I will always suggest Life if you haven't seen it. Cop is wrongfully put in prison for a murder he didn't commit, gets huge settlement and his job back, trying to find out who committed the crime. Oh, zen aspect thrown in and did I mention Damien Lewis?

The Unusuals is also a really offbeat cop show. Very bizarre but still good.

...and did I mention Damien Lewis?
Oh my god, how did I forget to mention Homeland?

Go watch Homeland. Damien Lewis plays an US Marine captured in Iraq eight years ago who is finally found and returned home after years of captivity. He's hailed as a hero, but a CIA analyst (Claire Danes) thinks he's been turned into a sleeper agent for Al Qaeda. The only problem is that she has loads of mental issues and shaky evidence, so she can't be sure and definitely can't convince her superiors.

It's fantastic. There are two seasons done already and the third starts in September. It's full of tension and plot twists, and the acting is phenomenal.

When I finally connected the dots and realized Mr. Bean was Black Adder... I was highly disappointed. Because Rowan is so delightful being the witty one.

I liked Mr. Bean, but he can do so much more.
Yup, Rowan Atkinson is a sublime comedy actor, both on stage and on TV. It's just a shame he's by far best known for Mr Bean...

As other said, I omitted Blackadder 1 because Intelligent Evil > Cartoon villainy. Smart Blackadder is better Blackadder.

All this sounded good except... Claire Danes.

SUITS - Awesome lawyer show on USA. "On the run from a drug deal gone bad, Mike Ross, a brilliant college-dropout, finds himself a job working with Harvey Specter, one of New York City's best lawyers.". Another "it's about the characters" series where you just love to watch Harvey get the better of someone last minute. Mike is good too, though occasionally he can come off as whiny and he tends to get himself in more trouble than he's worth. Another fantastic character is Lewis, who is Harvey's rival even though they work at the same firm. He's the guy you love to hate, because sometimes you actually relate to him.

I once went off on a half-hour rant about this show, breaking down precisely how terrible it was using examples from every episode of the first season. I was fairly inebriated, and my friends thought it was quite funny (they all love the show) but I guess the point I'm trying to make here is: you and I are going to have to have a streetfight about this show next time I get drunk and watch the whole first season again to jog my memory.

On top of the ones already mentioned... Downton Abbey. Even if it had only Maggie Smith as the Dowager Countess and nothing else, I'd still watch it.

Also, is American Horror Story any good? I've got the first three epidodes TiVo'd, but I've not yet watched 'em.

There are a few issues I have with it. Mostly involving Mike and his ability to fuck up the opportunity that Harvey has given him. The first season focused way too much on the drug issue. The second season was also very good, but I think I enjoyed the first half more than the second half. The first half was intense and ended pretty much on a season finale worthy episode. The real season finale was very bland and didn't manage to get my hyped for the next season.

Meanwhile, In Supernatural...
ANGELS ARE FUCKING FALLING! H'OH SHIT!
