[Handheld] Pokemon X/Y and Alpha Centari with Beta Ray Bill

I'm just gonna treat this as a general Pokemon thread. New games drop in a week, and while there are the expected legendaries from the original Ruby and Sapphire, there's a shit-ton of others as well:

Pretty much if you've missed anything from Diamond/Pearl forward, aside from the box art ones (Palkia/Dialga, Ho-Oh/Lugia, Reshiram/Zekrom) you'll be able to catch it for your Pokedex in this game. And of course, X/Y have the gen 1 legendary birds and Mewtwo.

I was going to just buy the cartridge for this game so I could sell it in a year when the next Pokemon game comes out, but this looks like it's going to be the definitive game for gen 6 and I'd rather download it so I don't have to wonder where it is if I have Persona Q or Mega Man Zero Collection in my cartridge slot.

Also, for those who haven't played the demo, moving around is a lot more fluid in Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire. Whereas X/Y movement was either slippy on the skates or jerky on foot, OR/AS has full all-directional movement when walking around ... you know, like a real modern video game. It's refreshing and is going to make it difficult to go back to X/Y's weird semi-tank state.

Saw that yesterday. That is an insane amount of Legendaries.

The demo does give me a good feeling about the Hoenn remakes. It was my least favorite region, but it does look very nice rendered in the 3D engine.

Wow, that really does look like basically every legendary except the box art ones.

Time to recapture the legendary gerbils!

Can't pick up my pile of preorders till midnight. I can wait till morning. /lazy
Got a couple of download codes waiting at Gamestop for my cousins ... they can wait too.

Popped into the eshop on my wife's and my 3DS's; started downloading immediately. Refreshing experience compared to Smash Bros last month.

That's what you see as the start of the new games; i.e. no improvement. Then there's a twist!

Your character is fiddling with some handheld electronic, using it to talk to Professor Birch and use the map, and it has the same graphic capability as the Gameboy Advance.

Apparently, you can find about half the mega stones before the endgame, and you can now find them at any point in the day. Neat! Big improvement there.

On the legendary front--in addition to all those legendaries listed earlier, the box cover ones are also in this game; they're just version exclusives. Ruby gets Ho-Oh, Palkia, Reshiram, and of course Groudon, while Sapphire gets Lugia, Dialga, Zekrom, and Kyogre.

Everything in-game legendary is here except the gen 1 and gen 6 legendaries.

So, I think I'm going to wait to take on the Elite 4. There's a not-so-rare game freeze glitch that can occur right after you complete the game, and in some cases, it's bad enough to wreck the save. It's basically the new Luminose City glitch, but far more difficult to avoid. The patch comes out early December, so it's not a long wait, at least.

So, I got Omega Ruby. Figured out how the DexNav worked. And now I'm obsessively scouring Petalburg Woods, looking for a Shroomish with its hidden ability, so that I can get a Technician Breloom.

Maybe I should just settle for Effect Spore.

Okay, either a lot of people named their Zigzagoon "Thomas", or I'm constantly receiving the same Zigzagoon again and again on Wonder Trade.

All I keep getting are Ralts. No one Wonder Trades anything of value except on Christmas Day, where you can usually count on some people putting out starters or other favorite, low level pokemon.

I've gotten some interesting Wonder Trades so far. Got a Bagon, which I'm pondering breeding and then adding to my in-game team. Also got a Fletchling, though unfortunately it doesn't have its hidden ability. Oh, and a Bidoof with its hidden ability Moody, which might be fun to abuse.

You could always farm BP and buy an Ability Capsule to switch that Fletchling's ability.

I am reminded that I wish there was a game where you could do contests or gym battles, and then the game splits objectives depending on your final goal. The other path could be a fun side quest for you if you want to try to do both in one game, but I always loved the idea of pokemon contests. :p

Hey, uh, how many of you guys have Pokemon Bank? How often do you use it? Do you feel it's worth it?

I kinda, sorta, desperately want to use some of my XY pokes in my OR game, but it costs money and I really don't want to spend that money and oh god...

It's 5 dollars for an entire year. I'd say it's worth it just to transfer stuff from one game to the next, especially if you have nostalgic ones you want to keep or IV trained ones for competitive play.

It doesn't let you move items, though. You still have to trade those Pokemon over the traditional way to move items.
