.
#44
Krisken
Oh ho!
#45

Do image tags not work behind spoilers? Made a post in the Minecraft thread, and the pics aren't showing, but the pics show up in the 'edit post' box.
-edit-
Never mind, Dave. Apparently, changing the text in the spoiler fixes the issue.
#46
Dave
That'll be a moot point after the upgrade today.
In addition, the spoiler tags are an addon as they are not native to XF. So even if they were broken, XF would not help fix them.
#47
Jay
I cannot see my text since this morning when I post. This is highly annoying.
XF Darkness Added at: 14:01
I'll prolly find the motivation to find where it borked the colors without asking to, in the theme settings.
#50
Dave
So fix it.
#51
Krisken
In the Flexile Dark- Red theme everything is all farked up. It is writing black in the text spot, the colors indicating which threads are new changed from red to black and the unchanged from light red to gray, and the search bar now covers up the Alerts and other stuff on the right hand side.
Someone is borking the themes up.
Edit: Nevermind. I just found out it is Jay's "improvement".
#52
Tress
Whatever the fuck just happened to the default colors, undo it. Red on burgundy on orange is an eyesore.
#53
Krisken
Ok, I can't see what I'm writing. Cock shit fuck..
I switched to Zenforce so I didn't have to see the shitty changes being made to the other theme I was using.
#54
Baerdog
What the heck happened to XFStopFluid?
#55

Beta 6 worked great...but all of the Styles were affected as it changed some stuff in the core css.
I'm going to have to lock some down until they fix them.

Of course the one with pastel pinks and blues is the one that makes it through relatively intact.
#57

The post formatting toolbar is broken in the DXF and XenForce styles. Most of the icons are missing, though the buttons seem to still be there.
#58
Jay
I posted on their forums because I don't see why the fuck the text is black. It seems they updated code and unless you know EXACTLY where they changed shit, you're going to be looking for awhile and I'd like not to think till the weekend. Added at: 23:36
Also the collapse categories is totLLY BORKED TOO.
#59
Krisken
Not only that, but I can't see the bold/italic/other options available. Some one should get a kick in the crotch for fracking this up.
#60
AshburnerX
Anyone else having their posting boxes full of nothing but blackness? I can't see what I'm typing!
#61
Krisken
Yes, typing is hell. I highlight what I wrote to see if I fucked up. I also can't use italics, bold, or other options since I can't see the boxes.
#62
Dave
Due to broken badness I'm going to disable all styles but default and Jay's. They will come back but only after the style authors fix them for Beta 6.
#63

I just got forced back into XenBlue. Only other skin choice atm makes the text entry box black.
#64

I thought Jay was fixing that! Added at: 11:36
I'm looking into it. I am on a mission!!
#65

It would be easier to fix if the fucken retards of Xenforo answered my question properly with an example. I shouldn't be playing around with template css file codes randomly to find the solution to problem to THEIR software. And why the fuck isn't this in the gui interface for easier manipulation? I said this before and I'll say it again, Xenforo is very beta.

Ok, now the XenForce is all white and the new/old post indicators have changed.
Frak this. Someone PM me when the damn things stop changing. It's like all the features I like aren't allowed to work together. I'll wait till the themes aren't dramatically altered to pick one I can use.

It's weird that they have a metric fuckton of things that are changed in the AdminCP yet a few things that have to be put in the css files...and it's never certain which are which.

I like blue on black, if anybody is taking notes of favorite theme colors.
So, what is jquery.com , and why do I have to have it whitelisted on adblock in order to post? When I logged on this morning I got "Load jQuery first!" error messages, and no box to post in, until I told adblock to allow the site.
#87

I had the same error but it didn't make me whitelist it with adblock. But it did make me allow it through NoScript.

Sorry about that. I was trying to get the resizing to work. I didn't realize it would cause the jquery thing to pop up. This has been fixed and won't happen again.
#90
Jay
If time permits, I'll work on a Blue on Black background sometime this week.
#91
makare
Will xenforo come out with more themes or are we stuck making our own?
#92
Dave
XF itself is making none. But there are a LOT of people making them for XF. It's just a matter of time before we get new ones.
One thing I *DID* learn was that simple changes in XF are okay if you have a lot of styles, but I spent a good 2 hours updating and trying to unfuck ones after the last update so I doubt I'll have as many as I did before. We'll see how well Jay's new one goes over and then add maybe 1 more. While it's nice to have a truckload of them and a lot of choices, when there's a major update it gets to be prohibitive. In addition, when we make changes it has to search/change all the styles and has caused some slowdowns and page errors.
tl;dr:
Look for maybe 1 more after Jay gets his XFDark Blue style done.
#93
Jay
I haven't worked on any skins all week (check sickness thread), I'll prolly get on the bandwagon next week.
But I'd like to know if the random timeouts is normal? "the page cannot be displayed". It just happened and has happened a few times since yesterday. Anyone else getting this?

Yeah, it's happened to me a couple times last night and today.

You're not normal, Dave.

Has it been doing this today? I haven't seen it. I did some template modifications and next will be working on addons.
#100
Jay
Well, it took me close to 3 minutes to get to this page. When I want to Embed Media, I get a nice black box... then after 1 minute I get the white box to put in my url, then I wait 3 minutes for it to "process" it.
I know specifically it's THIS site because I keep myself busy enough with other sites while this board lurches about the simplest of tasks.
#101
Dave
What style and browser are you using?
#102
Jay
You can get that from the admin tools you got.
Buy XF Dark Green an' Firefox.
The issue comes and goes but the embed media issue was always lagged hard.

Weird. I'm using FF4 and I'm not seeing this. Let me reinstall the latest and see if I get the same one.

I'm using Chrome and I hardly ever get videos to load. They seem to time out and just display a white (or sometimes black) box. I definitely think there is something with the video code.

What styles do you guys use? I can't duplicate this for the life of me. I believe you, but I can't track it down.

Social but I had the problem with XenForo Dark as well. It is really sporadic. I just had a complete thread of videos load, which wouldn't load earlier today.
#111

You can't seem to put a video link within a spoiler.
#112
Allen who is Quiet
Xenblue and just switched to Social today. Both of them have the problem.
#113
Shakey
I use social, maybe I'll try reinstalling FF tomorrow.
#114
Shakey
I tried the other themes, and it looks like Dragor is the only one that loads threads with videos correctly.
#115
Dave
Well that's odd.
#116
Shakey
Weird, it kind of has to do with No Script. If you forbid halforums.com, pages load fine. If you allow it, it doesn't... Seems opposite of how it should work.
#117
Dave
So it's probably an addon conflict?
#118
Shakey
I don't know, it's strange that it works fine in Dragor but not the others. I even rebuilt my firefox profile and reinstalled no script and it didn't fix it. No script hasn't been updated since FF4 came out, so maybe there's some conflict there.
#119
Dave
Okay, I've got FF4 & NoScript and I'm getting nothing. Allowed Halforums...nothing. Allowed YOUTUBE...BAM! It works.
So you're allowing the site but are you allowing the CONTENT?
It's a no-script issue, it looks like.
#120
Shakey
It doesn't load right when I allow all scripts for this site. It loads right when I block either halforums or youtube. You're right, probably a no script issue. I tried the latest development build of it and it still has the same problem, so it might not get fixed for a while.
#121
Dave
I got rid of noscript and everything loads fine.

Have people been deleting posts with greater frequency lately, or are the boards being wonky? Over the last two or three days I've seen at least two posts disappear, and suspect a third. Maybe I just never noticed before, but it's made for some confusing reading on my part.

The PvP thread. When I checked the last page, there's 3-4 people replying to something that (I think?) bones said. Null even quotes him, but I've never seen the actual original message.
Well, I can see what he said. It just seemed weird that he would bother to delete it after someone else quoted him. Thanks for clearing that up. Drifter might have more examples.
#131
Cheesy1
And that's how Dave solved "The Case of the Missing Bones."
#132
drifter
Yeah, I figured the Bones one was intentional given the blowback he got. There was also a post by sixpackshaker in the Glenn Beck thread. He had a post after mine, but the content was a duplicate of a previous post; then the post was gone and I wasn't sure if it was my mind playing tricks on me or if he deleted it. Also, a post by Jiarn in the Questions Game thread (the one with King George III) seems to be answering a question that got deleted, although maybe he's just interpreting the question in a way I don't understand.
Yeah, I've been having that too. If you refresh the page, it'll usually let you re-edit.

Added at: 09:15
Ok, it's just double posting that's removing all the blank lines, edits seem fine in this regard.
Like others, though, I'm noticing problems that do result in the loss of a post. I haven't nailed it down, but if I run into it again I'll see about duplicating the problem. I think it might be related to replying to the thread in a page earlier than the last page - so we might be able to test it here by responding to a post while on page 4 of this thread, then responding to another post on page 5 - the previous post disappears. Or something like that.
#141
Dave
Probably won't do anything about this. We have two basic choices. First, we can put up with it. Second would be to remove the double post mod.
Perhaps you can at least report it to xenforo and/or the mod's author.
#143
Dave
I can send something to the mod's author, but it's an older mod. The author hasn't updated or answered questions in his thread since April of this year. A LOT of people are having issues with this mod but for us it works. So I'll try but I make no promises.

Try to start typing the name of the file you want when you get to the folder it's in. It should eventually let you select the file on the list, even though you can't see it in the folder. I've been having the same problem with pics for the last few months.

Pretty much what I've been saying the last month or so.
The odd thing. My PC at work is perfectly fine and it only happens with the Flash uploader.
Uninstall Flash, restart browser, try it, it'll work. But it'll keep asking you to install it.... then boom, back to the old problem.
#157
Dave
I have disabled the flash uploader here on the site (didn't know I could do that) until such time as they fix this issue with Firefox.
Note that this is not necessarily a Xenforo issue, but one with the last Firefox update that Xenforo will need to deal with.
