Also, I would like to use "gastronomical" to refer to ridiculously out there libertarianism
I just just imagine myself using "Batman and Robin" level bad puns like this. What a Gastastrophe.[DOUBLEPOST=1433798513,1433798462][/DOUBLEPOST]
Purely in the interest of science, which flavour of dead rat is the least olfactorily offensive?
They're actually all pretty awful. At least nobody went for the black cherries candle.

Seriously. $1000 watch for a burger and beer?
Well, it is the future, maybe Rolexes are the Timex of San Angeles.

Except, well, the ratburger vendor did seem delighted to receive it as payment.

Another vacation whine...

I wanted to try Joe & Pat's on Staten Island for their vodka slice pizza. Although the ferry is free and the Staten Island Railroad takes the unlimited MetroCard, it doesn't go anywhere near that part of the island. I was wanting to avoid buses if I could.

So I see that getting on and off the island wasn't all that far removed from my route to the hotel. Yay, right? Nope. Bridge toll onto Staten Island is $14. Free to get back into NJ. (I've always noticed that. You only have to pay to get OUT of NJ.) So much for that.

This is because so many people commute from NJ into NY for work, so they get to take advantage of NY services but don't have to pay taxes for them ether. So they nail them with a big toll on the way in to make sure they get their fair share to keep the city going.

Yes, except if you work in NY, you still get taxed for it, even if you don't live there. I don't miss the double taxing.[DOUBLEPOST=1433853760,1433853635][/DOUBLEPOST]

The Verrazano Toll suuuuuuuuucks. Where we live, it would be a ridiculously short way to get into the city, except a)the cost and b) Staten Island, that end of the BQE and the Belt are usually parking lots. It's a trifecta of suck.

Been sick since late Sunday evening, was really hoping that it would run its course overnight Sunday night, but it didn't. Thought I'd recovered yesterday, but I hadn't. I really hate missing work, it makes it damn near impossible to get things done. Also, food poisoning really sucks.

Good lord. I've been on the executive of an organization since Feb. and we have monthly meetings. Usually by teleconference, and it works quite well. They uaully run from 10:30a-noon(ish). Today is in person (which I didn't go to in person, because it's a 6 hour drive, and just, no), so I called in along with half a dozen other peeps. No issues.
But.
It's now 2:30p, and there is no sign of an end. As in there's probably at least another hour. Oy Vey. So much for getting any work done today.

Yeesh.

On the plus side, I'm caught up on all my web comics reading.

I just had myself a healthy 200 calorie snack of carrots, celery and broccoli.

I think I'm hungrier than before I ate it.

If I'm gonna have vegetables for fora snack, I need to include a little almond butter or hummus or else I feel the same way.

Nu nu nu nu

I'll just check my regular internet sites and oh it looks like reddit has gone insane, whelp Go Blackhawks I guess...

From what I understand, protein's probably a better "fill you up" than just carrots and celery. Have some sliced turkey, like in those Buddig Snackers, with them. Or dry roasted peanuts.

Good: Went out for a four-mile bike ride - basically, up to the library and back. Took it easy, no real issues, got a good workout from it.

Bad: Came home, pulled up by the mailbox of our apartment complex to get the mail. Neighbor in the opposite-corner apartment in the same building had her kids out playing. I try to avoid them - and my bike doesn't want to stay upright. I tumble off, but manage to not be immediately hurt - save for some road rash. My bike's got a divot stuck to the one pedal. I wash up, get some bactarin spray and bandage the (rather long) scrape.

Ugly: I don't start to feel the aches and pains until about two hours after the incident. I'm not in "call the ####ing PARAMEDICS" pain, but it is DEFINITELY going to be a Tramadol/Cyclobenzaprine night. (I already called in for work, sue me.)
