[TV] Talk about the last TV you watched, the catchall thread

For serious. I mean they even got David Tennent to play the same character, but with a horrible American accent...
Oh shit that's not a joke. I gave you a funny rating before I looked it up. Didn't recognize him in the previews without an accent.

Weird. I searched for Gracepoint and that didn't come up. Sorry.[DOUBLEPOST=1414125234,1414125201][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, I've heard that they changed the killer so even if you watched Broadchurch you won't know what happened.

It's okay. :D

Yeah, I heard around episode 7 it changes from the original. I've been vaguely paying attention until things start to head in a different direction.

I will say this: having watched the original, there was a few people it (plausibly) could have been. If they follow the same formula, I'm curious who they make The Killer this time. It's like Clue!

Kind of a tangent to this thread, but the latest season of Honey Boo Boo has been filmed but will not air. Why? Because mom's new boyfriend is a convicted child molester. Oh it gets better.
  • Dude spent 10 years in prison for "forcing oral sex on an 8 year-old".
  • The child was a relative of the mom.
And here I thought the show couldn't get any more redneck.

Holy shit... Sadie just straight up MURDERED a Gem Beast to save Lars. It doesn't make up for the fact that she trapped them all on the island though and it really makes previous episodes different in this light. Lars might be a jerk, but now Sadie looks like she just can't take a hint.

Speaking of, that's why Sons of Guns on Discovery got cancelled. The main guy on the show was arrested for aggravated sexual assault of a child.

It's almost like making shows about the worst possible people in the world is risky, because they might get arrested for being the worst people in the world!

If you were dating someone who made your 8 year old daughter give them oral sex and went to prison for 10 years, would you hook up with them once they got out? I would like to think the overwhelming answer from everyone here would be first :puke:and then HELL NO!

the article said:
But the network is not turning its back on the kids, telling us, "Supporting the health and welfare of these remarkable children is our only priority.
Uhh... what about when those kids were eating mt dew infused butter as a meal?

I liked it way better than I thought I would. Nice start for sure. It "felt" more like Star Wars than anything else in quite a while.
Very true, while Clone Wars was good(or at the very least got better) they lived far too clean. In THIS series, they are the only ones fighting the damn empire and they gotta scrape to get by. Also Canan and Jeb are kick ass.

Heh, yeah that was freakin' awesome. And oddly enough the fans major response was- "OMG SARS IS REAL!"
Worst couple namd aside, they want to distract themselves from the fact that the reverse is most likely true. When it takes a deserted island to get a guy you see EVERY day to make a move on you, its probably not gonna be. Still, future eps that focus on this are gon' be JUICEY!

Constantine on NBC was actually pretty good. I don't know if it was a faithful adaptation of Hellblazer, I never read the comic. But just as a show about an anti-heroic protagonist against the literal minions of Hell, it worked well enough, the effects were good, and it set up a very creepy atmosphere. I think the show could be slightly better if it were a cable series, but the first episode is promising.

(They're pronouncing it "constan-teen", not "constan-tyne", which apparently was a big deal for some people.)

Actually, it's pretty faithful to the comic so far, setting up his past with a demon hunt that went bad, killing most of his friends is part of the comic mythos.

Grimm is back on! It was a little jarring at first getting dropped right back into the climactic situation after such an absence, but after a while it was easier to roll with. Good stuff. Kinda surprised they're still trying to work in a Wesen-of-the-week with all the arc plot being advanced, but I guess when you got 42 minutes to fill, you can do that sort of thing.

Under Wraps: A Cartoon Network special about a kid who meets a mummy, and nothing to do with the famous menstruation special. However, Cartoon Network misappropriately labels it as said special and I find this hilarious.

Latest Gravity Fals...holy shit. That's not an excited holy shit either, that's one of somber amazement.
The reason MacGucket is insane...is because of him. Also its cool seeing him being down right heroic, nice change of pace. And when the memory file just goes to static and its aaaaaaaaaaall quiet, that speaks all SORTS of volumes. Just a damn good episode, and I love the misdirect to all hell.

It makes you wonder if
Grunkle Stan is really the "bad guy" all along.

It's very apparent that Stan will have to choose between the kids and whatever he's trying to do in the finale of this season. It being Stan, the only reason I could think of him not doing the right thing is if the fan theories are right and he has a twin beyond the portal. Regardless, Bill's probably involved because he dropped everything to help Gideon the second he heard Stan's name.

I really, really hope they explain the friction between Stan and Bill Cypher by the end of the season.

I subscribe to the twin theory(also the Grunkle Stan is the twins grampa and vice versa) but I'm not sure with him being so much evil, but insanely ambitious. Do I think he'll fight with Dipper about it, OH you bet your life babies. I also think the space portal either released Bill into our world, OR created him. If the former, Bill probably wants to hone the portal into his place of origin and summon all SORTS of nasties upon the world!

I hope the newest Halloween Adventure Time ep was funny enough for the fans to stop bitching about the newer more dramatic episodes.

Also I saw the first chapter of "Over the Garden Wall" a day or two ago, and I LOVED it! Looks great, and from what I've seen on Cartoon Network's youtube page the music sounds just as good.

I as well, but there are just a SLEW of fans who keep whining about how the show keeps taking darker turns rather than continuing to remain silly through out when the major theme of the show is to do the opposite of what the viewer expects to happen. What, should the show be like Family Guy where they sacrifice character and plot for humor on a weekly basis? And one of the ironically weirder complaints, is that some think the show has gotten TOO weird. Uh...no its pretty much the same, maybe a little less in later eps.

I feel like I'm missing something crucial on this Gravity Falls show... I watched it with my kids a couple of times, and it seemed like pretty standard afternoon fare.

It's got that Steven Universe/Adventure Time/Regualar Show thing going on, where you can usually watch the episodes in any order and enjoy them, but true enjoyment comes from paying attention to various details as they show up because the show has an actual continuity. For instance...

Gravity Falls:
In every episode before The Time Traveler's Pig, the Time Traveler is hidden in a scene.
The Blind Eye Society emblem showed up in several episodes as graffiti.
Bill Cypher's silhouette shows up hidden in several places.
The codes to break on the final card of every episode usually contain clues to the mystery or funny jokes about the episode.

Steven Universe:
The desert full of ships in Steven and the Stevens is actually the ocean during Ocean Gem, imply they went forward in time instead of backward.
Onion Kid' various activities.

Basically, the current generation of kid's shows thrive on being standalone enough to watch whenever, but with rewards for the truly dedicated. It's turning them into classics.

So tonight's South Park kinda rang flat with me. I didn't really laugh until the very end, with the singing minstrel, and even then it felt like I had just been waiting so long to laugh at SOMETHING that it got more of a laugh than it deserved.

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown - I never get sick of this special. And I've had a bad day, so it's nice to sit back and watch this with some hot spiced (and spiked!) cider.
