Ne'er-do-wells are setting up roadblocks in New Jersey. I don't recommend you stop for them.

New Jersey man Ivan Tukhtin was driving down an unlit road late at night, when he spotted a roadblock in his path and two men standing by waiting for him to pull up. He later found out that the two guys were wanted by police..

Wonderful.

Something like that happened near my home a few decades ago. Except it was teenagers extracting a toll.

They were a holy terror until they pulled over a pair of military police officers.

Did you guys enjoy the cold snap? Well, bundle up and bend over, here it comes again.

Winter is here, and it's about to slap you right in the face.

The Polar Vortex, the weather system with the buzzy name that ruined your life earlier this year, is coming back next week, according to AccuWeather.

This in part thanks to Super Typhoon Nuri, which is some are calling "a growing meteorological bomb" over the Bering Sea.

So what does this all of this mean for you?

"The combination of cold air, wind and other conditions, including snow in part of the Midwest and northern Plains, will send AccuWeather RealFeel temperatures plunging into the single digits and teens. Actual high temperatures may not reach the freezing mark in portions of the northern Plains and Midwest. Such cold will raise the risk of hypothermia and frostbite for those not properly dressed."

"In New York City, it is possible temperatures may not get out of the 30s on one or more days from late next week into next weekend."

Isn't it nice that we live SOUTH of the cold-ass stuff? Lowest temp on our forecast, as an overnight low, is 38f. Highs all expected to be in the mid-50s to mid-60s.

Yeah, but 38 lows at night are a bummer, the cat will be disappointed I won't be able to leave the door open for him to go in and out as he pleases.

Oh Colorado. We have frost in the morning and 70 during the day. But I want it to get colder because we are going skiing for Thanksgiving so the snow machines need to be able to kick it into high gear before that. So yay cold snap!

Just a couple of years ago, everyone was predicting Adobe's subscription model would fail, just like QuarkXpress failed back in the day when they raised their prices.

CC now has over 2.3 million subscribers. I think Adobe won this round.

I can't believe I didn't catch until it was pointed out to me today that the antagonist in Django Unchained is named Candy and the protagonist is aided by a dentist.

I disastrously failed that wordplay test

Not really. How many people are using unlicensed previous versions still? I'm betting it's 5-10 times that number, especially outside of the US. I'm also willing to bet they are charging WAY less outside of the US and Europe.

Then again, some money is better than none.

That's not my point though. It's not that they caught everyone using pirated versions. It's that the dire predictions of their failure were not only wrong but very wrong.

Amy Jo Johnson (the original pink ranger, among other things) donned her outfit as some sort of goal in her Indie-go-go campaign to fund her movie. She wandered about Toronto guitar in hand and crooned.

Hard to believe she's 44. She's aged better than I have, that's for sure.

I saw her in a movie about eating disorders when our gym teacher didn't feel like teaching. So...two dozen screenings?
