I saw this. And as weird as it seems (and it does seem pretty weird) they were also both already there covering a different story on different networks. It was probably far easier to do a 10 foot apart "remote" splitscreen than for one of them to unmic and move over to the other.

Although you can still totally keep "journalist" in quotation marks. That feels pretty accurate.
