Whine like a baby, now with 500% more drama!

I use to date a girl 12,000 miles away and visited her a couple months at a time a couple times a year in Singapore(or she'd come to the US). We eventually broke up for other reasons, but distance wasn't one of them. Distance doesn't have to be game-breaking unless one of you can't handle the stress of a long-distance relationship.

Man I love hyphens. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I was with a girl who was 3,000 miles away.

My wife used to live 800 miles away.

Distance is less a boundary than frame of mind. That said, you should get to know a person for a while first. It's not easy, but it can be worthwhile.

Last night, I discovered that the tent I've had since 1993 is no longer as waterproof as it once was. I camp a good bit, but I usually plan around the weather, so it has never been a problem before. Last night, it rained all night, and the wind blew hard. My son and I woke up soaked. To make matters worse, it dropped from 70ish to a few degrees above freezing (and still windy) overnight. All our spare clothing was soaked, too. We packed up and left as fast as my frozen fingers would go. And by packed up, I mean I picked up the tent, and shoved it in the back of the Jeep. It was a bag of water. I was expecting the rain, but I wasn't expecting the leaky tent.

Never a good thing when a camping trip ends like that. Kinda why I want to get a pop-up/fold-up. Only thing is, I have nowhere to store it.

I...am sad. About 20 miles north of where I live, they closed schools because it's so cold, which I have never heard of here. They've closed schools because of snow (it has to be 6 feet of snow, but still..), but never because of cold.

C'mon, can't they close my work too?? I mean, it's quite cold here as well. I just..want to stay home, be lazy. Snuggle on the couch and play video games.

I know that feel bro. It's not even terribly cold here, and I'm happy to have a good-ish job again, but after MY weekend, I kinda needed more time to just lie in bed and moan dramatically.

My weekend wasn't even bad. I just hate the cold SOOO much. I hate not being able to feel my feet. I hate shivering so much that my abs hurt. I hate scraping ice off the windows so I can drive, but then it freezes over before the defroster is working anyway. I miss being able to actually go outside, especially being able to go running outdoors. But worst of all, I hate that feeling in your nose when your boogers freeze and stick to the side of your nostrils. Ugh, it's so awful!!

I'm seriously such a pansy when it comes to the cold.

At least someone loves you.

Okay wow that's wayyyy too whiny, I'm so sorry.

Having to explain to a customer that their request for contents of an account when they're not legal next of kin should go to legal instead of NOK? Normal. Expected even.
Having to explain the same thing to a police department? Well, not all officers are legal experts, so no big deal.
Having to explain the same thing to a coroner's office, when they want the information contained in the account in order to complete an inquest? Walking the borderline of stupid.
Having to explain the same thing to a police department, a coroner's office, the secretary of an MP, and a member of your own company that deals with Privacy on a daily basis? Downright idiotic.

Knowing that Her Majesty's government functions just as well as the U.S. government when it comes to this issue: Priceless. For everything else, there's MasterCard card.

Ok, a rant to go with my recent success.

11 months ago, I purchased a RAID-1 enclosure (no drives) with the intent of putting a couple of 3TB WD Red drives in it when I could afford to buy a set. Well, that's looking like it isn't going to happen soon, so instead of letting my data stay at risk, I decided to put in a pair of 1TB drives I've had hanging around.

Well, I open up the enclosure and it's busted. Physically busted. And not busted-in-shipping busted, but someone-broke-it-and-returned-it busted. So I'm contacting the MFR to see if it still has any sort of warranty on it, we'll see what happens.

Bad day for hard drives today, it seems. Suffered a drive failure in a critical automation system last night, spent half the day today getting it back in operation. Now I'm super behind on everything else. Marvelous.

Godddamn this tastes terrible, what the—

This actually happened yesterday, but I'm still annoyed at myself over it.

If I had an 80W soldering gun I might go for it.
Not recommended, unless you have a special gun. Most guns have such bad EMI that the induction currents fry the components even if the heat doesn't.

On an unrelated note, I do have a board I'm not using, complete with CPU, RAM, and integrated graphics if you just need a box.

Edit: Updated it anyway, stienman .

I woke up with some weird ear thing this morning, it feels like the right side of my head is underwater. It's making my hearing all screwy.

Whats weird about it is its just the smell that bugs me, I can still eat them and feel fine. My dad says it has something to do with my Aspergers, but I don't know.

I've been fighting to recover from this year's stupidly robust flu. My fever is gone, and I've been eating good healthy food and drinking plenty of water (and ginger tea), but today I'm all weak and trembly. Stupid flu.
