Most Favorite Games Company? Why?

Least Favorite Games Company? Why?

EA : Satan

Nintendo : My childhood fun

Square (Enix or not) : You've changed, man.

Bioware : We don't talk anymore since the EA problem

Blizzard : I wish I knew how to quit you

Valve : Awesome, but when will you learn to count to 3?

Capcom : Why do you hate Mega Man so much?

Ubisoft : French

Rockstar : Meh

Naughty Dog : Cautiously optimistic

Bethesda : Oh god my life

Telltale Games : Oh god these feels

Irrational Games : Oh god my mind!

Obsidian : That stoner fuckup friend that's secretly a genius.

Deep Silver : Who?

Favorite game company and least favorite game company are both the same: Bioware.

Describe how you feel about the following 15 game companies...

EA: They appear to enjoy treating games and game companies like businesses, instead of works of passion and love. Which is fine, except we still remember a time when games and game companies were treated like works of passion and love, and we miss those days. We miss the days when the publisher didn't treat every gamer like a potential pirate, the days when making a good game (and not profit maximization through nickle and diming the customer) was the key to success, and the days when game makers were not all part of one giant faceless corporate entity. They're evil, perhaps a necessary one, but evil nonetheless.

Nintendo: They know their market and their niche, and they're happy to pursue it. This is what I like to see, a company doing what they do well, rather trying to do everything and screwing it all up.

Square (Enix or not): Final Fantasy 8 remains my favorite Final Fantasy game.

Bioware: Recent disappointments do not erase the fact that they've made some tour de force games. While it's easy to write them off, I believe they have the potential to return to form in the future. Of course, this could be the fanboy talking.

Blizzard: The only Blizzard game I've ever played is Warcraft 2, and I quite like it. They appear to have found the ideal MMO formula, judging by the success of WoW, so I think that's where they're going to continue their focus in the foreseeable future.

Valve: The darling of the PC gaming sphere, and for good reason. First they announced their arrival on the gaming scene with Half-Life, a masterpiece in its day and still holding up decently well after all these years. Then they came back with Half-Life 2, which also marked the debut of Steam. Steam has revolutionized online distribution for PC gaming, and has in fact become the de facto online distribution channel, which other companies are desperately trying to play catch-up to. Subsequent games such as the Left 4 Dead series, Team Fortress 2, the Portal series, and DOTA 2 have only reinforced Valve's reputation. They don't make many games, and they don't make them quickly, but damn their games are good. Also, they can't count to three.

Capcom: The company's business decisions are apparently being made by a chimpanzee.

Ubisoft: Ubisoft also tried the draconian DRM tactic, but it blew up in their faces. When legitimate customers are unable to play your game because your DRM servers are down, then you've got a problem. They were saved by the quality of their games, such as the Assassin's Creed series (possibly excluding Revelations), and the huge pile of IPs they hold.

Rockstar: They allow gamers to indulge their inner asshole, and for that I applaud them.

Naughty Dog: Would you believe I've never played a single Naughty Dog game? These guys need to make PC versions of their games already. I wanna see what all the fuss over The Last of Us is about.

Bethesda: The Elder Scroll series and Fallout 3 are great games. Glitchy and rather crash-happy, but great nonetheless. Bethesda have found a formula that works for them, though they may need to change things up soon, to avoid going stale.

Telltale Games: Never played any of their games, though I have heard good things about the feels they evoke.

Irrational Games: One word: Bioshock. That's what they're known for, that's what they're good at. Well, that and System Shock 2.

Obsidian: New Vegas was the game that made both old-school and newcomer Fallout fans happy, and for that they deserve kudos. Unfortunately, it was rushed out to market by Bethesda before it was fully complete, which resulted in some notably missing content, such as large chunks of the Legion quest line, and the ability to free play after the end of the main quest. Here's hoping Obsidian will get to develop more Fallout games, and more importantly have the time and freedom to get it right.

Deep Silver: Who?

Most Favorite Games Company? Why?
Valve, for the reasons mentioned above.

Least Favorite Games Company? Why?
Sourcenext. Never heard of them? They ported Resident Evil 4 to PC. It was so bad, it's an insult to call it a Resident Evil game, and in fact it's also an insult to call it a port.

EA : I think it's been established that EA is the devil incarnate. They are one of the best examples of corporate greed inpinging on artistic endevors.

Nintendo : I wish I knew how to quit you.

Square (Enix or not) : Squaresoft : YAY Squenix: BOO- I did like the Tomb Raider remake, though.

Bioware : If I had the chunks of my life you stole from me, I'd already have my Ph.D.

Blizzard : See bioware above, but really starting to slip in my eyes.

Valve : TAKE MY MONEY!

Capcom : I still like your fighting games, I guess.

Ubisoft : Hit and Miss

Rockstar : Please do more stuff besides GTA.

Naughty Dog : I'm keeping an eye on this company, they have some great stuff out there.

Bethesda : See Bioware and Blizzard comments.

Telltale Games : Been on board since they first did the Bone video game.

Irrational Games : Keep up the good work.

Obsidian : Meh

Deep Silver : Who???? Who???? Saint's Row motherfuckers!

Most Favorite Games Company? Why?

I know it's an old whore who keeps showing us the same sagging boobs, but I still love me some Nintendo.

Least Favorite Games Company? Why?

EA, natch. I don't think you need a reason besides EA.[DOUBLEPOST=1379903989,1379903895][/DOUBLEPOST]Honorable mention to Netherrealms Studios for their excellent MK 9 and Injustice: Gods Among Us games.

EA : Fuck 'em with a rabid monkey stick.

Nintendo : Doing good things for the most part, but they need to get over doing 2D Mario platforming. They're never going to top Super Mario World, but they could at least try. I'm more into all their other franchises now.

Square (Enix or not) : Fucking Jekyll and Hyde here.

Bioware : That ex who treated you like shit, but then comes on all sweet and you know you shouldn't, but it was so good when you were together ...

Blizzard : Dominated scattered chunks of my life, but haven't been interesting in a while.

Valve : HALF-LIFE 3??!!

Capcom : You don't know what you're doing anymore. Go sit in the corner.

Ubisoft : Can you make a game that doesn't have 3 million boring sidequests and repetitive gameplay?

Rockstar : Like Blizzard, big staple of my teenager years, but I've outgrown them.

Naughty Dog : CRASH BANDICOOT??!!

Bethesda : Let me live in you.

Telltale Games : Hit and miss.

Irrational Games : Pretty cool. I'd say I wish they made more games, but the ones they make are good quality and I wouldn't want to ruin that.

Obsidian : Neutral. I've only played Fallout New Vegas of theirs, and not much of it.

Deep Silver : Catherine is solid and terrific, but that was under the direction of Atlus. Haven't played anything else they made.

Most Favorite Games Company? Why?

Atlus. They've taken over the mantle from Squaresoft of making strong RPGs with solid stories and enjoyable gameplay. Looking back, I'd say their catalog is at least stronger than the Final Fantasy series. I like the challenge given by their games and the odd, interesting stories and characters they portray.

Least Favorite Games Company? Why?

It should be EA, but really, it's Square-Enix. I wouldn't care about them if I hadn't spent so much time loving the work of Squaresoft, but seeing the abomination they've become ... I will never get another good Final Fantasy Tactics. They've destroyed that series, along with Final Fantasy primary, and Parasite Eve. They've been working hard to ruin Kingdom Hearts as well, though maybe that'll end with Kingdom Hearts 3.

Well, shit then.... who????
Looking them up, it actually looks like they're almost strictly a publisher. I say almost, because they do have a few DS games to their credit. They are:

Let's Play Fashion Designer
Let's Play Firemen
Let's Play Mums
Let's Play Pet Hospital
Let's Play Schools
Let's Play Shops

And they were also responsible for this promotion:
Possibly nsfw:

EA : Terrible policies, terrible direction (when they're not doggedly following Activision, which is only mostly terrible) and terrible for the games industry.

Nintendo : Doesn't know who they want to be. Seem lost right now, like they have no idea what direction they should be headed.

Square (Enix or not) : Games starring Lightning and remakes of PS2 games are about all they have to offer outside of shitty mobile games and Eidos. The Square I loved has been dead since the merger.

Bioware : A friend of mine is dating a guy who works for Bioware. He's a douche.

Blizzard : I can summon no fucks for their products or anything they have upcoming.

Valve : I can summon no fucks for Valve either, outside of that I like that people gave me money for stupid trading cards. Don't bother with Half-Life 3, you'd only disappoint at this point.

Capcom : I hope Mighty #9 is a smash so that everyone can point and laugh at them for being so terrible.

Ubisoft : Their PC policies are less shit than they used to be and of the big publishers, their upcoming games actually look fun. It's weird not just loathing the name Ubisoft anymore. But seriously, where's the fucking Stick of Truth Ubi? It's apparently been done for months.

Rockstar : Lets try a city that wasn't in the original GTA next time.

Naughty Dog : Uncharted 3 was awful, you should be ashamed. The Last of Us was awesome, you should be accoladed.

Bethesda : If you're going to rely on modders to make your games more than mediocre, how about treating the PC audience with a modicum of fucking respect? Keeping so many fucking secrets makes people resent you.

Telltale Games : I don't like your style of games but you made something great with the Walking Dead, so good on you.

Irrational Games : I like your work, I hope the Infinite DLC doesn't make me regret the only season pass I've ever purchased.

Obsidian : I hope Destiny is enough of a success for you guys to never have to worry about dealing with bullshit publishers. Also, tell Ubisoft to release the fucking Stick of Truth.

Deep Silver : Dead Island was such a bait and switch. I do not trust you.

Describe how you feel about the following 15 game companies...

EA : They ruined sports games :(
Nintendo : The best, they make fun games with all the characters I like.
Square (Enix or not) : dunno
Bioware : dunno
Blizzard : They make mmo's that people play but I don't really care about???

Valve : who?
Capcom : Viewtiful Joe and Mega Man!!!
Ubisoft : who?
Rockstar : Hey, Grand Theft Auto!
Naughty Dog : who?

Bethesda : is this a city in Europe?
Telltale Games : I vaguely associate this with indie gaming or D&D
Irrational Games : who?
Obsidian : who?
Deep Silver : who?

Most Favorite Games Company? Why? Nintendo, they made Mario and I like Mario.

Least Favorite Games Company? Why? EA, they ruined sports games.

EA : The single most destructive force in PC Gaming.

Nintendo : Family entertainment, nostalgia factory.

Square (Enix or not) : Used to be a golden idol. Auguring in fast.

Bioware : Great stories. Not so great most everything else.

Blizzard : Did you see my hat? It's made of MONEY. My swimming pool is full of MONEY. Are you staying for lunch? I think we're having MONEY!! Seriously though, everybody who likes RPGs or MMOs owes it to themselves to play the first couple dozen levels of WoW. It's too important an experience to miss out on. But there was no reason to make us buy Starcraft 2 three times.

Valve : The single most constructive force in PC Gaming.

Capcom : See Square.

Ubisoft : The publisher that really cranked DRM up to 11, for all the good it did them. Maybe they've learned their lesson.

Rockstar : The original masters of the sandbox game. They've had some stumbles but by and large they're still king of the genre.

Naughty Dog : Console developer. I haven't really played anything of theirs. People seem to like Uncharted.

Bethesda : Some of the best yet most famously technically flawed games I've ever played. They're good at immersive stuff.

Telltale Games : Poker and Penny Arcade, as far as I'm concerned. I think they did the post-lucasarts Sam and Max games too, and I always kinda wanted to play them because I was a big fan of the original... just never got around to it.

Irrational Games : Eh, they're ok. I enjoyed the Bioshock series. I liked em better as Looking Glass though.

Obsidian : Usually good RPGs. Like many, I often confuse them with Bethesda.

Deep Silver : They seem to have done right by Saint's Row IV, but just about everything they released beforehand was garbage.

EA : Can't wait till you fold up after you lose your yearly sports titles. You're destroying the industry.

Nintendo : Get your shit together. WiiU is a great console with nothing on it. Change that.

Square (Enix or not) : STOP. CATERING. TO. THE. WEEABOOS. You used to produce some of the best storytelling in console gaming. Go back to that and stop trying to double down on a failed game.

Bioware : You are beyond saving. Just waiting till EA closes you down and then I'll at least have a grave for my memories.

Blizzard : Stop focusing on WoW and DOTA exclusively. You can do more.

Valve : Steam OS is cool and all, but I'd like some new games please.

Capcom : You killed Megaman. You're dead to me and I can't wait until you get cut up for auction.

Ubisoft : Drop your fucking network shit and DRM and we're cool.

Rockstar : Keep doing what your doing. Just get me another Red Dead.

Naughty Dog : It's time to stop being exclusive. You'd make way more money going multi-platforum.

Bethesda : Keep doing what you are doing. Just do it faster and with a new engine.

Telltale Games : We're good, as long as Clementine lives... you monsters.

Irrational Games : They make what again?

Obsidian : Stick of Truth had better be fucking amazing.

Deep Silver : If your next zombie game isn't amazing, your officially going to be demoted to "those guys I give 30-40 bucks to every 2-3 for Saint's Row."

Most Favorite Games Company? Why? : Atlus, for actually giving a fuck about releasing Japanese content outside of Japan.

Least Favorite Games Company? Why? : Activision, for milking a single franchise for all it's worth.

EA : The game company casual gamers with more money than common sense deserve.

Nintendo : Children's toys.

Blizzard : Made the best MMORPG ever. Doesn't have a clue how to proceed forward, stuck in the past.

Valve : Most intelligent games, best consumer friendly practices.

Telltale Games : I guess I kickstarted something with them they are still failing to deliver on, and if they do it'll be in two parts?

Irrational Games : Employed my brother, made bioshock infinite, then fired him. Still enjoying the game though.

Capcom , Ubisoft, Rockstar, Naughty Dog, Bethesda, Square (Enix or not), Bioware, Obsidian, Deep Silver : Don't know, don't care.

Most Favorite Games Company? Why?
Valve, smart games, about as consumer friendly as a games company can be.

Least Favorite Games Company? Why?
EA, consumer unfriendly. They are really working hard to squeeze money out of the consumer, which tends to make their games play to reviewers. Good fun for an hour or two of play, maybe, but tiring and boring much beyond that. Now that they are getting into the "fremium" business it's worse.

Telltale Games : I guess I kickstarted something with them they are still failing to deliver on, and if they do it'll be in two parts?
I think that's Doublefine, not Telltale. Telltale did The Walking Dead, Sam and Max, and the upcoming Fables game.

Describe how you feel about the following 15 game companies...

EA : Leave BioWare alone, let DICE make a completely kick-ass new Star Wars Battlefront game, and we're cool. Fuck your shitty sports games though.

Nintendo : Simple to get into, fun, casual games. Try releasing more of them for a change.

Square (Enix or not) : I love Final Fantasy Tactics and FFXII, but why the fuck aren't we getting more Front Mission, motherfuckers? Don't give a shit about FF13 or 14. How about enough of the JRPG bullshit and give us a new Legacy of Kain game?

Bioware : I will pre-order the collector's edition of Mass Effect 4 as soon as I have the option. The Mass Effect series is probably my favorite game series so far. I like Dragon's Age, also.

Blizzard : I still play Diablo 2 sometimes, and I liked what I played of Diablo 3.

Valve : I haven't played anything by them, but they seem to be very customer friendly and Team Fortress 2 looks hilarious.

Capcom : A formerly great company that's being run by idiots. The Resident Evil series has gone full retard, I gave up on Street Fighter after Super Street Fighter 2 and the Alpha series, and nothing they're working on looks appealing.

Ubisoft : Still pretty solid.

Rockstar : The Kings of Sandbox gaming, even though if I'm honest, I prefer Saints Row III and Saints Row IV to GTA IV (haven't played GTA V).

Naughty Dog : Not really familiar with their work.

Bethesda : I haven't played their stuff but I've heard good things about them.

Telltale Games : unknown

Irrational Games : unknown

Obsidian : unknown

Deep Silver : They did Saint's Row III? Nice job!

EA : They know exactly where the game industry is going and how to make great games - they're just the worst company in the world when it comes to actually doing any of those things. They're so bad at it that everything new they try ends up worse than what they started with.

Nintendo : Why does it always take these guys years to have good games for new systems? Also, stay out of "core" gaming, they're not good at it. They need to be happy as a 1st-party company and make more games like those.

Square (Enix or not) : What happened to these guys? I mean, really. Also, MULTIPLAYER ONLY LEGACY OF KAIN IS A STUPID FUCKING IDEA.

Bioware : One of the few who admits to loving Mass Effect 3, even with the endings. If DAI can be a lot more like DAO than DA2, then I'll be happy.

Blizzard : Like an old girlfriend; you know exactly why you thought they were awesome, and they're still probably awesome in that way, but you've mostly moved on (until the next time you meet them).

Valve : Massive respect for their business decisions and attitudes, haven't played a game of theirs in years.

Capcom : Haven't forgiven these guys for the train-wreck that was RE6.

Ubisoft : I like how they seem to be out to innovate the action-adventure genre, and Far Cry 3 was fun. Not much else to say, really.

Rockstar : GTA never die. That is all.

Naughty Dog : Uncharted was awesome, The Last of Us was downright amazing. If you're looking for games that properly integrate cinematic aesthetics without slamming gameplay to a halt, look no further.

Bethesda : Loved Fallout, didn't really care about Skyrim that much, think they're crazy for making ESO subs-only access.

Telltale Games : Only played the Walking Dead, but thought it was fantastic.

Irrational Games : BioShock was one of the finest shooters I have ever played. Haven't gotten to Infinite yet, but really looking forward to it.

Obsidian : KOTOR 2 was okay.

Deep Silver : Not much. Only played Dead Island, and it was so-so. Heard SR4 is good, but haven't played.
