[Movies] The Upcoming Movies Trailer Thread

The new Annie movie looks really cute. Is it just me, or did it sound like they autotuned the hell out of that little girl? Maybe it's my computer, but in the trailer I watched, her voice sounded really not-real... which is a shame, because kids' voices are precious.

The Rock as Hercules. It's a Brett Ratner movie, so I'm a little wary.

Also, there's supposed to be a trailer for the new Ninja Turtles movie this week.

I don't know, man, it just looks...meh. Yet another huge movie with a shit-ton of special effects while the story is cookie cutter and bland. I'd rather have it the other way around.

I just think it's insane and audacious that in 2013 we had a movie with straight up yellowface that looked like Mickey Rooney in Breakfast at Tiffany's, I just am taking a potshot, I'm probably going to see this movie?
You are such a total fucking moron. Worse, you haven't even seen it and just going by what others have said about it. You know, others who missed the entire point of the movie.

Tell you what. Since you seen to enjoy hearing the opinions of others so much, why not watch this?

Of course, it doesn't matter because you won't watch that or the movie itself because you like to stay in your own little fake, hipster hole just to keep getting a reaction out of people, right? Because you live such a sad life where you have to play a caricature of a person on these forums. You're no different than the fake accounts people used to make, like Candlejack.

I'm tired calling him out on his bullshit. I'm sorry, but I am. He's not a real person. I equate him as no better than a spam account at this point.
Put him on ignore. He has a right to have his opinions, even if they are the same as someone else's.

They're not just the same as someone else's, though. They're JUST someone else's. Take Cloud Atlas, for example. He hasn't even SEEN the damn movie, so he can't exactly have a proper opinion about it, can he?

He hasn't seen it? Um...I didn't know that. I mean, I thought Bruce Almighty was in terrible taste and was vocal about it. Then I saw it and found out how respectful it was.

What's up with that, Charlie? You gotta see it, man! I'd think it would be a movie you'd like.

I've seen clips of some of the yellowface parts, and I've read what the context of it is / the reason, and I still think it's in really poor taste.

You haven't seen it. Therefore, your argument is invalid. Because if you HAD seen it, you would realize that nearly every race and gender is bent with different race or gender actors and actresses. That the same actors play similar characters across multiple stories for a point about reincarnation or reoccurring lives. So having the same actors reappearing - under make up that you can usually tell it's them - purposely makes you think there might be a reason for that. By keeping the cast small and having them reappearing, there's an overarching theme of reincarnation.

And the reason is that the entire movie's message is about racial and gender equality. Hell, almost EVERYONE in the film is gender-bent or race-bent at one point or another. Halle Berry plays a significant white character and even an Asian character that I didn't realize until during the credits. Doona Bae plays both an Irish woman (who, shock of shocks, is married to Jim Sturgess' character and where the two actors reappear in the futuristic story that Doona Bae is the centre of) and a Mexican woman. Hell, the whole movie starts off during the time of slavery, only to end in a post-apocalyptic future where the whites and blacks are completely role reversed, with the blacks in the arguably superior role with culture, education, and technology.

Yeah, they could've easily had different actors in each role throughout the half dozen different timelines, but they didn't for narrative and allegorical purposes.

A lot of this is covered, by the way, in the link I provided above. MovieBob explains it better than I could.

Of course, this entire rant is all for nothing because, as always, Charlie's gonna be Charlie. An ostrich with his head in the sand, ignoring everything so he can keep shouting, "LOL! DIDN'T LISTEN! YELLOW FACING! YELLOW FACING!"

Alright. We are done here with this drama. Move on or I'll move the thread on for us.

Back to your regularly scheduled trailer discussion.

Have to say, they nailed the art style pretty well, even with the 3D modeling. It'll take a while to get used to the animation being that much better.

Damn. Private video. Looked interesting from the thumbnail.

edit: This is from Cheesy, who uploaded a video that turned out to be private and blocked.

It feels like they couldn't decide between a 2d hand-drawn look and a fully 3d style. I wish they would do some cell shading and try and get some outlines around them.

Yeah, the teaser for the new TMNT movie was up for a minute or so before being set to private.

Edit: Let's try this one.

That looks like total crap. Pass.
Aw c'mon! Michael Bay wouldn't take something and make it look like over CGI shit! The only thing that saved this for me was the last little bit where he took off the mask. If it keeps the innate humor of the turtles, it might be worth it.

tl;dr: I think it'll suck but I'll give them my money.
