If you have Zalman product you should find an alternative or stock up on backup parts. Apparently the CEO and other members of the parent company have falsified their records for years to get bank loans to the tune of about $3 billion. Once people found out they had their stocks frozen and have to pay it all back, which they can't. So they filed bankruptcy and will most likely be going under completely. No more Zalman products.

There is talk of a possible trademark sell-off so the products may be picked up by someone else, but that's future tense.

I almost posted this yesterday with the [Brazelton] tag, but I honestly thought nobody here but me would care.

They really made the "halo" orb-style heatsink popular, and put out some consistently good products. It's a blow to the DIY crowd.

I never used their cooling products, but I was a big fan of the Zalman ZM-MIC1 microphone. It's what I use in all my gaming voice chat and youtube videos. It's got amazing sensitivity and clarity, especially at the $4.99 price point.

Maybe it would have been a teensy bit more expensive if the books weren't cooked so bad, I guess.

From what I read though, Zalman itself wasn't doing anything funny, only their parent company, banking on the name. So it was/is a decent company, their owners are the crooks.

The best result here from what I see would be for Zalman as a whole to get sold, and then it can get bought up by investors who will "let it run" as it did, as a money-making company. That's unlikely, but possible from what little I came across.

If the company can be sold, as a whole, for more than it can be sold in pieces, then it's likely that Zalman will rise again as a respected provider of cooling and other PC parts.

If no one offers more for the company than its assets and trademarks are worth, then it'll be parted and become nothing more than a brand name.

It seems it was really the only decent part of the parent company's portfolio. It's a shame that such a good brand is going to be brought down by stupidity. But it isn't the first time, nor will it be the last.
