[TV] Talk about the last TV you watched, the catchall thread

Just finished up How I Met Your Mother. Well, I can understand a lot of the criticisms about the ending. But don't feel like spoilering so nothing more than that :)
OK, my girlfriend and I watched That 70s Show, Scrubs (most of it), Friends (long time ago when it fresh and new or something :p), Big Bang Theory (last season isn't out yet so haven't seen it) and now HIMYM. We like this sort of comedy - even if, yes, at times it gets static. Anyway. Anyone want to give good pointers for a next show to watch in the genre? I like having a somewhat escapist romcom thing to make me happy in the evening

Have you seen Coupling? Or Black Books?

Parks & Rec is more heart-warming than sexy romantic.

30 Rock less so, but it's incredibly funny.

Better Off Ted.

I don't know if it counts as a romcom but it's one of my favorite shows which only made 2 seasons.

I've been watching Treme on Amazon Prime. I really like this show. I just finished episode 9 of season 1 and it made me incredibly sad.

Oh my god, I just watched the first episode of Blue Mountain State. How have I never watched this before? I was laughing so loud I scared the cat.

It's a hilarious show that goes on 3 seasons and kind of goes off the rails after the first season a bit, but still funny throughout.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D

My wife and I watched the first few episodes when they were airing and couldn't get into them. Since I heard the series got better I decided check out the rest of the episodes. And honestly I actually feel relieved where they took the series. One of my biggest problems going in was I felt that the scope of the show was far too narrow for what you would expect from S.H.I.E.L.D. Compared to what was going on the Marvel movies the actions of the S.H.I.E.L.D team seemed very insignificant.
And then the show surprises you by tying in to the movies and by destroying what S.H.I.E.L.D was and forcing the team to start the organization over fresh from the ground up. Suddenly it became good again. I am also a fan of Ward being a double agent the entire time. I don't know if Ward will be back, but I hope that they don't just let him back on the team and start trusting him again for little to no reason. And there was that bit at the end of the season finale, the one where you get a false teaser of Garrot becoming a Deathlok. I laughed really hard. Good show, Whedon. Good show.

Black Books is one of my favorite shows of all time.[DOUBLEPOST=1406504161,1406504057][/DOUBLEPOST]

This show should never have been cancelled as early as it did. There's not a single person I've introduced it to that hasn't loved it.

I'm pretty sure it was one of the shows that was sacrificed at the alter of "the great writer's strike".

Agreed, fantastic show and everyone I've shown it to has loved it so far. I think it was just never able to pick up its audience the way it should have. I still go back and watch this one whenever I get the desire to.

Started on season 6 of Parks and Rec last night. Thought it was pretty funny how they did a 2 month time skip and a hand-waved oversimplification ("How'd you lose all that weight?" "Stopped drinking beer." "... how much beer did you used to drink?!" "Apparently too much.") to explain "Andy's" sudden change from pudgy goofball to Marvel Superhero proportions.

Archer

So I gave this show a second chance. My first try didn't go well because a friend of mine - while trying to sell me on the show - basically narrated the entire first episode, punchlines and all. So watching the first episode left me feeling pretty ambiguous and uninterested.

Now? I'm 7 episodes in and fucking loving it.

"Cyril! You can trust me. Probably."
"Probably?!"
"Womp-womp."

One fun game while watching Archer is wondering which character is the most fucked? First couple episodes you think Archer, but then you begin to see every other character doing their thing you realize that there is no easy answer.

Everyone is awful, that's what makes shows like Archer and Sealab 2021 fun. You don't have to root for anybody because they're all assholes.

I think he actually meant who gets laid the most.

If it's who is the most fucked up, Cheryl/Carol wins that by a country mile. She can hear the background music.

"Just ignore it, it's non-diegetic..."

Talk about leaning on the 4th wall.

Fixed.

Yeah she's way up there, and really so is Pam. It's especially funny because they seem so 2-dimensional and non-important in the pilot and first couple episodes. Hell, Krieger doesn't even talk until like episode 5 or 6, and now he's my favorite character.

Neil Peart stands alone.

Funniest line in Archer in my opinion.

Ray Gilette- "Yeah, sploosh, or what ever the male equivalent is. So I guess, just 'sploosh', but with semen."

I had to pause the episode to catch my breath.

The Killing

New season. The season/series finale has the single best killer confession I have ever seen. Left me in tears. Instead of going the trite emotionless serial killer route this one was a sympathetic person and you're left feeling the character's pain and hopelessness and despair. Really well done. I don't think that's a spoiler since it's a cop show.[DOUBLEPOST=1407081892,1407081601][/DOUBLEPOST]I should add that it's not the equally played out justified killer either.

Gravity Falls is off to a good start. It looks like there may be more of a focus this season on getting into the meat of the show's mythos and mysteries.
