You can request anything from any generation in the GTS just by typing in the pokemon's name. Doesn't mean they're available.

Searching for pokemon to trade on the GTS is... well, not good right now. I wanted a ditto, and the only people trading for them were wanting fricken legendaries and stuff.

I had much better results just by putting a squirtle on the GTS, and asking for a ditto for it. Five minutes later I checked in on it, and someone had already fulfilled the trade.

So if you're looking for a specific pokemon, be proactive and offer up something for it. Tons of people are scouring the GTS right now, it really favors those trading than those looking for trades.

Buyer beware: the Pokemon X and Y walkthrough is only that--a walkthrough. There is no Kalos Pokedex, so you won't be formulating movesets and strategies from this thing. No news on when the real Pokedex will be released. It's not even announced yet. Maybe they'll be making a 3DS app.

So...Eevee are fairly common right outside of the town with the second gym. They're also great on the GTS to get more starters. I'm sitting on all three of the new ones, and I think I'll work on the other originals.

Used a Kanghaskhan to get that Ditto. The version exclusive Pokemon are also great trade fodder. Jesus, GTS is great.

Does it work that way? I think breeding a female pokemon with a ditto still has the same gender ratio as normal.

I thought Ditto always exactly cloned the Pokemon gender and all. I know you can't get females from males using Ditto.

Yeah, I just looked it up. Breeding with a ditto is no different from breeding with an opposite gender pokemon (with the exception that species will always be of the non-ditto) so gender is still going to be the same chance as whatever the ratio is for that pokemon. Which is right around 10% females for most of the starters.

I've had great success on the GTS, but only when I specify the trade. Pretty much anything I want, as long as I offer something I think is a worthy trade, it gets filled within minutes.

What's the deal with using an Everstone while breeding? I keep seeing mention of it, but what does it do for breeding?

It passes on the nature of the pokemon holding it. So, since I want an adamant scyther, using an adamant volbeat holding an everstone will ensure that all eggs produced are adamant nature.
