Vacation starts the morning of the 15th... right after payday. The Henry Ford museum is looking likely, the Tigers are at home vs Baltimore, and I can troll my friends and family down here by visiting The School Up North. :D

STILL WAITING ON YOU CHICAGO HFERS
Run the Big Ten 10K with me on July 27th! Then we can drink until we negate all the calories we burned!

Aren't vacations supposed to be relaxing? Weird that you would take a vacation somewhere that you've been so vocal about hating in the past. :p

10k!?!?

Alrighty then. Three nights booked in Dearborn June 16-19. I need to fit in The Henry Ford, Tigers-O's at least once, The Big House, and whatever else comes to mind.

(ETA: According to the Wikipedia, Dearborn has the largest Arab-American population by percentage in the US. That means... shawarma. I've already added Al-Ameer and Tuhama's to my Google Maps. :))

DarkAudit, definitely stop by Zingerman's when you're in Ann Arbor. It's expensive, but their sandwiches are amazing, and they have an incredible selection of cheeses, olive oils, chocolates, deli meats, baked goods, etc. And you can get free samples of EVERYTHING (one of their hallmarks is they train every employee to provide five-star service. I wanted to try a sample of one of their chocolates, and the employee encouraged me to try literally every chocolate they had to make my decision.)

Also add to your agenda stopping at American and Lafayette Coney Island restaurants before the baseball game. Yes, you have to eat a coney dog at both of them and then decide forever which one is better. I'm pretty sure it's a law.

MICHIGAN GETITTOGETHER

Tuesday, June 18th, sometime after 6pm

We haven't decided what to do, but those that are available and interested in joining us should PM me or another michigander to be added to the PM conversation.[DOUBLEPOST=1369315948][/DOUBLEPOST]

We are going to be meeting while you are here, so I've invited you to the conversation, and hope you'll be able to join us for whatever we decide to do.

Greenfield Village was a blast (Thanks BErt !). Didn't even know the vintage baseball game was a thing until I got there. Al-Ameer was busy. It was just me, so I didn't have to wait for a table. ~$5.50 for a meat shawarma and pop.

Got cheap seats for tonight's Tiger's game. Biggest concern is where to park. Anyone?

There's a whole bunch of empty lots around the stadium; I normally just get there a bit before gametime and drive around a bit until I find an open one. You can find parking for $10 or so.

I usually park at the Elwood Bar & Grill garage. It's $20, but it's right next to Comerica Park.

But like Enresshou said, you shouldn't have any trouble finding cheaper options around the area if you prefer.

How's the AT&T reception at Comerica? At PNC Park and Consol arena in Pittsburgh it sucked. At Nationals Park in DC it sucked.

As with any sporting event, it depends on how many other people are trying to stay connected at the same time. This usually means you have pretty crappy service (unless you're one of the first ones to connect) unless one or more of these are parked outside.

BTW, michigan halforumites are going to be at Ashley's in Ann Arbor at 6pm tomorrow night, in case anyone else just wants to hop a flight or something.

You know.

Pre-ashley's kibitzing will occur at my house.

Don't worry, the kids don't bite.

Well, except the one we call bitey, but he's had his shots.

Proof that I am currently somewhere in Michigan...

(I bailed at the end of the 7th tonight. Couldn't believe the lack of traffic going in or coming back.)
