Video Game News and Miscellany

Yay, more bad news! Atlus's parent company apparently has been lying about profits and are now under investigation for fraud. Now the company's future could be in danger even though it's the high performer for Index.

Fucking hell.

I imagine it would probably be Square Enix actually.
On the one hand, Square-Enix isn't doing so hot right now themselves. On the other, they typically let their companies do whatever they want (Eidos) and Atlus games tend to be lower budget than Square's, so they won't have to do the whole "we must sell 4 million units to break even" and Square's publicity arm could do them some good.

Of course, Atlus games are pretty niche, so who knows if it would do any good.

I just don't want Atlus to go away. The Shin Megami Tensei and Persona games are the few RPGs these days that I don't complain about. I don't want them going away or turning into fucking Final Fantasy XIII.

Well.
Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition just got butt fucked by some sort of legal issue. It's disappeared for sale everywhere on the internet. This is just before a large patch that would have introduced an improved interface and other improvements. This also puts a stop to BG2EE.
Bummer. They did a pretty decent job.

[DOUBLEPOST=1371740993][/DOUBLEPOST]For a dude that's reportedly very smart, he sure has come off as an utterly out of touch, wrong toolbox during the entire Crossbone 180 debacle.

What the fuck is up with image tagging lately? They work like 1/5 times.

Here's a direct link.

Apparently some online retailers accidentally leaked a 3DS remake of Zelda: Majora's Mask. No official word from Nintendo, but one of the sites (Xtralife I think) apparently made this mistake before with Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, so ... strong chance of legit.

For anyone on the fence about getting Shin Megami Tensei IV, let it be known that the dick demon is back, with his tentacles and riding a tusked chariot.

Probably NSFW:

Only 24 days until I can pick up my preorder.

Interview with creator of Super Smash Bros.

On the differences between the Wii U and 3DS version, apparently the roster will be the same, but the levels will be different, accommodating the small or big screen respectively, and also having levels based on home consoles vs handheld consoles.

Which also means people on the 3DS will not be able to play against people on the Wii U. You can transfer your profile between the two, but players on the Wii U can only play against others on Wii U, and those on the 3DS can only play against other 3DS players.

So I'm a little conflicted. On the one hand, I'm pretty much settled on getting a Wii U someday in the far off future, so I'll have both consoles, and I'd like to sit and play on the TV with my wife and cousins. On the other hand, we can do that on our 3DSs (if my cousins ever get upgraded to XL) and I prefer the more traditional control scheme you get on a 3DS as opposed to the weird Gamepad and Wiimote stuff.

I forget... did they get rid of the Classic Gamepad all together with the Wii U or can you use your old one from the Wii? Because it's always felt like that was THE way to play a Smash Brothers game.

I'm kinda bummed they are limiting the roster this time around because of the whole Wii U/3DS thing. Brawl had a fairly huge roster and I suspect more than half the characters are going to get the ax because of the 3DS's limited memory. Doubles like Toon Link/Link, Ness/Lucas, and Pichu/Pikachu can always be pared down but Brawl actually had a fairly diverse roster of original characters... I don't see how everyone is going to make the cut this time around.

They're not, especially when new characters are being added. I'll be impressed if they make it to 30 characters.

As for the classic, I don't know if you can use the Wii classic for the Wii U. I do know they have a Wii U classic. I kind of wish Nintendo would adopt Sony's route where the Vita can be another controller and allow that with the 3DS. It has enough buttons, I'm pretty sure.

EDIT: Just read a good idea on Tumblr; they could make more characters as DLC later.

I'm fairly certain the classics work just fine. I'm still using the classics I used for the wii controllers, even though I had to upgrade all the wii-motes. Technically you don't have to upgrade the wii-motes either, however there are a few games that only support the motion plus wii-mote. We wanted the entire group to be able to play every game in Nintendoland (Metroid and Zelda worlds require them), so we decided just to get all four controllers replaced.

Since I sold all but one of the old Wiimotes with the Wii, we're gonna have to get new ones eventually anyway. But it's still gonna be a while before we get a Wii U.

I have one but haven't done much with it as of yet. Lego city is fun, and I haven't really got into Zombie U yet.

Actually, that's how it's gone for me as well. Have Super Mario World and Yoshi and have been playing those most of all. Also have NSMB and have been enjoying it as well. Looking forward to Smash Bros.
