Wii U Love Thread

It seems the Wii U continues to falter sadly:

Hopefully there will be a boost when some more solid games are released.
Maybe they should have thought about having some solid games in the first place. I'll grant that nearly every launch lineup is junk, but it's been six months. The biggest reason to get a Wii U is the Virtual Console being playable on the gamepad--that's not a system mover. Wind Waker HD is cool, but that's also not a reason for me to buy the console. Maybe if they get Okami HD that would tilt slightly more in my favor, but at some point the Wii U needs to get good games that aren't ports or HD re-releases.

3DS really turned things around in the past year. I think I play on it more than on my PS3. I'll be all aboard the Wii U once it has the games to make buying it worthwhile, but it just isn't there. Here's hoping Nintendo shows us some awesome at E3.

I don't think it's the same thing this time. Wii managed to get a lot of people who would never buy a video game console to buy a video game console. Those same people just aren't buying Wii-Us.

Also Nintendo's fault. I feel like they weren't supporting the Wii all that well in its last year of life aside from Skyward Sword. The Wii U just doesn't distinguish itself very well and the gamepad doesn't appeal to people the way the Wiimotes did.

I want it to be good. I really do love Nintendo. But they don't seem to be making good decisions on this thing. I hope they pull it together soon.

Apparently the Wii-U's sales in the UK have gone up 875% since the Xbone announcement.

Congratulations Microsoft.

875% huh, so they sold 35 WiiU's? Impressive.[DOUBLEPOST=1369398262][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, what Frank said. I don't believe a bigger library will really help. Most people I know who own a Wii have spent 95% of their time on Wii Sports, Wii Fit and possibly Mario Party. "Real" gamers who want "real" games are certainly a part of the people buying Wiis, but the reason for its success was everybody else buying it for the fun at parties. The amount of people who "didn't like" videogames, bought a Wii, played some Wii Sports and suddenly got interested in Fifa or Medal of Dutycraft or whatever seems to be a very small group.

This kid is way too wound up, and can't stop touching his nose. I can only presume that he has a coke problem.

This seems as best a place to put this as any.

Does anyone use Club Nintendo and collect points? I have spare point codes for Pokemon Black and Pokemon Black 2. I can't use them because I already put codes for those games into my account, so if you don't have those games, the codes will work. Note, the Pokemon Black code may or may not work--it should, but I can only guarantee the Black 2 (I bought this Black from a rental place). Message here if you're interested, first to ask gets.

I want to love the WiiU. I do. Nintendo's always been my favorite gaming company. But there are so few games out for it right now that there's nothing drawing me to it.

The PS2 section is bigger than the WiiU section in the game store I go to. I get that it takes a bit for a console to get its feet, but ZombiU is still the only game that actually piques my interest.

And Quotemander, I'll take it if you're still offering. (New dad = where did all my game money go :p)

Right now, unfortunately, ZombiU is the only really worthwhile game on the console, with the exception of the virtual console, but that doesn't count.

Deal going on in the Nintendo eShop right now: if you buy either Mega Man X or Ghosts 'n' Goblins, then you can get the other title half-off.

I know. That and switching the screen to the gamepad are really the only things going for it. When the two biggest draws are 20 year old games, and what is admittedly an awesome feature for people who want to play their M-rated games around kids... I don't know, it's just falling flat. My wife is convinced they're waiting until launch day for the PS4/XB1 to release all the good games, but I just don't know.

I'm pretty much contemplating the WiiU being my last console purchase. When I can upgrade a gaming PC that's faster and has better graphics for cheaper than the console and exclusives dwindle, I'm finding it harder to justify buying new consoles.

Steam is singlehandedly pulling me away from consoles, honestly. When I can just wait a month and get a game for half off, that runs perfectly with better graphics and gameplay than the console... It's an easy choice.

Oh god the Steam summer sale is coming soon

If whatever comes after the WiiU has good exclusives, I may consider getting it. Really exclusives are the only reason for me to own a console right now.

This is me. I'm guessing Nintendo is going to show us something of worth come E3 ... I hope. I want to get a Wii U, but there's nothing to justify it right now except, as you say, old games. I didn't get to play Wind Waker. I'd love to play it and if I have a Wii U, I'll get the HD version. But that's not a console sell to me. If they got Okami HD, that'd also be cool, but still not worth buying the console over. Same goes for Earthbound on the VC and some other VC titles (though I'd rather have them on my 3DS for on-the-go). But I need them to show us something new. And I'll accept the Nintendo version of new, i.e. the same thing but in a new title. Show me a new Zelda that isn't Link to the Past 2: Paper Zelda 3D. Show me a new Metroid game. Kirby. Whatever, Nintendo, just do something.

And Quotemander, I'll take it if you're still offering. (New dad = where did all my game money go :p)
Sorry, they were snapped up not long after I posted about it. I should've edited the post to say they were gone.

The Wii U is pretty much just sitting around giving me some virtual console options and the occasional Nintendo-land fun with some friends. I gave Scribblenauts Unlimited a play-through and it was fun, but not at all a replayable game for me. I also own a few other titles such as ZombieU, Arkham City, and Assasins' Creed 3. Currently they are all sitting on the shelf waiting for me to tire of Bioshock Infinite (GETTHISGODDAMNGAME!RAAHH!!). Yes I know that two of those are not WiiU exclusives, but it's what I have it on and I'm going to enjoy them all in due time.
As far as upcoming titles; I am excited to see what Nintendo has in store for us. I'm probably going to make the WiiU my only 8th generation console. This is mostly due to the fact that Sony and Microsoft have not shown me anything worthwhile. In fact everything they have shown so far has hurt my interest, such as no backwards compatibility. I am a man of few needs; but one of them is being able to replay games without having to plug in a single generation inferior system. I don't want to pay to download something I already own.

Isn't that what you do when you get a VC game you already had on Wii?

If I want to play a VC game I had on the wii I can easily switch to the Wii mode and play it. I transferred all my VC titles from the wii to the wiiU. The kick is that you won't be able to play VC from the wii on the wiiU's gamepad without first downloading the WiiU version of the game. However you do get a discount if the system detects you already have the game. So at least they do that for you.

So Earthbound is up on Virtual Console. Bit more expensive than the other SNES selections. Going for $9.99

oh yeah, super excited, finally going to get a wii u pro controller for it so I can sit and play on my tv.

October 4th is now the official release date of Wind Waker HD. I also will not be getting a pro controller for the game as it has full integration with the gamepad screen, including having your sea chart up while sailing with touch buttons for your hook, sail, and baton.
