Whine like a baby, now with 500% more drama!

@Gruebeard the first line of Neuromancer is “The sky above the port was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel.” In hindsight I should have been more specific.

Cumin? I mistake my cinnamon and cumin spices pretty often, and cumin has a distinct meaty flavor, usually used in curry or taco seasoning.

The mouse4 thumb button just gave out on my logitech G700. They don't make it any more, it'd be $120 new to replace :( All these new mouses look stupid and angular and sharp and full of gaps!

Holy crap one of my professors emailed the class today saying in lieu of a final we're going to have to write a paper. Make up a scenario we might encounter in social work practice. Research the ethical, legal, and moral implications involved in decision making for this case. Ten pages. It's due next Friday!

Jibbers Crabst in a bowl of chowder!! I have no time!

Aussie had a logitech that was a laser gaming mouse, maybe the G7. He was so upset when it died, partially because it was a nice mouse and partially because it was one of the first gifts I gave him. It got replaced with an M705 which he really likes.

have the same mouse and an ancient m500 keyboard you cant get anymore. i need new both soon.

M y weekend just started. I had intended to go to Pittsburgh to take my stereo receiver in for service and to shop for prog. But not in this rain and crap visibility.

Presentation for 20% of a grade today, my laptop dies at 5:30 am. Sounds like a friend's got me covered for today, but I hope I can get it working again - I definitely can't afford to buy a new one.

Ugh.

I use a Dell mouse I got for free from the storeroom at my old job.
No wonder you don't think PC gaming is all it's cracked up to be.

The g700 was what I got to replace my G7 when IT died! I'd still rather have the G7, but the G700 was a close second.
I still say the Logitech MX518 was the best mouse ever made.
It's DPI was low and it wasn't cordless. The nice thing about the G700 is, if its battery ran low, you could plug in its cable at the top and keep going as if it was a corded mouse (it even uses the cable for data in that mode), or even hotswap out the single AA battery it used for power.

Anyway, my favorite mouse is still the ol' heavy-as-hell Logitech MX1000 cordless laser mouse. I went through two of those. Wore out the buttons on them, too (but it was M1 and M2, not M4 then)

Oh, also today is the first day of our annual toy drive. Crossing my fingers nothing goes tits up, because then it'll be on me to fix it.

I asked a client to give me her teamviewer id for remote access. She gave me her national id number and the password of her computer.

I gave up on it. Wish I knew who brought it in.

The objective of a mouse is to point and click, right? My freebie works fine. If I have to map a bunch of other buttons, I'll spend more time finger training than enjoying the game.

Also, I like PC gaming. I just don't understand the elitism.

Wow. Just wow. This made me sad. The mouse is half the equation, it's "keyboard and mouse." And really, more buttons on the mouse makes things easier, because that's less you have to move your other hand on the keyboard to get to more functions, which can be critical if you're using WASD for movement, and spacebar to jump. I'm assuming your dell freebie has M1, M2, and a mouseroller M3 at least. In a typical game that will get you primary fire, alt fire, zoom and switch weapons. My G700 has four thumb buttons (M4-M7) which are configurable, and easy to get use to using by tactile sense. Generally I use M4 for VOIP Push-to-talk, M5 doubles as M3 so I don't have to take my index finger off M1 or my middle finger off M2 to awkwardly click the mouseroller (and anybody who uses their ring finger to click M2 so their middle finger can rest on the roller is a goddamned wierdo). M6 and M7 I can make do whatever I want... if I'm playing an MMO, I can have them trigger spells or attacks I use consistently so that I don't have to relocate my keyboard hand to reach across to the "7" or whatever. Basically, it lets me move more functions to my right hand so that my left hand doesn't have to stop moving/dodging/sprinting to perform other game functions, or open voice chat.

If I have to map a bunch of other buttons, I'll spend more time finger training than enjoying the game.
Then are you still playing with a 2 button NES controller? I mean, because obviously finger training is just TOO onerous.

Well, I mean, it's simple. If 2 buttons are better than 1, than 7 is surely better than 2. The "finger training" argument is especially irrelevant, given how console controllers these days now have a D-Pad, 2 sticks that also act as buttons, 4 normal buttons and 4 shoulder buttons.[DOUBLEPOST=1448996530,1448996518][/DOUBLEPOST]
Huh. I use my phone as a controller until it's at about 1%.
You're a goddamned monster.

I'm still waiting and hoping for a decent bridge between controller and mouse/keyboard. Almost bought the Steam one, but I think I'll wait for their next iteration, seeing what people I trust have said about it.

Wait, so let me get this right... something is "irrelevant" because you say it is? Your argument is personal, and does not apply to me. It's not compelling in the least to me. It's a classic begging of the question to compare to a console controller, because you've assumed I don't have the same argument about the controller and/or that I find a console controller superior in any way. That aside, my hands know what to do on a controller from years of using one. My fingers know how to use two mouse buttons (GASP, I don't even use the middle button/roller, because I find the corresponding key on the keyboard much faster) from years of using one all day at work. This is what I mean by this being a personal argument. I don't like it, you do.

You just can't beat a mouse for precision analog control. Joysticks can't come close. Touchpads won't do it, and really that's what the steam controller was - dual touchpads. My ideal setup would probably be a 7 button mouse coupled with a nostromo speedpad in my left hand, which hopefully eliminates the need for the big clunky keyboard.

But I have a hard time bringing myself to drop 150 bucks on a keyboard, much less a niche peripheral.

I personally have not played enough pc games until recently to worry about more buttons. I do use my middle finger for scrolling exclusively and my ring finger for right clicking. I find a controller easier for some games but my years of X-Wing and TIE Fighter have trained my left hand to find most keys fairly easily.

Dammit. I forgot to charge my tablet last night and now my battery's down to 5% so I gotta leave you guys for the day.

Have fun y'all.
