[TV] Talk about the last TV you watched, the catchall thread

I watched Texas Rising last night, well watched it between blackouts and torrential rain blocking the satellite. Man, will "Hollywood" ever get a damned thing about history right? I'd settle for a little correct Geography. While Texas was once part of Mexico, Central and East Texas does not look like the Chihuahuan Desert.

Good Points: Deaf (Deef) Smith is part of this story. He is normally left out, he was one of the true heroes of San Jacinto.
Seguin is protrayed as a man from a rich, and noble family. Not some crazy Indian as he was in the last Alamo movie.

Bad Points: Emily West
was turned into a Basin Street Whore, not and indentured servant captured by the Mexican Army.

I watch a little and just couldn't stand the dust clouds in every scene.... We have freaking trees and grass and bushes and all that green stuff here. Hell, in East Texas you can't see a "true" sunset because of all the trees, it's like living on the eastern side of a mountain range, twilight/dusk lasts a very long time.

GRAH- curse you Hulu Plus, giving me everything BUT the last two seasons of Ben 10 Omniverse! Fleh, I'll just wait I guess. ALSO-
-clever move having the voice-change and design changes of Azmuth be because of celestial sapiens that...that joke needed to happen.

I watched a chunk of a Memorial Day Quantum Leap marathon. Unlike some of my other favorite 80s and 90s show, this one actually holds up well. There are some signs of the time that are cringe-worthy, to be sure. But overall, it's still not bad.

In contrast, the same channel (Cozi, OTA) has Knight Rider on. Which was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid. Geez, let's keep that one in my memory where it's still good. I cannot see what I loved about this show anymore. And apparently the costumer(s) thought bad guys all came from a 70s comic book with their checkered tweed blazers.

Regular Show season one Deathcount: Approximately 86 deaths. The majority of which from "Meat Your Maker", where at least 75 hot dogs ate themselves into oblivion. Good thing there's no blood, otherwise it'd be considered violent!

Damn it, I have to get back into that show. I stopped after somewhere in the first season as it was a bit weird even for me. Maybe now's a good time to check it out again

Go for it, from the specials to the season finales/openers it keeps getting better.

I also recommend the proto-pilot: "2 in the AM PM"

Yeah, though Jr. sort of just appeared before the spin-off, too. He used to be a tiny, hyperactive kid but then suddenly he's this insanely obese, dumb nerd.
I think it was vaguely explained that the medication that kept his hyperactivity under control not only reduced his activity (which would cause him to gain weight) but also directly caused weight gain (which some medications can do). Combine that with a change of environment and a family tendency towards obesity...

Yeah I finished the series yesterday and apparently that's basically what happened.

All in all it wasn't bad, but I can see why it didn't last too long.

I've been binge watching Brooklyn 99.

Dear God, I don't want to be mean, but Sandra Bernhard looks like a sun-dried tomato. I hated her schtick back when she was a comedian, but now I feel only pity.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

This was a good class to have in the hall.

But, what the fuck is Miley Cyrus doing on stage, screeching over everyone's vocals?

Too bad about Miley mucking it all up eventually, but man Jett can still rock. Cherry Bomb was fantastic (I am an admitted Grohl fanboy, but the man can backup a band with the best of them).

I don't know if anyone else here would be interested, but now that I have HBO Now, I watched the entirety of Looking. Honestly, I kind of hated the first few episodes, but I really enjoyed it as it progressed. Unfortunately, it will not be renewed for a third season, just a final special to serve as the series finale.

I really liked that it showed a much more diverse gay community than most other gay shows. Danny Franzese from Mean Girls (the "You go Glen Coco!" guy) joined the show in the second season and I loved that they had him presented as just as sexy as the other men in the show.

Also, Scott Bakkula is in it.

That show's been on my queue to catch up on for a bit. I've loved Jonathan Groff in everything I've ever seen him in, and heard good things in general.

Community...wow...
I actually feel more closure with this ending than season 3 could have given. Weird.
Yeah ... that was not what I expected.

I hope it's not actually the end, though. The constant restarts were hilarious until they became really sad, but I lost it when Jeff had the "Kill 50 Abeds" season 7.

Me as well, here's hoping for the movie! And mine was the one with all the side characters(and Seth Green) becoming the new group with Jeff while mentioning how they'll end up leaving him while he'll stay in Greendale. And "Community the board game" was a great ending meta-joke.

Community finale

That was so sad to watch, but there was a lot I loved in there. I think the Season 3 finale hit me harder, though. Probably because it was so uncertain if they were coming back, and it was such a perfect ending. I liked this season a lot more than I thought I was going to, and I'm so glad we got 6 seasons so far. I hope they come back, even if it's a Yahoo-streamed movie (and bring back Troy and Shirley one more time!)

Meanwhile, things that made me laugh: pretty much anything they did to the Dean in their "seasons", although Dean saying Abed's brain is "fucked up" surprised me. (Ah, the internet...) And did it feel like Gasbandit wrote Jeff's private season 7?

Needed a few more redheads.

One day I'll get to watch the rest of Community. For some reason Popcorn Time never loaded episoes 7-12 of this season. It just goes from 6 right to 13.

I just watched the whole season off Yahoo. Their app supports chromecast so it worked pretty well.
Yahoo screen doesn't work in Canada. Dan harmon himself has said canadians should pirate it. Even using a vpn, yahoo is plagued wih playback issues. I watched the first two episodes of community via vpn, and it took me about two hours to watch each episode because of all the times I had to restart to combat audio sync issues, not to mention the times yahoo randomly stopped and took me back to the home page.

Ah. Good ol' copyright law, screwing everything up again.

At first the video was crap, but the audio was fine.

Then around mid-season, the video played without stuttering, but the audio got quieter and quieter until we had to put on the captions.

I can't wait for the season 6 DVD, because I feel like I missed a lot of what has been a great season.

In the meantime, I have watching the Crap out of Bob's Burgers. I only have five episodes left.

Both of you message me your e-mail addresses. I know a place that can hook you up.
