[TV] Talk about the last TV you watched, the catchall thread

Laurel's INFINITELY more tolerable than Huntress was who was INFINITELY more tolerable than Count Vertigo.

Unrelated.

Did anyone else watch Togetherness on HBO? It's Mark Duplass (of the League) and his brother's new series about a married couple, a recently homeless friend and the wife's aimless sister. I really liked it. Amanda Peet is fantastic as the sister.
Yes but neither Huntress or the original Count Vertigo are in EVERY episode.

I hate TV watching in real time. I want the whole series at once, to watch at my own pace (which is usually several episodes at once, then a day or two of nothing)

I just finished up season 2. Still loving it, the whole Deathstroke storyline was great. I'm surprised with all this character hate, no one says Thea. I can't think of a more insufferable character on the show.

BTW, what's with the push to make Amanda Waller thin nowadays. 'Merica can't handle a badass curvacious black woman?

^See that is what I'm talking about. Thea almost immediately pounces on her brother in season 1. Never mind what he's been through or that that he probably has PTSD. She's such a selfish jerk sometimes.

All I know is that it started with the botched attempt at having the Green Lantern movie be the start of something bigger like Iron Man was.

For me, Laurel is insufferable and inevitably going to be the Black Canary which ranks her above Thea. Plus the screen time. It doesn't help that Sarah is a much more interesting character and actress, who is not written by Jack Nicholson in As Good as it Gets, but because the first season named her Dinah Laurel Lance we're going have to put up with her. It's why I'm sad for whats eventually going to happen with Cisco and Caitlin over in Flash.

Knope, it moved to Tuesdays. Both Episodes are already up on Hulu though, so you can watch it there.
Also on demand, next time I'm recording it as NBC's demand videos are insufferable to go through.

LOVED the premiere eps, great to see the old gang again.
Likes:
1.) Andy and April's mid-life crisis, and how Andy broke his arm cleaning something rather than doing something Andyish. Nice change up.
2.) Ben and Tom's little moment, sweet and funny.
3.) Ron and Leslie's blood feud- WHAT IS MORNINGSTAR? GRAH(autocorrected right that time).
4.) While Andy is more mature, still the lovable oaf that was supposed to be in one season but stayed because he's great.
5.) Jam not just seeing Leslie as his best friend but also Ron, PLEEEEEEEEEEASE let there be an ep where he tries to hang with him.

Only dislike was how it was obvious that Lucy has a boyfriend. Felt a little paint by numbers.

So, I just finished with Episode 4 of the current season of Arrow, and MAN, SCREW THEA!

See my post above. Now you can add fucking hypocrite to the above.

'Course, I'm fine with Laurel, so eh.

Very interesting that they cast Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer, former Superman playing The Atom is kind of weird, but I like Routh, so I'm fine with it. Chatter is that The Atom may be the next spin off. I hope it happens because the last thing I saw Routh in was a freaking Hallmark movie, which in conjunction with Lifetime, is where acting careers go to die.

Latest Steven Universe was weird as all hell, I APROVE!

"You might even like being together and if you don't it won't be forever, but if it were me, I'd really want to be a Giant Woman!"

The fucking song about fusions foreshadowed this ENTIRE EPISODE.

Garnet's reaction was AMAZING and her advice was spot on. The idea that she might be a fusion that just liked being together enough that they stayed permanently is starting to show itself again... but I wonder why they never tried simply syncing up with Steven instead of making him sync up with him?

I did not catch that, first Lion now this. Neat!
And I think the reason for not syncing up with Steven, I think it's the same reason why they have trouble teaching Steven to be a Crystal Gem. That reason: they are Crystal Gems. They look human, they sound human, but ultimately they live generally outside of humanity. Not saying they aren't trying to, but it's probably not easy teaching a generally non magic hominid to be magic with no reference of being not magic.

I've been watching SHIELD and Arrow, but both on live TV....So I'v gotten Arrow S1 and Shield, we're still halfway through S1...Though, judging by the schedules, they're going to stop broadcasting that as well after S1. Bah.

As pretty much a non-knower of anything about either of the properties (my knowledge of American superheroes is based on the movies, these shows and this forum :p) I have to say it's fun - I'm sure I'm missing quite a bit of lore and background; and with the whole "we don't care about continuity with other shows or movies LOLO0L" of our TV channels...*sigh*. Some twists or reveals are just plain blatantly obvious, some may seem obvious to comic readers but were surprising or are completely out of left field. And some things are just plain boring because they're probably staying true to something written 20 years ago.

Star vs the forces of evil (preview)

Pretty good set-up for the series, my only criticism is how the animation is the opening is better looking than then rest of the show but even then it's noticeable enough for it to look bad.

Grantchester
Post WWII dramedy about a vicar who somehow becomes a detective on the side. And who apparently makes all the ladies in the town of Grantchester go nuts for him. Very well filmed and directed and interesting. Recommend.

They're about to start showing Gotham around here. I know Nick mentioned it a while back and was slightly positive about it, but...Given that my TV time is fairly limited, is it worth following or not?

Gotham is not Smallville. Smallville lasted ten seasons too long.

That's not to say Gotham is by any means GREAT. I'm way behind on it, but of what I did watch, I would still categorize it as a guilty pleasure. The stories are only so-so, the acting is hammy, but the real treat is watching the actor that plays The Penguin in it. He's amazing. He's worth the price of admission.

Honestly, I think I found him the most intolerable character - my issue with the show is that, ridiculous plots aside, basically everyone but (maybe) Gordon is just a caricature. There isn't really a single person who acts, talks, or responds like a halfway-reasonable person would, and the Penguin might be the worst of the bunch. It's really hard to find anything to enjoy when everyone seems to be trying to one-up everyone else in terms of being the most absurd cartoon villain.
