Games on SALE!

My thoughts on Enemy Unknown...

If you've never played an X-COM game but like strategy games, than Enemy Unknown is excellent.
If you HAVE played X-COM before this, then you will be a bit disappointed by what you get.

None the less, the game is fine and can stand on it's own. It's not a BAD game by any means.

I got mad at Enemy Unknown cause it crashed on me before I got a chance to save after making it through a hard mission.

Never played it since.

I bought Enemy Unknown and was hooked for about 12 hours straight through before it felt too repetitive to keep going. I might continue just to finish the story and add it to my "finished" games pile

I got X-Com:EU and enjoyed the heck out of it. It was a close-enough nod to the 1994 original, with some fun and interesting new features. I got about half-way through the story line before my step-son took over the ps3 and played the game constantly. After watching him finish the game, I found myself unenthusiastic about doing it myself, and I haven't played it since.

The problem is the lack of customization. JA2 really poisoned the well for me on that. EU just felt hokey compared to that. Oh ok so my sniper rifle with a scope can see 20 meters? And I can customize a whole 2 items? uhm ok.

Yeah. Heh, this thread and the Steam Sale thread get mushed together in my mind and I thought he was talking about Terraria.

The Banner Saga is 50% as a Daily Deal. Just bought a gift copy for wife. If you miss Bioware of old, I highly recommend this game's storytelling. Or if you like tactical RPGs, because it has one of the best combat systems I've played for a game of that type. Wonderful art style, moving music--it's great, go buy it if you haven't.

Also helps support the fight against Candy Crush "Saga".

Two questions: do you think skyrim legendary will drop more than 66% before the end, and are the expansions worth it? The vanilla is 4.99 right now.

You might have missed your windows on skyrim legendary. I think it went as low as it was going to go when it was a daily a couple days ago. From what I hear, two of the DLC are worth it and one is not (Hearthfire).

Hearthfire or whatever it's called is more or less a non-expansion. It just adds a little mini-quest where you can design your own house.

The other two DLC's I very much enjoyed, and both add a lot to the game. I doubt legendary will go below 66%, because afaik, it never has.

It's up again at 66% right now.

Hearthfire is a glorified mod and exists EXPLCITLY because Bethesda's contract with Microsoft stipulated that they get early exclusivity on two of the game's DLC. So they cranked out Hearthfire to take up one of those slots so they could get Dragonborne out early for PC.

Goddammit, Steam. Age of Mythology is still only as low as 40% off and still way overpriced for such an old game - remastered or not. I want to buy it, but I am not paying more than $10 for it.

Thanks for the advice. I bought vanilla. Mostly because I already spent $30 on games and I had sold all my cards for about $3. So I got skyrim for $2. I have owned it on ps3 but I'm curious enough to try it on PC. I've got a pretty good graphics card so I want to see what it should really look like. Plus the load times on ps3 were deal breakers.

First thing's first, you need to get the nexus mod manager, SKSE (skyrim script extender), and SkyUI. Then I also recommend getting the Static Mesh Improvement mod, and the "Skyfalls and Skymills" mod. Also, naturally, get the official skyrim high res texture packs. You get all that, it will be a very noticeable visual improvment.

After that, you can decide if and which other mods you want to add for other reasons. I can make suggestions on that front too.

Agh ... Odin Sphere. I have been told I would love you, but I really shouldn't buy any more games.
It's a beautiful game, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped. I bought it new for PS2, and I don't think I've got more than 6-8 hours in it, if that. Also, it's hard as fuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

BroForce is 10 bucks. Probably the only early access I'm willing to buy, as it's actually getting updates/patches and my brother gushes about it all the time.

Looking into it more, I thought it had more Terranigma-type elements, not just a better Legend of Mana.

Huh. I didn't know they had Franchise Hockey Manager.

Hmmm.

EDIT: Okay, you got me. I'm Steam'ed.

This is your final reminder: Steam Summer Sale cards disappear on the 30th. If you have cards you don't need or aren't interested in crafting the badge, then you need to ether sell the cards on the market or give/trade them to someone who needs them. If you don't, they will be gone on the 30th.

If you want to contribute points to your team, today is the last day. So use your tokens, craft your badges, or whatever before 10am PDT/1pm EDT on the 29th if you want in on the prize.

I have a #3 and two #8s if anyone needs them to complete a set. Just send me a trade request if you need them. First come, first serve. (I'd LOVE any Shadowrun Returns cards that anyone has though...)

GOG has all of their packs on sale together today, so probably last day of sales (I don't keep up well enough to know, really). It's saddening how many of these bundles I already own completely (out of 30 bundles, I own 8 completely on GOG and another 4 completely on discs/Steam).

I'd sell my Day 8, but since I didn't buy anything from Steam within 30 days prior to the sale, I'm not allowed to sell anything until July 26th.

I'll gladly give all cards or whatnots in my inventory away, but I only see a "sell" button, not a "give to friend" or something button  How do I pass them on? Not that I have anything I'd guess would be remotely useful or interesting.

I have a few summer cards, but not enough for a badge. They sit there mocking me--when I installed steam at work, it told me it was an unrecognized machine and I had to go through the verification process again. No big deal.

Now my badges are locked until 7-13 to "protect my account". Can't sell, can't trade. What a PITA

I'm tempted to get Dino Crisis for nostalgia's sake, and Twisted Metal: Black because that's a fun damn PS2 game. I'd get Wild Arms, but I'm 99% I wouldn't get around to playing it. The sale ends July 14, noon Pacific time.
