[Movies] The DC Cinematic Universe - The David Zazlav Dumpster Fire.

So why does Batman show emotion? Maybe that will be explained later, like he's setting a trap or something.

And why does all the make up around his eyes disappear?

Superman grimacing like that crosses over from menacing to ridiculous, and Batman wearing a duster over his costume is just silly. And I still don't get the Superman Nazi Troopers.

Seriously, who the fuck is this movie for?

Full trailer.

I feel like even the trailer suffers from superhero bloat and a lack of focus. I'm gonna be honest, folks, I'm not feeling very optimistic about this movie.

Also, this version of Lex may give Suicide Squad Joker some competition for "worst characterization of a DC villain ever".

Well, I don't need to see the movie now. Trailer pretty much showed it all.

This looks really awesome. I want to see this Jesse Eisenberg performance to the bitter end.
You've really decided to double down on the ignoring-everything-Trolling-all-the-way today, huh? Good for you , no compromises, no retreat!

Anyway, it's a shame this is where Wonder Woman comes in; yet again people'll say female heroes don't work instead of looking at the myriad other problems this movie clearly has, from trailers alone.

I feel like the trailer was originally just meant to be Batman and Superman talking and fighting. And then for some reason the higher-uppers decided, "No, we must show everything in the trailer! Tack on Zombie Zod! Tack on Wonder Woman!" And then we ended up with a trailer that's twice as long as it needed to be, and half as coherent as it should have been.

Doomsday's CGI looks fresh from 2009. Almost every line of dialogue was a groaner, and Lex Luthor... just... you know who would have made a better Lex Luthor? FUCKING ANYONE.

Also, between the neck-snapping, aerial bombardment, and the assault shotgun he's carrying at the end there, I'm guessing Battfleck isn't much about the "no killing".

I actually think Jesse Eisenberg has the chops to play a great Luthor, and I was initially excited to him his casting, thinking we'd get to see another side of him. But that was also contingent on a good script and directing, and from what the trailers have shown... yeah.

That's what really pisses me off. I've been wanting a Wonder Woman movie and we're finally going to get it, but it's going to be this DC universe under Zack Snyder, so it's likely going to suck.[DOUBLEPOST=1449142430,1449141939][/DOUBLEPOST]Okay, so now I'm watching the trailer and, in the context of this fiction, Luthor being excited about Clark Kent meeting Bruce Wayne makes no sense because Clark Kent is a nobody. If he wasn't a nobody, his whole disguise fails.

Eisenberg is ... I don't know what he's doing. Trying to go the Nicholson's Joker route, I imagine. For all we know, he's going to be to this movie what Kevin Spacey was for Superman Returns--the only part this isn't misery. When you have a movie trying to be this edgy and grimdark, the goofy villain angle could be a positive because at least someone is having a good time.

Kind of surprised they're bringing Doomsday in. Guess that means they aren't planning to do Death and Return, so that's a plus. I'm guessing we've seen up to the 2/3rds point in the movie? Hard to tell since this is just part 1. Might not get the rest of the Justice League cameos until part 2.

My stance was already that I wasn't seeing this and this trailer did nothing to change that. But at least now I know what I'll be seeing in front of movies for the next few months.

What in the world does this Lex have to do with the book Lex? Not only is this a terrible characterization, on a technical level it's high school drama club level acting to boot. If this was a B movie, maybe you could get away with that.

On top of that, we've got the total 90s package going on: blue night filters, steadicam where steadicam adds nothing to the storytelling, pointless jib shots. I feel like Schwartzenegger is going to pop out and tell me it's ice to see me.

About 90% of that trailer had me feeling "ehh.", and then the end came. And I remembered the only reason why I care about this movie.

...and then I remembered "Zack Snyder" and went back to "ehh." again. :(

Everyone here seems so obsessed with hating DC movies and saying the same thing every time anything comes out about them. It's so weird to me. I'm not calling this the best movie ever or even coherent since.. hey, I have no clue, I haven't seen it or read anything written by someone that has seen it.

Also please stop crying about this ruining all women heroes' chances, this movie is going to be HUGELY successful. Like, 750 million easily, possibly a billion. It's BATMAN AND SUPERMAN.

also complaining about trailers showing everything in 2015 sounds tone deaf considering every trailer for any movie with a $100m budget goes through act 2 at least, every time. Including all your Marvel movies that are perfect and beautiful storytelling angels

This movie needs to bomb to kill this franchise so someone will get fired and they can start again from scratch. What a pity. Just go make more cartoon films. Most of those are fairly good.

Okay, let's be objective about it. For me, it's not a marvel vs. DC thing. It's a this movie thing. If I were to compare the trailer for this movie to the Captain America 3 movie, for instance, there's no question--even if I didn't know the characters. The Superman v. Batman trailer is full of actors stretching for edginess, who have no likability or personality at all. Even if I somehow didn't know at least a little about a comic book character who has been around 90 years, Luthor in that trailer is silly and campy, and it's at stark odds with everything else going on. And then everything is just over the top in a teen drama way, not in a comic way. By contrast, the Cap 3 trailer is clearly character driven, the characters can be identified with because they feel human (Wayne and Kent feel like cardboard standups). I feel Rogers's stress from the trailer alone. I feel his empathy and the loss of camaraderie. The fight hurts just on the basis of what's established in the trailer alone. The fact that they're Iron Man and Captain America comes second. It did in most of the MCU movies, which is why people liked them.

It's why people love comics, too, if I want to bring it back in. People don't read Wolverine to see him stab things with fist claws. They read him to see how this affected his life. How his loss of self means so much to him. How the fact that his own body is designed to kill, yet he wants to be a good guy.

I liked Man of Steel. I've come to terms with the fact that this makes me literally Hitler.
I liked it too, actually, despite the neck-snapping destruction. I think Michael Shannon was fantastic in it. However, based on these trailers, I am ready for this film team to disband. Eisenberg seems like an odd choice, but I suppose Gene Hackman isn't exactly the comic Luthor either.

I'd rather see a Batman vs Supes after an established Justice League, but I get the cliched pair-up after a big bad guy shows up. Heck it might be just as good as MoS. It's still better than Brian Singer's mess.

It will have to wait for DVD no matter what. I will see it just like I'll watch Suicide Squad b/c they're comic movies. :minionhappy:
