I knew about the cats, but home automation?
I think you mean the Connectix (later Logitech) QuickCam.

X10s weren't always just home automation cameras. They were a decent webcam too, although I'll never forgive them for the massive spam e-mail campaign they utilized (the first big one I remember from a company not actively trying to steal something).

And I had a logitech quickcam. It was worse than potato quality.

I know X10 mainly for the switches/outlet/controller combos, not the cameras. I don't remember seeing the X10 camera ads until Connectix was already floundering as a company (late, late 90's).

Around the turn of the century, they came out with a wireless web-enabled camera that they marketed heavily through spam e-mail, pop up advertising, and grey adware. I had a friend who actually bought some to use as security cameras in his house, and of course I read him the riot act about encouraging bad faith marketing tactics.

Next video:

Mark it down - the song will become a nerd anthem. The video... mehhhh - not so much
I do dig me a good sports fight song. Yeah, the video's not great, but Weird Al captures the feel well.

I'll put this on the shelf alongside "Fight Fiercely, Harvard" by Tom Lehrer. The song starts proper at 1:27.

Aaaaaand we're back to amusing lyrical parodies that illustrate how musically bankrupt the original source material is. Seriously, that song's accompaniment is the same 8 notes (consisting of 4 unique notes) over and over and over and over... with no instruments on harmony, just some choral effects on the vocals. It's like... Ross Gellar caliber.
I actually heard the original song for the first time a mere 30 minutes before I heard the Weird Al version - only because it was a EW feature "nominating" songs to become the "summer jam" of 2014. It was between this song & somebody named Ariana Grande - both songs can go jump in a lake. On the Fancy video - I was convinced it was just some blonde actress lip synching, but apparently that's her. Some 5'10" aussie blonde that sounds like Missy Elliot but dresses like Cher Horowitz.

Anyways - it's the prefect situation. I heard the original, so I know where it came from, and I guarantee I will listen to the Weird Al version at least 10X the original.

Motion tracking cameras + oculus rift + wireless hdmi and laptop in a backpack = Holodeck 0.1a

What's interesting is how they keep you within the 10x10 meter space by fudging with your turn and movement speeds in real time.

Even VR scientists agree that 60fps is the minimum for good quality.

Wow - was there not a video for "Radioactive" from Imagine Dragons? I'm really surprised he left a direct song parody out there with no video.

So good! My mother in law is a huge fan of both Weird Al and
Crosby, Stills, & Nash
and she got a huge kick out of this. Glad I was able to share it with her :)

It...actually looks kind of safe. The way the net catches your fall, there's no bounce back, so it absorbs all your velocity. You plunge straight down, so you're almost guaranteed to hit the centre of the net. The whole system looks pretty well designed, actually.

Mind you, you still couldn't pay me enough to do it.

Ride our newest attraction, the "Sky Tower!" Or as I like to call it, the "Impending Lawsuit!"
It's about a 100ft/30m drop, if my stopwatch is sufficiently accurate.
And if you miss the net, it's ok...you'll land on the nice soft pile of crap in your pants.
Looks ok, assuming you don't have a sufficiently powerful sideways breeze.
