He.. uhh.. has anger issues... like he's in a special school because for instance was hitting his teacher in the stomach while she was pregnant... and he is on a lot of meds. My wife and I have theories on why this is, but I don't feel comfortable posting them here.

I own my own home. I have a decent sound system in my living room. I can play video pinball and listen to Alice In Chains' The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here as loud as I god damn want.

I very seldom have nostalgic feelings about anything, and I'm too young to have really experienced 'arcades', but once, when I was 9 or 10, my friend let me play on the only real pinball machine I've ever used, and it was amazing. I both want to play one again, and also desperately don't, because, what if it isn't as amazing as it was to my 9 year old self?
It's not the same as the real thing, but I recommend Pinball Arcade (it's on every console and PC). The tables in it are all loving recreations of real tables. It's not cheap unfortunately. It's around 40 bucks a season (and each season has 10 tables). Even my girlfriend is into it.[DOUBLEPOST=1422680401,1422680355][/DOUBLEPOST]
Also, the big Cineplex theaters all added pinball machines in their recent arcade shakeup. The one on the north end has a sweet ass AC/DC machine.
The North end is so far to go, though, especially from Mexico, where I will be in <18 hours.
But much closer to Whyte. Maybe I won't leave Mexico, though, and just be a full time beach bum. Or a pirate. Or a pirate king.

I've heard the wizard mode on The Simpsons is absolutely fucking insane. Player have mostly managed to keep it a secret too.
I need to clean up and sell my ancient pinball machine. Only things I know about it are...
- it's old enough to run on nickles
- it has inverted center paddles
- it predates a proper scoreboard
It's probably worth something but it'll probably cost a fortune to fix it up.

And I would LOVE to have a pinball machine down in our bar! I love pinball. I don't even care what kind it was. Mr. Z still needs to fix up the Street Fighter II Champion cabinet he bought years ago (and discovered after he got it home he can't get it down the stairs into our basement...)

I...love...conferences. I'm that dork who takes notes even when there's a handout with all the information on it. It's kind of a lonely feeling being surrounded by fellow professionals when you're not sure about your own career anymore, but it was still really fun. Lots of practical advice to try out. Kind of re-energized me and reminded me of some important things. Also this amazing woman--the keynote speaker--gave me her cell phone number when I told her I was struggling. Not saying she'll convince me to stay, but it's inspiring to be surrounded by people with passion and drive at a time of year when everyone is feeling exhausted.
I learned that I still love to teach. Anybody. I like helping people get where they need to be. If I can focus on that, I know I'll be okay for the rest of the year.

I like conferences. There's always something inspiring. I usually find the poster sessions more informative and inspiring than the oral presentations, though. The posters usually have more information, and they're usually more cutting edge stuff. The orals are spit and polished and a bit sterile to me.
Plus there's always a day with no good presentations during which you can wander whatever nice city it's in.

The Science Fiction and Fantasy Writer's of America (an organization I've longed to join) has just voted to update their bylaws to reflect modern publishing realities.
Under the new rules, I qualify for membership as an "active" member, and will be joining as soon as they go into effect March 1st. The thing I like about the SFWA over the Writers Guild is the SFWA has a private forum for authors where you can actually rub virtual elbows with your peers and heroes in the writing biz. I think that'll be cool.
