[TV] Winter HAS COME! - A Game of Thrones

That was straight up a rape.
I don't think anybody but the director thinks otherwise, if even him. I read about the furor before actually watching the episode, so even knowing what he claimed to have intended, I couldn't perceive it as anything other than, as they say, "actual straight up legitimate rape rape."

And it would have been so easy to fix, too. All that had to have happened was for Jaime to stop pushing halfway, pause, reconsider, and start to straighten up again, only to have her arms come from out of shot below and drag him back down.

Look at me, I'm a better director than...

(google search)

Alex Graves!

He has blue hair and mustache
They could have at least give him a few blue streaks in his hair...

Another bad thing about the Jaime/Cersei development is... (Book Spoilers)

... it opens the door to all the upcoming Cersei psychobitch explosion nonsense to be blamed as having been triggered by her brother raping her as a mitigating circumstance, rather than just Cersei being Cersei and revealing herself to not be so much smart as just plain vicious. Before, it'd have been a character revelation. Now, show watchers will blame her lunacy on Jaime.
Well i hope they keep the childhood scenes, that might mitigate what you're worried about... esp. the well thing...

Just a fun dump of gifs and shit I've seen on Neogaf, which probably came from Reddit. The Tywin one kills me every time I see it.

I think Lena Headey and Pedro Pascal get along alright.

That was awesome. Loved the changes. Doubt we'll see much more from that last scene but I certainly enjoyed that little bit.

It fucks up a certain later plot point though, although technically it was already hosed,
since I guess Gilly fled without the baby already? I didn't watch the rest of the season.

Different baby. Gilly's baby is with her in Mole's town

Yeah, I'm stoked they are introducing new concepts/stories (possibly based off stuff Martin has told them? Maybe?) Either way, I'm 100% for divergence from the books because like I said to my wife after the last scene where Dany is all triumphant, "And now nothing interesting happens to Dany for 3 season."

On another note: I was thinking about the Jaime thing from the previous episode:

I know I defended what the writers did as making sense, and I think it does mind you, but… I think the real problem is they have worked to hard to make Jaime more "noble" and this was a pretty intense veer away from that. So I've changed my mind, at least about it fitting as well with this version of Jaime. Honestly, both scenes, book and show, are troubling for a variety of reasons but at least the one in the book makes a little more sense.

My wife and I are halfway through season 3. I know she's a diehard for the show, but I don't know if I'm gonna be able to put up with it once we get to season 4.

Them changing stuff from the books? Why? Honestly all anyone ever does is bitch about what comes after book 3 so I would think it would be a relief to most. Sadly it means we won't get 3 episodes of Brienne walking through woods but… hey, maybe something interesting will happen.

They didn't wait for the point where the books get tedious to start fucking up. I appreciate adapting something to improve it. Thing is, if you want to change things, then change them, but you have to take into account the nature of cause and effect. If Scene A causes Character Development B, and you change Scene A, you have to carry that through to whatever Character Development B would become. It gets worse with something complex like A Song of Ice and Fire vs Game of Thrones where you have all these secret plots and mysteries and double crosses, triple crosses, allegiance shifting, etc. If the writers want to fuck with it, whatever, but they need to get their shit straight.

You don't hear me bitching about The Walking Dead because I never read the comic.

I'm not saying it ruins the books or whatever what's being said in the Star Wars thread. I prefer the books to the show, and that makes sense as I generally prefer books to TV. I don't like what I'm hearing about season 4. I'm certainly not going to sit through the goddamn rape scene by what was becoming a better character than that since 10 episodes earlier.

Eh, I guess I'm just ok with them screwing with the continuity and the characters. I have nothing to lose. The books stand just fine on their own and I'm open to a variation on the themes and stories of the books. Honestly, I think you said all you needed to say when you said, "they didn't wait … to start fucking up". You think them changing things is fucking up. Which is fine. I'm just not as married to the source material I guess. And I love the books.

I don't mind the changes either. I mean, something actually happened with Bran for once.
And I'm loving the stuff with the White Walkers. It always felt like Martin either forgot about them or couldn't figure out what to do with them. Although I hate that they did all that with the baby. I just loathe anything that puts a baby in danger. My wife and I both cringe and freak out a little now that we have a kid.

Thing is, I never cared about the show that much. It's well-made, but I don't need it. It's always been my wife's thing. She insists we watch it together, and because this is one of the very few things she does that with, I give in. There are worse things she could be into and want me to watch with her (thank the gods she hates True Blood).

I just get sick of all the unnecessary nudity for the sake of having it there. I know that sounds weird, but they write scenes specifically to have sex in them that have absolutely nothing to do with anything. The orgy scene? Just fucking stupid.

Seriously. I'm so with you. It's just getting stupid at this point. Sex can serve the story just like anything else, hell, I can even justify the lesbian/Littlefinger scene because it used sex to tell the audience something important, but it's getting way over the top now.

Yeah, the baby made me uncomfortable - but just the small glimpse into the happenings of the White Walkers got me pumped. I don't know, I feel as if GRRM is stalling in the later books and I'm glad the show is doing away with some of the filler and replacing it with interactions between characters who never interacted in the books.

Bronn and Jaime? 10/10, A+

Well, the baby thing is way more about the fact that we are now hardwired to rush to protect a baby that cries. It's a weird emotional place to be.

But man, I loved the glimpse into the White Walkers world.

Last night, I watched a guy who used to be a ranger from the wall, now a betrayer, drinking from a the broken skull of Mormont while give out an incredible well written speech about his previous life.

All of it was forgotten because they failed to tell me during that entire scene WHAT THE FUCK HIS NAME WAS while I was constantly distracted on the right side of the screen by some other guy was obviously too busy raping one of Craster's women and watching her tits bounce for at least a minute.

I'm only a man, goddammit.[DOUBLEPOST=1398713981,1398713816][/DOUBLEPOST]

There's far worse. The Voice, Big Brother... Survivor. Enjoy what you have.
