Did all your girls get tickets, though? Ashley was complaining about some of her friends not managing to.

Nope, most of our Princesses are out. But, still a lot of my dearies will be there. Carla, Rachel, Raychul, Ashley, Becky, Nobo, Meagan, Megan, Chaka, Chrissy and plenty of others. :)

While I'm a graduate student and paid by my university, due to some legal hocus pocus they 1) don't take any taxes out of my paycheck, 2) require me to make quarterly estimated payments (all the fun of tax day, four times a year!) and 3) are legally barred from giving me tax advice, leaving me to figure it out for myself. I found out this year that I'm required to pay both federal AND state estimated taxes, which has meant that--for the past three years--I've generally owed a few hundred dollars to the state and a variable amount to federal. Normally my fiance's received a rebate, which has covered my taxes and left us either breaking even or paying a couple hundred bucks.

Due to buying a house last year and my fiance starting vet school, we said screw it and went to H&R Block (yes, I know) to have them handle our taxes for us. We ended up having to pay about $375 for the taxes being done and having everything filed, but we ended up coming out a little over $2,000 ahead. Considering our wedding's in a few months, the catalytic converter in her car broke a couple days ago and she has another massive tuition bill coming up in a couple months, we've been stressing out very hard about money and this did a good deal to remove the knot in our stomachs. Yay awesome tax preparation guy!

I wasn't able to host a Pathfinder game for nearly two months because of either being sick, being at the hospital or someone else being sick. Yesterday I had to go to the hospital again because of a skin infection and heavy fever. I'm on antibiotics, but they let me go home after each session early in the morning.

Hosted a game tonight, and it was awesome. The cleric and the druid managed to heal a sick infant, thus garnering the goodwill of some woodsmen - and leading them to a mini-sidequest where they utterly trashed a modified yellow musk creeper and its zombies. I was happy to give them some magic weapons for that, ones they are going to need in the final battle.

Plus, because I was busy game mastering this bunch of friends, I hardly noticed the pain in my leg. And my fever is already going down :)

Doc to sister: Mom's surgery went great. She's in recovery now.

I'm at home because I've been up since 9 last night, and I need to get my sister registered for the Chicago Marathon in about an hour.

Fucking A, Cotton!

Hot fucking shit, I am having a kickass year this year! Just over 15 months ago, I was getting laid off from work, only to flip it to a new position with a raise, then moved up again (though more lateral) about half way through the year last year.

Now, I just went for, and got, a new promotion, with an 18% raise in my base pay, and still another 3% on previous added to that! Woot fucking woot. On top of that, I had Lazik done in January, and its been amazing, so for the first time in 19 years, (shit, since 4th grade) I have not needed to wear glasses. It is awesome.

And I just locked down my first Harley Davidson from a friend, and I pick that bad boy up in the 2nd week of March! I've wanted this since my father rode when I was a young kid. Finally at a place where I can afford it easily, and I cannot fucking wait!

Rock on the range has a great looking lineup this year, field passes acquired for the 3 day fest, so I am looking forward to heading to Ohio for that in may on the bike, then continuing another 2 days ride after to visit friends in Dallas for Memorial Day weekend. That is going to be an epic 2 week vacation I cannot wait for.

Also, as always, PAX East tickets acquired, and that will be a blast like every year.

Holy shit, what a year, and it is only February!

Completely forgot I had scheduled a dinner with my family tonight, but got a text reminder from my mom in plenty of time to get there. I'm glad I went. In bullet points:
  • Tacos (delicious, delicious tacos seasoned beef in crispy corn shells with various condiments and sides)
  • Relaxed fun atmosphere, with a good deal of laughter. (Not the norm for my family.)
  • Plans for family vacations this summer. Flying to Chicago in June; road trip to southern Ohio in July maybe.
  • Possible rescheduling of Alaskan cruise for next year
  • Possibly going with my fam to the KSBJ anniversary concert in May
  • Possibly going to Video Games Live with my sister and brother-in-law in July.
  • EDIT: (Forgot to add) KITTIES!
Lots of tentative plans, but some really amazing stuff is possible.

Turned on my main PC to be greeted by CAN'T BOOT: FILE /windows/system32/config/system DAMAGED OR MISSING.
-1hr 20min to run a surface scan (passed)
-20min Googling
-5min with the drive attached to another PC to move some files around
Computer is now back up and running, no data lost, as if nothing ever happened. Sweet.

Not my win but mom's. She's home from the hospital. Took a bit to get out of the car, but she was eventually settled on the basement couch. By the time I got up again to get ready for work, she was able to get up from the couch and to the bathroom on her own. Staples come out of her knee on Thursday.

How'd they cook them? I've been looking for a new recipe.

My lap top shat the bed earlier this month. Since then I've been posting from where ever. Well, got my taxes done and had about 3000.00 come back to me.

So now I have a Sony VAIO. First non HP I've ever had.

Windows 8 though...that's a learning curb, I tell ya.
