Why not? They've gotten DDoS attacks a couple times in the last few months.
The Blizzard servers are spread out among a lot of different data servers and have a lot of redundancy in place. They have been getting DDoS attacks for quite some time now and they have handled them with no issues at all...until the new patches went in. It's way too convenient of an excuse on a terrible launch to point the finger elsewhere.[DOUBLEPOST=1415937927,1415937874][/DOUBLEPOST]Additionally, all realms go down at the same time because of the DDoS? I don't buy it.

You obviously never tried to login when they were under DDoS attack. Last time it happened I was unable to play any of my Blizzard games.

I'm seriously thinking of moving my main to another server, but my characters share so much stuff. I have all but Engineering at 600+.
:(

Ran a couple of my Alliance toons through to the barracks quest this morning. Was still the only guild member on.

I was on my Hunter but didn't see you online. Are you not on my friends list? I'd have switched over!

You are on my friends list. Why didn't I see you on? What time were you on? Could it be when I was locked out?[DOUBLEPOST=1415941074,1415941045][/DOUBLEPOST]
You were on when I took my monk through, but in another guild. :p
You should have messaged me. I'd have come over.

It was about 7-8am this morning. The dust of the initial rush had settled.

Hit the queue trying to get on Dark Iron, then couldn't get to WA when attempting to change servers.

THEN, instance not found when trying to get to the portal to start the new content on my monk.

So I ran my DK for a couple of hours doing quests for Durotan, et. al. :p

Though I had a few hiccups getting on earlier, after the world server came back up it was smooth the rest of the night. I hit 91, did a large portion of Shadowmoon Valley quests, some archeology, professions, and garrison building. Overall, felt very productive.

I've been getting as many alts as possible through the intro quests and into their garrisons. But now I have to stop for unscheduled maintenance.

Just happens to coincide with real life errands. :D

Got on for a half-hour this morning. Just in time to get my garrison started before the maintenance window hit :p

Unfortunately, I haven't had as much time to sink into the game as *some* people :whistling:

Man, I know this, you Alliance folk have a WAY lamer garrison. Icy brutal mountains with lava pools all around is so badass.

Also, there's no way Maraad and whoever else follows him around is as cool as Durotan and Draka (especially Draka).

Now you make me want to play Horde.[DOUBLEPOST=1415971643,1415971626][/DOUBLEPOST]Or play at all for that matter.

I will say though, the DDoS attacks over the summer made the game way more unplayable, probably helped that there were way less people playing, so the complaining was less as well. :p But like I said, I was on a low pop server, only had one server crash that resulted in me being in a queue and I got right back on after a minute. My husband's queue was 45 min tops.

Yeah, amazing, I mean DDoS attacks never usually stop, they just go on FOREVER, AND FOREVER AND FOREVER.
They certainly don't rise and fall that fast. Especially if they are script kiddie networks that do it. They may not have the peaks that an initial attack might have, but they are continuous and relentless, like waves. The median DDoS attack on large companies lasts several days to a week. This data is from security companies.

Could this have been a combination of population and DDoS? Certainly. But to throw everything off and take none of the blame is disingenuous. We've seen this sort of thing too many times on launch days from Blizzard. They'll take your money, but not responsibility.
