The Halforums Appreciation Thread

Frank - it takes a special kind of person who steps up and does what is right. It's obvious to me why you would choose law enforcement. Thank you - wish I knew you in person.

@Poe - you're the reason the ball got rolling.

Frank, you are a beautiful human being. Thank you for being you.

Poe you deserve one of these too, thank you for acting so fast.

Shit, Frank, when the chips were down you didn't hesitate to get out there and help Chad. That's some awesome human decency right there.

Also, Poe and everyone else who collaborated to get the right info in that other thread, you guys rock too.

Seriously, I'm so proud of HF today.

Many, many thanks to everyone who came here with love and support for Leigh. Dave, Frank, and RavenPoe deserve the greatest laurels but everyone who took the time to show concern and love for Leigh needs to be thanked and hugged also.

So, thank you. Thank you, everyone. A thousand times thank you.

Frank, Poe and Dave, you guys are phenomenal people! And I am so happy to be a part of a community that actually does take care of each other, not just says they will, but really truly does. I'm really proud of everyone that stood up and did something instead of just standing on the sidelines.

By the way, when I talked to his dad, they had no idea how the police just happened to find Leigh. He thanked me but this goes out to everyone. Not only for our actions saving Leigh, but getting the full story to his family. We didn't just save one life last night. We saved several.

Please change the title to the Halforums Appreciation Thread.

It wasn't me, it was a network of people that saved his life. I might have gotten his info on time, but I honestly doubt it. Without everyone on last night he wouldn't be here. It was this community that saved his life. I only did what anyone here would have done at the same time.

Heroes never think they were the hero.

I've been reading all morning and I'm ecstatic at the outcome. Any chance of a summary from the deleted thread?

@Chad Sexington, you don't know me but you helped me immensely when you took the time to respond to an anonymous posting regarding back/spinal issues. Thank you so much, I'm sorry I hadn't told you before.

edit: now with tagging goodness

Summary:

Chad made this post and not too long after @Ravenpoe made a thread about how we could get a hold of Leigh. @Frank got up, put on his uniform and went into is office to monitor and help. Poe called me about 2 am or so (not sure of the time - I was a bit out of it) and I got Leigh's address by looking through @stienman's Secret Santa emails (which I can do but have only had to do twice). Frank then sent EMS to Leigh's address, where they found him unconscious and unresponsive. They took him to the hospital and he's going to live, although we do not know how he tried to do it.

@drifter provided me with his dad's email address and place of business. I called his dad who is out for the week. I left a message to have the person who did answer the phone call his dad as it was an emergency. His dad called me and that's when I discovered that they found him alive and that's how dad found out a bunch of anonymous people from the internet saved his son's life.

Then we all started trying not to cry as we came down off the adrenaline.

I remember once describing this place as a "small corner of the internet where we go to post funny things and occasionally come together to do great things." I didn't realize how much of an understatement I was making. @Ravenpoe, @Amorous Eyes, @Frank, @drifter, and @Dave -- you're all Big Damn Heroes. To anyone else who couldn't help this time, don't worry, I'm sure there'll be another chance to contribute. This may be the most epic good thing Halforums has done, but it isn't the first and I'm sure it won't be the last.

I'd totally be ok with this being the last suicide attempt though.

Thanks, @Dave. The feeling of elation (pride?) at learning how this community came together to help a friend in need was intense after reading your summary. I had caught the beginning of the deleted thread, but missed the important update.
