[Movies] The Upcoming Movies Trailer Thread

I was strictly speaking from an aesthetic perspective regarding those scenes. The dark background with the trails of red smoke as they fall is a gorgeous shot, regardless of any inconsistencies about the believability of surviving a jump like that.

OH MY EVERYTHING! A pointless cross-over between the Scooby Doo gang and a bunch of random celebrities? STOP THE PRESSES!

Seriously though, I stopped getting pissed off at these movies years ago and just accepted as the natural horror that is Time Warner and their generally terrible business deals.

A bit late to the party, but going back to the Spider-Man trailer, didn't they learn it's NOT a good idea to stuff in dozens of villains into a single movie after the last trilogy? Do we really need Rhino, Electro, and Green Goblin?

Hell, I think I even saw Vulture's wings in the trailer, though pretty sure that was just a nod to the fans.

In the same shot you can also see doc oc's set of arms. My assumption is they are building toward the sinister six.

Multiple villains can work if it's done right. Just look at the Nolan Bat-films. The first one had Ra's (twice, technically), Scarecrow, Falcone, and Zsasz (briefly). The second had Joker, Two-Face, and an army of mafia.

As much as Rhino is my fave Spidey villain, even I know he's not an interesting enough villain to carry his own movie. I'd say Electro isn't, either. And I doubt Goblin (whether Green or Hob) will be in much of the film. Vulture and Ock, I bet, are teases for the next film, since I hear they want to do The Sinister Six.

Sorry, man! Isn't there anything in movies that you look at and go, "What?!?" Like when hackers in movies do stuff and it totally takes you out of it.
It happens all. The. Time.
A movie has to pick up some momentum after that to make up (or else it has to distract you with something else, and quickly!).[DOUBLEPOST=1386913682,1386913581][/DOUBLEPOST]
I still love the Willhelm scream. When I hear it, I do a little celebratory arm raise or a fist pump or something.
It's like they're doing it just for us!

I don't really consider the Mafia "villains" in the super-hero sense, so I would scratch them from that list. I am speaking about actual members of the heroes rogues gallery. The first film really only had Scarecrow and Ras (Zsasz was a glorified extra) and Scarecrow was pretty much just a goon for Ras in the end.

In the Dark Knight, Joker was really the only "villain". Two-Face was part of the Jokers master arc and only came into play near the end. He spent way more of the movie as Harvey Dent. If they had the movie start with him as Two-Face it wouldn't have worked nearly as well, because then he would have to share screen time as a villain with Joker rather then just being the Jokers magnum opus of destroying the "white knight". It's why once he did become Two-Face we ignored him almost the whole time, cutting back to his murders now and then, before ramping him up to the climax with Gordon.

I think that is where I am worried. We have no precedent with Harry this time around, so he will likely start a villain luring Peter in. Then we have Rhino twice (once in the beginning as a bank robber spider-man embarrasses, and later with the mecha), and then just throw in Electro half way through, out of some pod in a lab.

I think that is where I worry. I want a villain to focus on. Other ones "can" appear as long as they are one offs working for / created by the main villain, or built up over the movie for a long period. I don't want a montage of Spider-Man fighting super villains one after the other like a DBZ episode, or them to just kind of be thrown in like Tommy Lee Jones in Batman Forever. That worked fine in comics but not in movies.

Not a movie, but still a trailer. Valentine's Day can't get here soon enough! There are some spoiler-ish clips from season 1, so if you haven't watched season 1 yet you might not want to see this.

I'm not normally what you'd call a Ben Stiller fan, but The Secret Life of Walter Mitty feels eerily personal.

Watching the trailer, I'm still not sure what to expect.
I don't know if that's good or not. I'm tired of seeing Ben Stiller play that character who has to suffer through so many socially awkward situations for our entertainment.
Also, I don't know how much influence this will take from the older Danny Kaye version, if any.

Well, both are based on the James Thurber short story. The 2013 film is a more similar to the old film than the story. I've seen it, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a bit of a breakout role for Stiller. He's Stiller, but they actually subvert the constant failures that Stiller's character usually experiences.

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it. I've adored that story since middle school, and I was worried about whether or not Stiller could pull it off. Maybe I'll check it out after all.

Watched the trailer for 22 Jump Street.
And yes. They actually write in a fucking plot element to justify changing the address so that they can "sequealfy" the title.

That looks pretty cool. Refreshing to see Depp in a role more suiting for his acting ability that doesn't relegate him to a stupid hat and silly mannerisms.

I wondered how long it'd take for Hollywood to pick up on Ray Kurzwell's transcendental theory.

Love me some Stephen Chow, can't wait.
Love Stephen Chow! I can't wait to see his take on Journey to the West! I just wished his stuff and the story of Sun Wukong would reach a bigger American audience: I dressed my son as The Monkey King for Halloween and people around here were like, "Who?"

Would it be better if they said "Oh, I like League of Legends too?"

Saw the Lego movie trailer--that looks fun.

I like that my wife and I have seen the Maleficent trailer enough times that at random we can quote it around the house and each know that the quoter is making fun of it.

THIS WILL BE THE GREATEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME.

Fuck *insert your favourite movie here*!

This movie will make you ask, "Schindler who? Gump whatshisname? The what Father?" Because all those movies will be forgotten before the might of this movie.

We were already there with Gump.
