I'd like to be the "Hey it's just ONE poster"- guy, but I'm pretty sure were not gonna see Popeye use his pipe like a blow-torch to get him out of a jam by the time this film comes out.

New Ninja Turtles is up a week earlier, where they go STRAIGHT into Dimension X and it looks AWESOME! A good mix of the original Dimension X from the 80s cartoon, and the nightmares of children everywhere.

I'll revise my review of Bojack Horseman now that I've finished the series. It gets much better, though perhaps a bit late in the run. I guess Venture Bros did the same. There are some genuinely thought-provoking moments later on. The drug-trip sequence is nicely done, and the series ending is good. Definitely worth a watch if you haven't.
Either the drug trip episode, or the one where Bojack met with his former partner Herb were the best episodes in my book. They were both such great dramatic episodes, that make the characters look REALLY human.
Tonight's Steven Universe was pretty great, for a lot of reasons.
Only two more episodes left in the season. My prediction for the season finale? Steven busts out his shield and Rose's Sword to finally man up and be the hero he wants to be. Maybe we'll even get to see the Pearl/Garnet fusion.
They finally addressed the elephant in the room: how Steven feels about his mom. To him, she's just this woman he's never met and whom everyone compares him to. He wishes that he could have met her so he could feel SOMETHING towards her, but he's clearly upset with how everyone compares him to her and get upset when he can't just fix things instantly like his mom could (like healing Amethyst's gem). It's especially heartbreaking to see how upset he is just thinking about how they feel about him... he's so afraid that he's not going to be able to help his sisters/adoptive moms when he grows up and he's completely unable to picture himself doing it. I've been there man and it's not fun to have that in your head 24/7.

And agreed on most fronts(Steven's neurotic fantasy stung me right in the soul), not sure about the sword though. That feels too much for season one, if it happens I'll eat crow- BUT STILL- feels too much to me personally. Him mastering his shield I could get down with though, especially since from the trailers it looks like he summoned it in a combat sitch where previously he could only summon it through a brief moment of ice cream bliss.
One thing I REALLY hope to see again is Steven trying to help the gem-beasts, partly because it might get another Crystal gem, but mostly because that baby Centipeedle was cute as all hell. I also want to know more about the Gem beasts in general, where do they come from? Who makes them? Time will tell I guess...and a third season but that goes without saying.
So my habitual rewatching of the live rebroadcast payed off as I just saw the season finale of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Two words- HOLY SHIT!
This was one FUCK of a finale.
ONE: Irma was a fucking KRAANG DROID?! Anyone who claims they saw that coming only has the excuse of personally knowing or having sex with one of the series creators, otherwise you LIE! Especially since she was based on a character from the 87 cartoon. ALSO- I hope Kraang Sub-prime comes back, freaking love Gilbert Godfried(lets just hope they don't replace him ala Fairly Oddparents).

I'm just glad Leatherhead showed up. It's like... they have a GIANT ALLIGATOR on their side and this is the perfect time for him to be helpful.

Finished this week's Gravity Falls. Not only was it storyboarded and featuring the pixel artwork of Paul Robertson, it also goes all Five Nights at Freddie's. This episode is super creepy.
Freakin' love his work, haven't played Scott Pilgrim in forever. And yes super creepy, with great message that playing dating simulators will ultimately lead to personal misfortune. I'm also surprised they got away with that "Her dad is an octopus man" joke. That was straight up borderline risque and 20 year old ten years from now will be pointing it on Youtube for sure!

The bigger issue at hand is Soos can read kanji. He can read JAPANESE. He really is the smartest guy on the show.
Soos is a man of many talents and wisdoms, though in terms of smartitude I'd say its MacGucket, Stan, Soos OR MacGucket, Soos, Stan. Stan's use of GF tech could just be from reading the cheat sheets in the journals.
I'm often surprised/amused by the stuff Disney lets Gravity Falls get away with. The subtle joke this week that Soos' grandmother said her late husband was in Hell raised my eyebrows, to say the least. These last two episodes have been pretty dark, but I'm not complaining. This is a great show, but I still can't wrap my head around it being a Disney property.
Also, just to jump on the Gravity Falls bandwagon, I've really been digging the secret messages this season, which have been multi-line.

Yeah, the show does such a good job of weaving in not just references to things, but also in how they construct their story, their characters, and the world they live in.
For example, one of the arcade games at Hoo-Ha's was Virtual Owl Trowel.

I find I watch the episodes a few times (we DVR it); the first time for the over-all plot, then a few more to see the little stuff I missed. I had to explain to Mr. Z why the food stand was called Meat Cute.
Those combined cyphers really throw me off, anyone know the order? I ask because while I give up most of the time, I would like to decipher one of these things by myself once.
Also, here's the ad for the next Gravity Falls episode, Little Gift Shop of Horrors, which airs October 6th on Disney XD.
I'd love to be able to solve one of the mixed cyphers once on my own, that'd be awesome.

I'll admit the Steven Universe season finale wasn't the best ep this season, but it was still one HELL of a finale!
I figured the monsters were related in some way to the gems, but I didn't think they WERE gems! I also can not wait for the STREAM of fan-art depicting what the gem versions of the monsters look like, as well as their names.
Other positives it had PLENTY of throwbacks to previous episodes, my favorite being when Pearl said "I HATE fighting me." HA, she was mortally wounded and that traumatized Steven.
Also, I love how the Crystal Gem's mission is ultimately just a bandage on a festering wound. What if all the gems pop? What if they never cure them? Those bubbles in the Crystal heart are a ticking time bomb and I cannot WAIT to see is blow!

I disagree. This episode really set the stage for another season, bringing more questions to the table than before. It also ended in a very Steven way.
There are WAY bigger elephants in the room about than the fate of the monster gems:
- Lapis didn't want to be on Earth AT ALL... so why was she there to begin with? What did she do that was bad enough that Rose and the others would keep her in that mirror?
- She said that the others only cared about protecting the Earth... but what could be more important than that? She also said they only cared about being Crystal Gems. Is she not a Crystal Gem?
- What is she going to say to everyone when she gets back home? It's clear that not all Gems are interested in protecting the Earth, but does that mean they have other plans for the Earth?
My thoughts? Rose and the others came to Earth to conquer it for the Gems (or went there to escape them) and then decided that maybe there was something worth protecting instead. I also think that Steven may have been Rose's final trump card... that maybe she wasn't as nice as everyone says and she pulled a Dumbledore in making him. Steven may not have been supposed to be what he wants to be... there might be something darker in store for him.[/quote]

Okay yeah on second thought it was pretty the best one, just not my favorite. Kinda like how Citizen Cane is the best movie ever made , but my favorite movie is Clerks or Godzilla.

I think its safe to say that joined to help protect the Earth not choice, like she was part of a MASSIVE military draft, and its probably safe to say that the other gems were forced to protect it as well. Their wanting to leave so bad may have been what ended up corrupting them into monsters. Either that or maybe it was simply the Earth itself that corrupted them, you're right there are more interesting things than this but I just want to KNOW!

Actually... looking at the episode list, we still have two more episodes this year: House Guest on the 2nd and Space Race on the 9th. So that wasn't the season finale and those episode titles seem... leading. Things may actually get even crazier.
