Terrik's AMA: Why aren't you studying?

Give me a year and a half, and when I start dissecting a real one, I will let you know.

Speaking of feet, duck feet are incredibly edible.

I've been told that Halal Chinese food is pretty great. Can you confirm? If so, why?

You're a bit older and world-wise when compared to your fellow students. Do you feel like they're all vapid bores that complain too much?[DOUBLEPOST=1444248892,1444248842][/DOUBLEPOST]Looks like ochem I to me. Sorry bro.

Well, he has been texting with me for the last two hours while pretending to study. I think his brain is fried. :p

You can text me while at work whenever you want, I don't want you to feel left out. [emoji14]

Halal food in China mainly comes from two groups: the ethnic Turkish Uyghurs and the Hui muslim minority Chinese. I ate extensively at the latter's restaurants.

First, anything they made beef/chicken/(and especially) lamb is friggin fantastic. You want good Shaokao (chinese BBQ sticks), go find a Hui stand. They also make excellent noodles of all varieties and I ate their dumplings by the dozen.

Also, they're dirt cheap. 24 dumplings runs a little over $1 and bowls noodles less than that. Jun and I could eat for 2 for about 3-4 bucks. It's also one of the very few places in China where you can't buy alcohol (or drink it). Every restaurant has a very clearly marked sign forbidding it.

Also La Mian. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamian

So good.

As far as my fellow classmates---well, it's...been an experience. For the most part, I like my 19-20 year old classmates. But yes, they obviously lack experience, generally more immature and don't often take study as seriously as they should. That being said, I've found a great group of people to study with.

BUT---it's awkard. I've been invited by some of them to go out water skiing and I have to find an excuse. I just feel it would be too awkward to be chumming around students that were about the age I use to teach in China.

The best though is the science lab TA's who moan about the underclassmen and how old they themselves are (at 26 years of age).

I think I already made the reference that while playing L4D, we are like divorced parents who fight over who has to take the kid.

Terrik, don't be like me. I just got an email from a professor telling me I have until tonight to turn in a paper for any amount of credit. I thought I had until December to write it. I haven't even researched the topic.

Do your homework.
