Can you sum it up with an analogy?
It's like writing a beautiful piece of literature, and having it interpreted by literalists. Can you sum it up with an analogy?
*raises hand*I think I can count on one hand the women I have met in my entire life that like any form of Star Trek, not counting strangers I saw at a convention.
Maybe just skip around a little? She doesn't need to watch every episode. Cherry pick the good ones and/or the ones that have important character or mythology moments.I want to get Jun into star trek--she likes the new movies--but having her watch the "old" stuff presents problems. First, I'd have to find boxed sets that have Chinese subs. This itself may not be too hard, but even I cringe at having her watch some of the 1st and 2nd season of TNG. Then of course, there's the original series...
Chris Pine wasn't a TV captain. I doubt she'd have referred to a Star Trek movie as "one episode."*raises hand*
I like Star Trek (all of it, except Voyager.) I used to go to conventions, too, usually with my mom, my best friend and some other girlfriends. I even dressed as Jadzia Dax for Halloween.
This is going to effect my GT package rating, isn't it?
EDIT: What, no Chris Pine in your captain's list?
It's a joke Nick, Bryan Adams is universally adored in Canada by both of its peoples. The long eared and the short eared.Bryan Adams
He's the only musical performer that I actually wanted to see in concert. Love singing along to many of his songs. And yet, when people talk about Canada's entertainment sins, he's lumped right in with Justin Bieber and Celine Dion. That's just wrong, in my book. I honestly don't understand what people have against him or his music.
I grew up watching the original Star Trek in syndication...because my mom liked it. She also watched all of the newer Star Trek series, including Voyager and Enterprise. She has all of the movies either on DVD or VHS depending on when the movie came out. Honestly, she is just a big space sci-fi fan. The only more recent show set in space that she hasn't watched is Firefly, but I bet if I showed it to her she would devour it.And even that aside, I think I can count on one hand the women I have met in my entire life that like any form of Star Trek, not counting strangers I saw at a convention.

I enjoyed Howard the Duck.
That movie is one of my guiltiest of guilty pleasures.I enjoyed Howard the Duck.
McDonald's fries taste like salted cardboard to me. Mind you, I'm not a picky eater, but I have to force myself to eat those.Does anyone really hate mcdonalds fries or is it just one of those things people say to up some weird credibility?
Where is the opposite thread? I'm ready for that one.
Sill man. You're not supposed to eat the box they come in!McDonald's fries taste like salted cardboard to me.
Archer is proof you shouldn't pick starship captains based on who's father designed the engine.Well, let me ask it like this: Which of the following pictures is of the captain of the Star Trek you watched?
Yeah, but you saw the episode that flashed back to the picking? The only other candidate was a pompous flash-gordon wannabe who would have treated every alien he came across as Ming the Merciless.Archer is proof you shouldn't pick starship captains based on who's father designed the engine.
But...Carrot Top is one of the least funny, most annoying people in the entertai -I like Charlie. I find his posts funny in a Carrot Top sort of way.
Someone who gets it!I like Charlie. I find his posts funny in a Carrot Top sort of way.
Thank you. Seriously. My grey hair. Not that people hate mine in particular, but almost all of the women I know who are greying spend a lot of time and money on dying their hair. I like my grey hair. It's pretty.
I really enjoyed Titan A.E.There have certainly been worse movies that got higher praise than this one:
Most definitely.I really enjoyed Titan A.E.
It's not my favourite (that'd be DS9), but I always enjoyed watching it. When I had cable and saw it was on, I'd usually turn to that channel. While we're speaking of Star Trek, I'll bring up again that I loved the hell out of Voyager.
CAPTAIN JANEWAYYYYYY[DOUBLEPOST=1395666876,1395666832][/DOUBLEPOST]Remember when Burger King first did their big fry change? I actually enjoyed those. While we're speaking of Star Trek, I'll bring up again that I loved the hell out of Voyager.
In the same vein of Star Trek, I think I'm one of the only people alive that liked Insurrection.
