Whine like a baby, now with 500% more drama!

I find the celebration of the New Year tedious and boring. I don't get jazzed at all. I don't excited by any holiday anymore. I like Thanksgiving still because of the food. Is this full-on adulthood stuff or am I a super stick in the mud?

Wait...what? I have to...work today? Like, wake up early, go somewhere for hours and do a job? That doesn't sound like something I'd agree to do, you must be mistaken.

This is the first time in two weeks I haven't worn Muppet pajama pants. Frankly, I don't like it. No sir, don't like it a bit.

Oh fuck. Everybody's getting sick. Underling number 2 is out, and underline number one is coughing and sniffling like crazy.

Ordinarily I would say something like "Sure glad I got my flu shot," but they both did too...

The pain clinic won't call me back. I have called many times and left many messages. I get that it's going to be a super long wait but my doctor wants me to find out how long. So...just call me already.

Ok job application, I get that you want people to contact, but when I'm trying to apply to jobs without my current company finding out, that becomes difficult. I don't have a massive work history.

I am having a hell of a time motivating myself to go to work today. I could have left 15 minutes ago and been early, or I could leave within the next 30 minutes and still be on time, but I'm not even entirely certain that I'm not going to just crawl back into bed or play Endless Legend all day. There is almost literally nothing that I can do today. All of the things I could order have been placed on order with our vendors, but until upper management writes some checks to them, they either won't deliver the items, or won't forward the orders to the manufacturers. Instead, I'm sitting at my computer drinking a cup of coffee - because we can't even afford to pay our fucking coffee service at work, so we've been out of creamer, sweetener, and sugar for the past month, and we're down to the crappiest coffee we could buy at the grocery store. All I can do all day, every day at work is tell my vendors that I can't get them paid and tell my customers (the manufacturing part of our business) that I can't get them any material, and my installers that I can't get them tools and install materials. I think I may take advantage of the nasty little 24 hour virus that went through the office last week.

Family or not, maybe this is a sign that you should just cut your losses while the situation is still yours to control.

Because really, fuck those guys.

Believe me, I am whole-heartedly searching for new employment. In fact, that's what I'll probably spend most of today doing, because really, fuck these guys. They're completely adamant that the company isn't going to close, or go bankrupt, or anything negative, but at this point it's really not up to them. Our printers are about to be repossessed, for fuck's sake.

Of course that's what they're saying. They don't want mass resignations. Better to be the first one out so you're not competing for positions against your coworkers. I watched that happen here years ago and it was ugly.

You should get on the phone right now. As in right this minute. Call them up and tell them, "This is Gared. I quit. <click>" And never go back. You're not doing your health any favors by sticking around this sinking ship.

Well, Underling #2 has returned, but Underling #1 is getting worse. She barely has a voice at all now. I'm worried I'll get sick, and both of us will end up being out. Underling #2 is too new (and part time), she doesn't know how to do the stuff I and #1 do. This could be really bad.

Please, you could be dying in the floor and you still wouldn't be allowed to be out of work. But it's still shitty all the same. :(

Make sure you're covered by a doctor slip that you're contagious and really can't work, watch it all crash and burn, make clear you're irreplaceable, demand raise and/or full time assistant. Or put all the channels you manage on 24-hour automated DJ with a track list consisting of only polka's from the '50s.

And now the Country PD is getting sick with chills and stomach trouble.

Did I ever mention that my office is next door to the Underlings on one side, and the Country PD on the other?

I'm surrounded by pathogens.

If you don't hear from me again, know that with my final breath, I blamed Terrik.

New solenoid needed for my car's transmission, plus a couple drive belts. All told, $629. More than I was expecting, but it could have been worse I suppose.

Well, that seals it, you're gonna get sick. You know why? Because as everyone knows, when someone gets chills... they're multiplyin'.

It's Jun's birthday today!
