[TV] Winter HAS COME! - A Game of Thrones

To be fair, he dies in the book, and he wasn't super-bi wanna fuck 'em all like he is in the show. I think they just kind of upped that, but it wasn't for the sake of killing a bi character since he was going to die anyway. More to better develop the character.

I'll admit, I was yelling "Oh my God" and "Holy SHIT" at the screen when I watched it. I don't think it was so much the character, as the utterly quick and brutal death scene.

Also, mark another gay/bi character off the list. I'd be more pissed if it weren't for the fact that errybody dies horribly, but queer characters seem to have an even shorter shelf life than most.
I'm not so sure about that. I mean, sure they've killed Oberyn and Renly, but Loras is still around and kicking. As for straights gutted, lessee.. you've got Sir Hugh, the former squire of Jon Arryn that the mountain killed, Eddard, Robb, Caitlyn, Robb's wife, Ros the invented prostitute, Viserys, Sir Rodrik, Lysa Arryn, the knight Bronn killed in the Ayrie back in the day... jeez, I'm just barely remembering off the top of my head, I'm sure I'm missing tons. Syrio florel. The goldcloak podrick skewered to save Tyrion, Ser Mandon. Heck, the other members of Renly's kingsguard that Brienne had to kill to escape after Renly's death....

On one hand, I'm thinking "gee, I hope GRRM remembers that", but then I realize there was no reason to have it in there unless he was already thinking ahead to this point. Fuck, that really turns book 5 on its head.[DOUBLEPOST=1401807084,1401806654][/DOUBLEPOST]

It's one of the things the series does great, to mess with you. In other fictions, that's done by having the antagonist win. But in A Song of Ice and Fire, good or bad, nobody gets what they want. Everyone's plans fuck up right and left, and even if they get something they were after, they lose so much on the way to getting it.
Honestly a lot of the qualms I had with the Dany chapters in the third book, I retracted on my second read through after my friend pointed out all the foreshadowing in her story. I haven't started re-reading Feast and Dance though; those might still be boring.

Isn't Dany presented as pretty bi (curious at least) in the books? I think the show has played that down quite a bit.

Very early on, but after that, she was pretty much full on Drogo this and Naharis that.

And I'm getting a weird sense of deja vu from this discussion. Did we all talk about this earlier in the thread? Not that I'm going back to look; it's almost 50 friggin pages.

Clearly Prince Oberyn didn't see Incredibles. He'd know the folly of talking to your opponent, usually a gaffe reserved for villains.

The scene with her handmaiden is after Drogo, though.

There's a scene later where she is sexually frustrated and one of her handmaidens gets her off, but I don't know if she approved of it the next day.

I disagree with that tumblr / caption, I think Emilia Clarke's one of the best actresses on the show!!! She definitely has the trickiest role I'd say out of anybody in the cast. You have to have a lot of charisma to anchor pretty much a whole plotline over 4 seasons by yourself that barely interacts with the rest of the goings-ons.

And for someone who purports not to like a certain actress, that tumblr user sure has a lot of gifs of her.

HODOR!

I think he's the only one that could eat it...
The version that arrived via delivery wasn't quite as tall. It was more sweet than savory, a bit too far to the sweet side for me. Bun was a bit crumbly, and the whole thing felt a little too dry. Tasted good, but I'd definitely order my usual Barracuda (Grilled Pineapple, Bacon, Caramelized Onions, Mozzarella Cheese, and Sesame-Ginger Teriyaki Sauce on a White Bun.) before the Stark. Next week brings another entry in Game of Burgers.

I don't know how I feel about this last episode. In some ways it was masterfully done, the cinematography excellent but the liberties they took... WOW.

Grenn AND Pyp? Jesus.

Oh fuck that. Doesn't Martin already kill enough characters?
I feel that they went on that episode entirely wrong and in general felt underwhelmed. It's beautifully done, don't get me wrong but I would have liked if they had stuck to the book for the Nightswatch... what I got was meh.
