[TV] Talk about the last TV you watched, the catchall thread

You know...sometimes its late at night and I see a show I didn't like before on TV. Said show? Ultimate Spider-man. I thought "Hey, that Deadpool episode was awesome! Maybe it wasn't the tipping point!" And then ...yeah Amadeus Cho is Iron Spider. Do...do I need to explain the multitude of reasons why this is stupid? No? Okay.
Oh, no you don't. I knew that show was plenty stupid from the first time I saw it. Even worse is that the creation of that show resulted in them cancelling Spectacular Spider-Man, the best Spider-Man cartoon in my opinion, when it only had two seasons under its belt and some serious cliffhangers.

I've been meaning to see all of Spectacular, truly a fantastic series. Unlike its ham-fisted usurper that slaps on Marvel references to make up for the fact that its a piss poor adaptation. Also rather than let Amadeus Cho be Amadeus Cho, they put him in one of the worst Spider-man costume in the history of Spider-man costumes. And this is including the Future Foundation one!

Seriously, catch up on it and wallow in sorrow over how that gets cut short while Ultimate Spider-Man gets to live on.

I don't know how to articulate this without seeming like a dick. I really don't mean it to call you out @Yoshimickster , but uh. Is there any way we can possibly spin all the kids' shows/cartoons into another general thread? I'm not saying it's not valid TV, I fucking love me some Gravity Falls and whatnot, but it kind of feels like there's two separate types of posts in here - about the like, popular Nielsen rating, primetime TV on AMC, HBO, CBS, NBC that critics write about and all, and then the latest (insert any superhero that ever existed), 3rd different cartoon adaptation and team up whatever that airs on ABC Family? Cartoon Network? Nickelodeon?

You're right. You couldn't articulate it without being a dick.

I have the whole show on blu-ray, having only watched the first season I'm scared to watch the second. Mostly because it's a Greg Weisman show, if I hadn't gone off the rails into stupid land in the second it's probably best that it didn't continue.

Watched Flash and Arrow last night. Flash continues to be awesome, and last nights episode of Arrow was almost great, but you'll never in a million years guess what ruined it!

I couldn't get five minutes into the first episode of Arrow before they start harping on Ollicity nonsense.

The first half of season 1 was painfully chock full of CW tweenster romance crap. They took all the feedback they got and toned that crap down and tuned up the adventure/action themes.

It's CW *and not Supernatural* so you'll never totally get rid of the romance angles, but the show is a lot better now, as most folks here are saying. Give it another shot, maybe skip to season 1.5, and after looking at more than 5 minutes of it, if you don't like it, at least you'll have something informed to say about why you don't like it.

Well yeah, but I meant the first five minutes of this season's first episode.

I'm not sure why you felt the need to exclude Supernatural when talking about romance angles...

Finished s5 of Clone Wars.

Fuck me, that last episode almost made me cry. I can't even imagine what it was like having that be the end for so long.

Marry Me is really good.

Mulvaney and Brooklyn Nine Nine are starting pretty great this year.

I lasted less than 5 minutes in the Selfie pilot.

Modern Family is really plodding and I only really watch it out of routine.

I need to do a marathon of The Knick and Boardwalk Empire.

I'm enjoying ShondaLand to varying degrees (Scandal, Grey's, HTGAWM)

I think that's most of what I'm watching? Key and Peele and The League are also kind of funny.

The League has been so bloody inconsistent the last couple of seasons. Some episodes are gutbustingly funny and others are downright terrible. I love the Raffie and Dirty Randy episodes though, I could seriously watch an entire series that's just Jason Mansoukas (spelling is wrong, I know) and Seth Rogen just adlibbing.

Yeah, they're not having their best seasons? But I'm still watching and it's not bad enough to make me stop.

I do really love Key and Peele doing the car joinder things instead of audience segments

Actually, I disagree. I think the car bits are what's breaking the formula this season. The audience bits feel more improvised and off the cuff and often had great little bits in them. The car talk just seems like they are reading from a script and it's not working for me as well.

This week's South Park was ok. Not hilarious, not awful. I chuckled maybe once. I don't consider my time wasted for watching it exactly, but I'll probably not go back to watch it again, and there wasn't much memetically quotable about it. Handi-camp was one of my least favorite episodes of last year, so I was not enthused to see its arc return, and it's hard to get worked up about the biting social commentary of ride sharing.

Finally just about caught up on GoT. I only have the last episode of season 4 to watch. I had to turn my head for a certain scene in episode 8. So, so gross.

@midnight is fairly hit or miss, depending on the guests - it's a little disheartening to see how poorly some "comedians" can think on their feet, and how often they try and go to the "edgy" material wears off kind of quickly. There's also a really bad case of "Okay, who the fuck are these people?" in many episodes. And then they keep coming back.

Adam Devine's House Party - Wow. Who the fuck is this for? Adam Devine isn't funny. He's not funny on Workaholics, he's not funny on his own, and he sure as fuck isn't funny in this. Most of the acts are mediocre, and the scripted bits are painful. I guess it's trying to capitalize on the "self-medicated Adult Swim viewer" audience, but it doesn't have the silly cartoonish absurdity to contrast with the hideously unfunny dialogue.

Man VGHS really pulled the proverbial "Drama tag" this season, BUT I still like it! Especially
Ted standing up to his dad...even if he had to join the dark side to do it.
