The Undisputed Unified Wrestling Thread

The entire point of the divas match is to cleanse the palette for the main event and get people to the merch stands, always has been under Vince.
Of course, it's the piss break match. That's always totally what they are.[DOUBLEPOST=1396837148,1396837003][/DOUBLEPOST]Man, has anyone other than HHH ever won a match after the band plays their theme live?[DOUBLEPOST=1396837574][/DOUBLEPOST]It's time for one belt.

It helps to have cool down matches after really big ones and before the main event. Otherwise you get burnout. See the crowd last year.

I don't disagree with the concept at all.

Vince has for years been managing the ebb and flow of stadium sized pay-per views. Ever read up on how intricate their analysis is by the minute for RAW? Crazy.

And the streak ended for the WWE network.

Brock was the last person who deserved to end the streak. Taker should've retired with it intact. He earned that and it would've been ten times more marketable for future DVDs. The streak was one of the last things in wrestling I still enjoyed.

I think I'm done with wrestling. I honestly, truly think I'm done.

You go out on your back, that's been like, THE wrestling rule forever. Only jagoffs like Hogan avoid it.

Not related, I don't like how the match ended one damn bit, but I really liked the rest of Bray/Cena. WWE has some awesome camera work sometimes.

BACK LIVE:

HA HA, fuck you Spanish announce table.

Love, French Announce Table.

Don't care. There has never been a precedent like this. Taker has put over plenty before. After decades of being the consistently marketable guy for WWE, he deserved to retire with the streak intact.

That would be the most unprofessional thing he has ever done and completely against his nature.

He put the company first through out his career and did so tonight.

The streak ends on the first WM on the WWE Network. It's not about what is best for himself or Brock, he did a massive favour for the WWE itself.

Does Daniel Bryan have vitiligo?

That was a pretty fuckin' good Wrestlemania overall. Brock/Taker was a stinker, but was probably all that Taker was capable of at this point and the Shield and Wyatt got shafted (at least Bray and Cena put on an awesome show before) but it was definitely the best show in quite a few years.

I'm so glad I got the WWE Network 10 minutes before the show, that was pretty cool. And the archive seems to work really damn well / easy. I'm gonna watch some WCW shit with Raven vs DDP now

Also, I don't know who any of these people* are, but the prevailing thought I had was that Bray Wyatt should have ended Undertaker's streak next year

*anyone that showed up in the last 6 years or so

I really like Bray and I hope he doesn't get the treatment that all of Cena's usual monsters of the month get after he heroically beats the odds and overcomes them. Bray comes off to me as what the Undertaker wanted to be after he shed the silent zombie thing, only Undertaker was never great live on the mic. Bray seems to be excellent with his crowd work.

I hope Cesaro carries that trophy around for months.
I was hoping that the winner would get pictures taken with the trophy and then get a custom ring. The kicker, the ring size would be Andre's. They could wear it as a bracelet or on a chain.

I'll say this right now about the streak ending, if Brock is booked as the rampaging monster from now on and becomes the absolute monster heel he should have been booked as since coming back from UFC, then the streak ending there is worth it. If not, then there was no point to that.

Also, apparently Taker was hurt really badly early on, which explains the rest of the match. Still taking a bunch of F5s after being nigh crippled is madness. Dude definitely was a wrestler, through and through.

Billy Gunn also got hurt in his minute long squash.

Consider this, on Sunday morning everyone "knew" that the streak was safe and that the YES movement would win. It was startling predictable. No point in watching really.

Streak ends. Now the most secure thing in the history of the WWE is gone, nothing is sure anymore.

Now there is total suspense for the main event. If the streak can end, certainly DB can lose.

Taker did several things last night;

1. Made WM30 a huge success for the WWE.
2. Gave a massive boost to Daniel Bryan.
3. Set the WWE programming free.

Glad you enjoyed it. If you want to check out other things while you have the Network I can't recommend NXT enough (seriously look at half my previous posts in this thread). It's their developmental show, and the best weekly wrestling show out there.

WrestleMania XXX has been the best mania since I got back into it. That's not saying much (27-29 were awful except for a few bright spots), but I'm happy for it.

I loved the Shield match, as short as it was. It gave me pretty much what I wanted to see, and the Shield got to look like the quick, strong, dominate team that they are. Bray/Cena would have been better if there was longer build up. Good in ring storytelling I thought, but it felt compressed. Maybe if Cena's ruthless aggression side had been showing up before WrestleMania it would have worked better. The ending would have been more impactful for sure. I hope they're not done with this, because there's more potential to the story.

Cesaro was awesome, both in the pre-show tag match and the Battle Royal. Seeing his split from Zeb Colter and Jack Swagger made his winning later even better. I just worry for the Tag division. They were starting to get some good momentum and depth in the roster, and this year they've split up their two best heel teams.

Bryan winning great. words hard, joy so much.

I'm not entirely convinced that Taker losing was planned by anyone. It seemed to catch everyone of guard. No build up, no commentary really, and no replay. Even Brock Lesnar's herald was surprised.

How else do you react to the unspeakably unexpected.

They got it absolutely right. The delayed call for the winner, the dramatic pauses, the shock of Heyman and the crowd was perfect.

Confusion -> Disbelief -> Realization -> Shock

I have a love/hate relationship with what they did. On one hand I hate that it was Lesnar, on the other hand the best part of wrestling is when they blur the lines of reality and, to quote Jake Roberts, "fuck with your emotions."

It had to be somebody like Lesnar. He has the legitimate believable background and the legacy of beating the streak does nothing for him. Put that legacy on anyone else and it can ruin their career. Imagine doing the greatest accomplishment in wrestling history and trying to follow it up.

That's one reason I thought Lesnar was a good choice. The pressure of being the streak beater would wreck almost all of the guys on the roster, except maybe Cena.

Never really thought of it like that, good point.

I may currently be the biggest Cesaro mark ever.[DOUBLEPOST=1396882783,1396882472][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, I've read some bitching about them online today and yesterday about Kofi's non-elimination spots in battle royals. Fuck off. Those are always awesome. This one was pretty insane too, the coordination to pull that off was nuts. I almost think that those spots are single handedly keeping him employed.

Did you see the AJ promo? It's from SmackDown, but it's fantastic, and a real shame they didn't show it during the two hours they had to fill for their pre-show

Best RAW of the year candidate almost certainly. I look forward to it more than WrestleMania. Unfortunately I cut my cable this year :(
