Whine like a baby, now with 500% more drama!

Here at our translation company, we mainly use two different translation software suites.

Software A is older, has fewer features (though the most important core features are all there), and is gradually being phased out as an industry standard. Its interface is cleaner and less cluttered due to having fewer features, and it runs faster and more efficiently on slower machines.

Software B is newer, boasts all the newest bells and whistles, but runs much slower on my work computer, and its interface is much less user friendly.

My company recently announced we'll be abandoning Software A altogether, because it's older and not widely used in the industry any more. And that sucks, because Software A is the more user-friendly of the two, and when I try to open Software B I end up waiting so long it's become customary to make myself a cup of tea.

Look on the brightside. More tea!

I love the VA and all the wonderful things they do for those that served. It's such a fantastic thing to see so many that put the needs of veterans in the US as a top priority, and work hard each and every day to help them in any way possible.

"Fascinating, Captain. There is an extremely high level of sarcasm in this post."

I had to take a moment and notice who posted this. Because I was like "Where are you? and Can we steal your VA workers?" Total agreement with the statement.

The VA is exactly why the U.S. government has no business running health care. My dad has to drive over an hour to get to his VA doc, and then they make a 69 year war hero jump through hoops and endless bureaucratic redtape to get the care he needs. The government is still shitting on the Vietnam vets.

Our first college football broadcast is tomorrow. A double header at 1:30 followed by yet a third game at 9:30. Even money it's going to be an on-air trainwreck. I just hope it doesn't mess up so bad that I end up having to miss out on the Don't Starve session.

It's not just healthcare. I didn't get my housing allowance payment this month basically because we were told to turn in his DD214 (retirement paper) to the GI Bill processing people under his name instead of mine.
Add that to the military's shenanigans which caused Aussie to not get his retirement pay this month. We have 0 income for the month. It's swell.

While sitting in Starbucks browsing the internet and trying to think of what to write for my next story I've come to the realization that I don't actually have friends.
Yes, I have a numerous amount of Facebook friends that I chat with, and I have my mom friends for playdates with our kids, but...I don't actually have a lot of friends that I talk to. And the ones do talk to we're not close.
So when I have moments to myself when Nick isn't around (and I'm able to go out) I have no idea what to do. I have no idea how to make friends, or ask the very few friends that I have, to go out. I'm incredibly shy at first and my anxiety takes a toll on me.
I've been so long without friends that I convinced myself I'm okay with it, and turns out I'm actually not.
How can I make friends? Because while I like having time to myself, the lonliness is sometimes almost too much

The last person I talked to for more than a few seconds at all that wasn't either a coworker, customer (them or me), or family was Dave... in June. Can't recall the last face to face encounter like that.

Augh gawd... my board-op rode his bike to work today. AT NOON IN AUGUST IN TEXAS. He's drenched in sweat and the broadcast studio smells like a garbage fire. I've retreated to my office to get away.

What? It's 90 here, I just let a herd of 9 year old girls loose in a water park.
Yeah, it's still summer. Water park sound nice. Colorado low humidity sounds nice too, we're at 75% humidity and 95 degree heat. Not as punishing as it was earlier, but I still wouldn't want to bike to work in it.

That's nasty!
This guy has some serious hygiene issues which I think I've whined about before. But he's the only guy willing to take on a 13 hour shift with almost no warning. We only found out yesterday that there weren't enough relays to automate the game broadcast as we'd planned.

VA court is a fun fucking place. They make vets who can barely walk and breathe on their own then drag themselves to court to have to explain 1. what happened to them, and 2. why the U.S. government should be paying for it. And then wait for the appeal, either because the judge ruled against them, or because the judge ruled in the vet's favor and the government appeals so they can try every last effort to weasel out of taking care of veterans. It's disgusting.

For the last 3-4days, we keep losing internet at work for hours at a time. This makes it difficult to do my job and is very frustrating.

"Oh for fuck's sake another bullshit feedback case from a dumbass client? Fuck you, client, stop wasting my time, just accept that we are awesome and that you have no fucking clue what you're talking about and that....... oh wait, this one was actually a screwup by me. Whoops. M'bad."

So yeah, I messed up today and I think I cost us a client.

"You’re gone now
I’m strong now
Strong enough to carry on despite it all.
And I wish that I could be like my father
He always knew what was right."

Fuck insomnia in the face, I now have to go run at least two miles with my daughter at her running club to keep her from being a slacker on three hours of sleep.

I also didn't sleep much last night. Thankfully I only have to go in to the office for a few hours this afternoon. &^%$#@!! medication!!!!

Oh wow, I cannot brain right now. Thank god my daughter's school is close by, because I am pretty sure I am a driving hazard right now. (In before of course you are you're a woman.)

I had a night like that once, trying to get to work after a night with zero sleep. I'm lucky I didn't get myself or any other driver hurt.
