Whine like a baby, now with 500% more drama!

I know; it's just that every time that's happened before, I could pinpoint why. I tugged them by accident, I set my laptop on the cord, I threw them across the living room after I finished mowing the lawn (I was young!) ...

This time, no apparent reason. They were working one minute, and then stopped the next. I thought something was wrong with the computer sound output at first because there just didn't seem to be a cause to the problem on the headphone side this time.
Do you know how many headphones I've gone through for the exact same reason? Over time they just wear out, it's why I switched to wireless headphones.

Ah shit, I forgot something. Apparently they're not the most comfortable things, so check out the reviews to get a sense if it's something that might be a dealbreaker for you.
Unfortunately I need them to work for bed, so discomfort is a dealbreaker. Thanks anyway, though.

In more whining news: it's 50 degrees out and some jackass in the apartment building is running their AC. I had to turn our heat off so as not to run up the gas bill while our thermostats competed.

Doom's Adventures in Dating: Episode II - The Final Chapter

Well, Girl 2 (recent love interest) and I finally got to talk and she has decided to focus on herself and her perceptions about dating have changed drastically (as in nobody at all for a while), so we are effectively "just friends", which from my experience / understanding of how relationships work, means that's how it'll stay.

I can't lie and say that I'm not bummed, but we're both on the same page now and can both relax. I'll likely still have that whole "I like you but I have to just be friends" thing going on in my head for a while, but I imagine it'll pass.

So closes the final chapter of Girl 2, and thus ends Episode II.

When will Episode III begin? Only time will tell! In the meantime, follow fanfics online where Doom makes out with random girls whenever he gets a chance.

Everyone, I have to apologize for making Halforums an unsafe place. Apparently, by posting more photos of female cosplayers than male, I have jeapordized the safety of female cosplayers, and made the world a more dangerous place. I apologize for this, I had no idea the damage I could cause.

In other news, I'm getting annoyed at the panicky overreactions that I see in social media on a regular basis.
Con director mocks woman's safety request, sparking uproar
From what I've read of this situation, everyone involved is a colossal idiot. (And I feel sorry for Belle Chere getting her image dragged into this debacle.)

The stupidity, in short:
1. Idiot(s) complain that there are too many photos of female cosplayers being posted to a convention's Facebook page.
2. Con director, an idiot as well, publicly mocks a customer for asking for a refund over this.
3. The internet jumps on the bandwagon and makes it a big stupid issue, and pretends it's about public safety!

You shouldn't be so hard on yourself. After all, you aren't the worst offender on Halforums. I can think of one user who has a much more unbalanced posted record than you do with many, many more pictures of female cosplayers than male.

@LittleKagsin , you have a lot to answer for. ;)

Oh parents Dr. Oz, Oprah, and The Doctors are excellent sources of information. Science? That's folderol. /facepalm
All this time, they told us that violent television shows/movies were ruining Humanity, distorting our expectations.
Turns out it was really reality television the whole time!

I am just NOT tech savvy enough to figure out why I lost my home wi-fi last night - and how to get it back running.

My mom is now at the hospital being checked at the ER for what could either be a viral respiratory infection (which has been going around our house) or pulmonary embolism (long flight here, plus age and being overweight puts her at risk). Add that to our ac not working, the fact that I cannot concentrate for shit, and I have a paper due by tomorrow evening that I am still writing. Ugh. /headdesk

Consistently being shot down. Oh right, now I remember what I really hated about being single: the constant rejection.

I just saw an ad for Cisco Systems, where a camera at a skate park helped to design a better skate shoe. I'M PRETTY FUCKING SURE THAT VANS, HOBIE, ETC. FIGURED OUT HOW TO MAKE SKATE SHOES MORE THAN 30 YEARS AGO!!!!111!!!!!

We've secretly switched your gourmet sixpackshaker with Yoshimickster crystals. Let's see if anyone notices.

I somehow re-injured the foot I broke last fall today at Walmart...then after supper I go to hug my son (who offered to cut my foot off if that would help) and he jumps up and cracks my cheek with his head. This is the same kid who head-butted me last year and broke my nose...

(*(*&$#&@!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Hey, come up to the roof to hang out and have a chat"

"Sure, ok"

"You just gotta step on the paint bucket to climb over the window"

"Yep"

*steps on paint bucket*

*Bucket falls over while mid-climb over the window sill*

*Profuse bleeding and bruising behind the knee*

:(

We are adults. Scientists. Many of us have doctorates. So why the hell would you smoke in the bathroom. Are you that hard up for a drag you can't take an elevator down to the parking lot instead of sitting in the stall choking up the bathroom? I can see your feet...

Man I have all but lost interest in Fade since playing Bioshock Infinite. Elizabeth's tears are so similar to how magic works in my story that even I'm starting to feel like I ripped it off. I know. No original superpowers. And BI wasn't the first. Still. Something about it.

I just saw a long post about how "Don't feed the trolls" is bad advice, and how they ignored, and blocked, etc. and still attracted trolls. Their conclusion "The phrase should be: Do not give the trolls the reaction they seek."
*facepalm*

That's what Don't Feed the Trolls means. The food of the trolls is the reaction that they're looking for. Don't complain about the phrase, complain about your dumb-ass understanding of it.

Also, if I wanted to correct the adage, I'd just go back to an older phrasing of the truth, Proverbs 26:4-5
Do not answer a fool according to his folly, Or you will also be like him. Answer a fool as his folly deserves, That he not be wise in his own eyes.

My parents leave tomorrow. I thought this visit was going to be different. But, of course, my dad had to start an argument over something trivial. It was ridiculous, so I walked away. Then he started in again after dinner on a different subject. /facepalm

Oh let's make it three! Because now I don't know anything about a subject I just researched since his experience is different. Must I always be the one who's wrong?
