She's physically attractive, but a terrible singer. Her stuff sounds like a drunk secretary doing karaoke Thursday after work.

What sells that one for me evilmike, is the little "Good Things Grow in Ontario" sticker on the display case. Makes it much funnier IMO.

They don't compare btw. Go Okanagan!

He was talking from a business perspective. The tablet style interface will only display programs and such that are approved by Microsoft, which in the case of games means what they sell from their new storefront thing. If you own a game via Steam but Microsoft hasn't given their approval then it won't show up in the tablet style stuff. For that stuff, you need to go to the desktop.

So Gabe was saying that Microsoft was trying to do an end run around the PC market and make themselves the de-facto authority for PC games with Windows 8 by controlling what shows up on people's desktops.

Or at least that was the sentiment at the time. Back then I don't think anyone thought we'd still have the normal desktop.

Yeah, most of the gamemakers' objections with windows 8 was that it was indicative of a desire to make the PC less of an open system, and more like a locked down console or tablet with an app store being the sole gatekeeper of software.

While I see where it's coming from, I've always found that point a bit ironic, because the arguably most open platforms out there often trade most of their software through walled-garden gateways.

Strangely enough, at least part of the reasoning that Microsoft had for requiring game sales to be made through their app store was actually to make things easier for game/software developers. The software being sold on the app store didn't need to be compiled by the developer before being submitted. All of the compiling would be handled by a process at the store itself, so that a developer could submit just one copy of the code for their game, and the store's software would detect the device type and OS bit type at the time of purchase and compile the code accordingly. This way a company like Rovio wouldn't need to submit one set of code for Angry Birds to be run on the Microsoft Surface and a second set of code for Angry Birds to be run on the Windows Phone and yet a third set of code for it to be run on a PC with Windows 8. Of course, even such an "altruistic*" ideal as that can still be a bad thing, because it can effectively rule out the use of software purchased through other sources.

*And if you think that this was really a purely altruistic move, and that at least someone at Microsoft didn't think about the possibilities of this limiting usefulness of purchases from other sources, I've got a bridge I'd like to sell you.

I'm on the fence on it in all honesty. I agree that its weird how the kids all seem to have dialects from different places while supposed to have lived in the neighborhood their whole lives, and the fact that the time-period of the show is up to question is very interesting. But saying the reason that their tongues are oddly colored is because they are decaying corspes?! NO! Their tongues are oddly colored because they eat candy all the time! The reason for the Kankers tongues being normal is because they don't eat candy. At least thats just me.

I'm too lazy to make a screenshot, so it's just "funny" rather than a "funny picture":

Door-to-door Salesman: “Hi, I’m here to tell you about some excellent deals we have at [energy provider].”

Me: “Thanks for the offer, but I’m happy with the provider I currently use.”

Salesman: “Okay, thanks for your time. Have a nice night, Sir!”

(Unbeknownst to him, my neighbor is out of town and I’m taking care of her cat. I grab the key, run out the back door, and make it to my neighbor before he does.)

Salesman: “Hi, I’m here to tell you…uh…”

(The salesman’s voice trails off as he recognizes me.)

Me: “Didn’t you already come here like a minute or two ago?”

Salesman: “Yeah, I, uh…”

(Confused, he looks around at the house, trying to figure out what happened.)

Salesman: “I’m sorry, Sir. It’s been a long day. Have a nice night.” *leaves*

That Tombstone machine is no joke. It heats up the food in a plastic bag that comes with a paper tray, then drops it. It works surprisingly well.

That's not even the weirdest machine I've seen here in Columbus. I've seen one that makes pizza on demand.

are you posting your work again.

=P
I wish. :p

Saw this pic on Facebook and burst out laughing. I kept imagining a little old lady trying to pray the Chinese out of me. I'd tell her I was born this way, but she'd shake her head and say no, obviously being Chinese is a choice.
