[Movies] Talk about the last movie you saw 2: Electric Threadaloo

From what I've heard, Jupiter Ascending is unfortunately an unwatchable mess. People are getting up and leaving the theater during it.
Yet it still has over twice the amount of positive reviews than Seventh Son.

People hated Speed Racer too. I really enjoyed it for some reason.

On the one hand, "like a girl" is insulting. On the other hand, there's the crowd that's taken it too far. Love it or hate it, biological males are on average stronger and faster than biological females. There's no insult in that, it just is.

On average, males having a higher muscle-to-fat ratio and being taller, sure. That automatically translating into them having better accuracy or natural athleticism, untrue. Also, males are more encouraged to take up sports or likely to receive proper instruction. I speak from the experience of being on a lot of co-ed teams in my lifetime. (Or they we co-ed because I was on them.)

To be clear, I never said anything but stronger and faster--nothing about accuracy (and I don't quite know how to interpret natural athleticism). For the same amount of training, on average. Whether stronger and faster translates to better at a particular sport is a question that has nothing to do with sex.

EDIT: Like I said, I in no way condone the "like a girl" mentality. It's stupid. I'm just saying I don't like the far distant extreme either, because it wants to pretend just as much that real things don't exist.

I don't think you are condoning it. But in the context of the "insult", which questions their athleticism, the stronger or possibly faster is less important. If it were football, I'd concede this is a valid observation, but in reference to baseball, while strength and some speed can help, it's not as vital as accuracy or coordination.

I agree. I wasn't really talking about baseball. The gif just made me think of the opposite extreme.

So, I saw Jupiter Ascending last night in a packed theater, apparently the only one.

It was terrible. Just....fucking terrible. And DUUUUUUMB. It almost quite literally repeated itself. Heroine in bad situation, Channing Tatum to the rescue in big action set piece. Wait two minutes, heroine in bad situation, Channing Tatum to the rescue in big action set piece.

It also had dragon people, cool space ships and one of the best aerial action sequences I've ever seen in a movie.

It was stupid, terrible, and...uh, pretty fun to watch.

I had high hopes for this, too. Now I don't even want to see it after hearing all the bad reviews. :(

Uh... quadratic... quadratic... that's... uh... quad means four, right? And... dratic... that means... underwater? You want me to give you four fish?
No, no bhamv3, he's thanking you for the fish. GB is leaving planet, and hopes to show his appreciation!

I doubt Dinofrio will be have that same dominating physical presence.
He absolutely could. Physically, the man could be John Goodman Lite, and his ability to fully portray a given role is only a couple levels below that of Gary Oldman. If he doesn't do the role justice, it won't be his fault.
