Xbox one

So - as a matter of follow-up, we are now 14 days to PS4 launch, 21 to XB1, and we have yet to see any of either in the Amazon warehouse where I work.

During the BF4 midnight launch "event" at Gamestop, I asked my friend (the manager of the store) when they expected to get their shipments in. They don't expect to get their PS4's until the Wednesday before (13th). Also of interest - the consoles are being hand delivered by Sony. Not via UPS or FedEx or whomever... Sony.

Allrighty - necroing this a bit for some info and a rant.

They announced today a XBone Titanfall editon. Regular XBone console, Kinect, controller & headset + Downloadable copy of Titanfall for... $500

SO I know early adoption and all that jazz... but fuck you MS. Barely 3 months out & you're throwing in free shit. But hey, at least I've got that cool "Day One" achievement. So there's that.

Nice kick in the balls

What'd we tell you? What. Did. We. Tell. You?

Well, at least you know now for the XBox 2 in 8 years.

This just in. Stuff reduces in price after it's released! XBone isn't doing all that great. Should they let it flounder and be a waste of your money since you have no one to play with? Or try to get more people playing the console?

I'm honestly waiting until both consoles see at least a $100 price drop before I get anything... and even then it will probably be PS4. $300 is really the most I'm willing to pay for a console unless I'm getting some awesome extras.

We'll see how things go by next X-Mas. Though, I'm probably going to buy a PS4, if they fix the streaming BS.

If you have a gaming PC already, there really is no reason to buy a One.

Unless you like Halo that much.

If you don't I could understand.

Yes - I get the fact that prices drop over time. But not usually next-gen consoles within 3 months of launch. I guess technically it's not a price drop, however, rather adding a $60 value AAA title. Consumers in the US getting doubly hosed as US launch units did not include any game, whereas most users in Europe got a copy of FIFA14 included. Don't even get me started on the fact of how aggravating it's been for years where consoles get sold with no software - since... SNES? Can't recall if the NES came with Super Mario Bros or not. I was an Intellivision guy & I know that came with Poker & Blackjack.

Anyways, I get why they're doing it. It's selling well, but not PS4 well. Thing is, back in the spring when both Sony & MS had their reveals, and then announced their price points... MS must have lost the coin toss because they had to announce first. Then Sony got to tapdance all over it with a price $100 cheaper. For the better part of 5 months Xbox fans kept pleading with MS that the price was too high, & we held out hope that they would indeed come to their senses & relent. But they held strong & kept saying "Nooope. XBone has the mandatory Kinect hardware, thus necessitating the higher price. Not to mention, just look at the pre-order sales!"

Now 3 months down the road, they're basically admitting "yeah, maybe the price is too high". And it's not like the early adapters have really gotten much other than 3 months of use. At least it's not horribly buggy. The voice commands could use some polishing & the party chat system kinda sucks, but that's getting fixed this month. Titanfall is the first substantial release since launch (unless you count Thief I guess), and there's a few more decent titles in the next few months.

Look, as I said, I know prices drop over time. Just aggravating to have it be so soon. This is the first console I've bought at launch, hell the first ANYTHING I've bought on release day. It will most probably be the last.

I know my SNES came with Zelda: A Link to the Past and I'm pretty sure others came with Super Mario World. I'm fairly certain that started in the N64 generation.

Didn't the N64 come with Super Mario 64? I bought mine used, so I can't remember. Actually, come to think of it, I've never played Mario 64 despite hearing it's an amazing game. Guess I was too busy with No Mercy and Conker's Bad Fur Day.

When N64 first came out, there was no game included. Maybe later they included Mario 64; I don't know. I changed what I wanted for Christmas that year to a Playstation after playing Resident Evil at my dad's friend's house, and then seeing ads for Final Fantasy VII. Though we got an N64 for my brother eventually (used ... huh) I don't regret my decision.

No it didn't, which is why the first game I had for N64 was actually Star Fox 64 (we bought specifically because it had multiplayer)

The one we have came with ... Doom? Though I don't know if that was a launch included title or just something purchased at the same time.

The Donkey Kong N64 console was a thing:

There was a Pokemon Stadium Bundle that came with a game and other stuff:

And a Hey You Pikachu bundle that included the N64 shaped like Pikachu:

The "bundle" I got was the one that came with an extra controller:

Apparently there was also a Star Wars Pod Racer bundle as well:

I'm pretty sure there were other packs as well.

There were tons of N64 bundles. I remember how a guy that ran the local video game store would use a Hey You Pikachu version of the console as a door stop because no one would bother even stealing it.
