Kags' Cosplay Thread

You have to use a heat gun, which get MUCH hotter than a hair dryer.
Oh, I know. I've had people bring in computers where they got the keyboard wet and tried to dry it off with a heat gun. "A heat gun is hotter than a hair dryer, so it should dry off faster, right?"
LPT: Don't use a heat gun on your computer unless you're trying to reflow the circuit board AND you actually know what that means.

I'll hopefully have more pictures of my cosplay stuff in the coming days, but meanwhile, Nate's Halo armor build is almost done! :D

He has the rest of it, the bottom half, 'done', the pieces just don't have the straps so he didn't put them on for the picture. But yeah! I'm pretty much completely in love with this and I want my own Halo armor at some point.

All Nate has left to do is to finish edging a few of the pieces with some rubber tubing, and add the straps to the thigh, knee and shoe pieces. YAY! I'm so proud! And all made out of paper.

Well, with Aeris, so long as you wear that wig (yeah, lol those bangs), a long pink dress, a short red jacket, and carry a staff, you're probably good.

Yeah, I know what she wears, but will others? Cause I thought MJ was pretty obvious, but NOPE. ONE person has gotten it, ONE. Makes me sad.

Well if you want to make sure everyone gets it, glue halves of an improbably long katana coming out your front and back...

Or just get a white tank top, a miniskirt, use a paper slicer to cut both cleanly in half, get some suspenders, fingerless gloves and hiking boots and go as Tifa. Everybody will recognize THAT.

I'm joking/being snarky.

Yeah, Pez already told me to do that. :(

Boo!!

Hey, it's real problem! The amount of times that people get my costume/character wrong astounds me. I am, however, just waiting for someone to 'call me out' as Kratos so I can SCHOOL THEM. Is that rude? It feels rude, but I am so ready.

GUYS! This thread is 50 pages long. 0.O I feel like we need to do something to celebrate!

You know, I do have an idea for a thing....we'll see if it can pan out - I won't tell you what it is so you guys won't be disappointed if it doesn't turn out. But I do have an idea. Eheh.

Got almost all of my Kratos makeup in, so I did a test run! :D It's pretty rough, but GUYS, I'M SO EXCITED!! I feel like such a badass and no one can make me feel less than that.

Let us know if anyone tries, we may want to have a word or two with them.

Sadly, I'm kind of expecting it really - it'll be my first midriff baring cosplay and people tend to be pretty verbal about that.

ALSO, Yes, it's on the wrong side, I'm aware. I was just to excited. :D

I know nothing of the art of cosplay, but to me, that's some pretty impressive makeup work around the eye. Just comparing it to the unpainted side, it really gives you an intense stare, combined with the extra shadowing to make the brow appear to fall lower, giving the perpetual 'mean' look.

I'm impressed.

Ah, thank you! I'm no makeup artist by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm glad that I can manage to pull things off and not look like a complete wreck.

Yeah, I know I already said so on FB but damn Kags, that is awesome looking. I can't wait to see the final product. :)

EEHEEee! My husband is the coolest.

Halo armor is all finished and ready to go for the con in 2 weeks. Of course, he's done with his costume in a timely manner and then there's me...

I'm terrible at updating, BUT things are moving right along for Kratos. I'm going to try and have the chest piece done on Saturday, so I can spend all of Sunday and Monday painting everything.

I added blood splatter to the armor pieces and it makes a huge difference to me. It looks so much better! I thought maybe I went a little overboard but then I was all 'Naw, this is Kratos we're talking about here."

SKIRT! :D

Working on the back piece. It's just so time consuming - I have to cut out each scale and then shape it.

Doing a mini test run with everything (before I bloodied up all the armor.)
