[PC Game] Heroes of the Storm: Halforums Storming it Up better than Halle Berry

Not that that's hard.

We have a thread for talking about HotS (not Heart of the Swarm) and now we have a thread for playing it. Here I will keep updated with everyone who is in the beta and what their battletags are, so that we can organize games and not have to play with weirdos who do nothing but go way too deep as kerrigan and then complain that their team sucks.

Post your battletag and when you're available to play, and let's get this shit going. I'm already friends with a lot of you, but I won't be posting your battletag until you post that you want it shared.

The team so far:

Ravenpoe#1361 -- @Ravenpoe
AnnaDei#1673 -- @Dei
Telephius#1462 -- @Telephius
Darsiek#1741 -- @Bowielee
Potatofamine#1633 -- @CynicismKills
Rovewin#1716 -- @Rovewin
laughingboy#1117 -- @phil

AnnaDei#1673, almost always available during the evening, unless I magically grow a life once and a while. Actually, every day but Thursday once derby scrimmages start up again.

Telephius#1462 usually in the evenings after 9pm cst

Darsiek#1741

I'm usually available evenings and weekends. Tuesday and Thursday mornings, I have class at 8AM, so I won't be able to stay up very late Mondays and Wednesdays.

I will, depending on what time you mean, only because dinner and things will require my attention for a bit. (MST and all)

Just started playing last night so I'm still getting used to the game (definitely has some differences from LoL/DotA2), but as of right now I'll be getting used to Muradin, with a side of Shaman.

Not that I would recommend this unless you REAAAAAAALY want to play and haven't gotten into the alpha or beta, but the Founder's Pack is available, so you can basically buy your way into the beta with 3 heroes, 1 alt skin for each, and a cyberwolf mount.

Just came to post about that. You get Diablo, Raynor and Tyrande, plus a skin for each, some gold and if you didn't have it yet, beta access.

Raynor is boring as balls, fyi. Haven't tried Diablo or Tyrande yet.

A healer who stuns is an assassin's best friend. Plus, look up insane Tyrande owl skillshots online. some of those are CRAZY.

I've been playing a lot of Muradin still, though there was a pack on sale that gave me some other heroes to try out. I haven't had a lot of time to sit and really dig into leveling, though, so my Muradin's only level 3 (along with my personal level).

Generally if I'm online it's later in the day, anytime after 7-8pm PST until 1-2am PST depending on what I have to do the next day.

Ok I am gonna try this a bit more.
Battletag: Rovewin#1716

I don't have a favorite position yet so I'm happy to fill where needed.

Isn't Falstad dead?

BTW, I love the character interactions at the beginning of a game. The one between Falstad and Thrall is great.

Falstad: And then the guy says "Isn't Falstad dead?"
Thrall: I wish you would stop telling this story.

Me and @Rovewin got to play a few games tonight. We started out with a coop game, since he was trying out Arthas for the first time and I was getting some levels on Chen, before going into a real match. We had a little trouble in the midgame, but made a solid comeback and defeated the enemy soundly.

It helps that they had an Abathur*. 4v5 all day long :p

*This is just a poke at Bowie

Where can I find a good general guide for the game? I've never really played a whatever-this-genera-is game and don't know what the main idea behind all the roles are.

Play the tutorial first, it'll give you a decent grasp of the gameplay/controls and one character's playstyle (Raynor). After that I'd suggest choosing a couple characters you're interested in learning and hitting up YouTube and some AI matches. As for learning specific maps and such I can't say, but everyone else posting has a lot of experience with the game now and might know better.

Roles in HotS aren't as strict as other mobas, so don't worry too much about it. I'd say just play the game, and if you want, you can watch high end games to see how their players work together. When I started playing LoL, I basically just learned by watching others play, though I think HotS is much more forgiving for new players.

So I've been playing and practicing a lot. Finally got my first taste of quick match tonight! It was pretty cool since I partied with someone a knew and a few of his friends. No one got mad even on the one we lost. I've been trying to be communicative and admit my own mistakes quickly and giving shout outs to good plays I see. I don't know if that's helping or if it's just the state of the game now.

It's really different to the way I'd been playing against AI. The last match really highlighted just how important grouping up is. The enemy team was doing a great job of getting together with good positioning, stunning those of us out of place into their ultimates and then rolling the survivors of our team. I also learned the importance of either fully committing to an Illidan fight or avoiding it at all costs. Any in between is death with that guy.

I haven't been able to play in a couple months because I've been so busy at work, but hoping to get some more matches in soon!
