They nerfed exp gain by 90% (post-lvl70) because so many people were running away with it.
Season started Fri but since Kati's not feeling well, I've had to be such a Dad these last few days.
Got to play for more than 30min this morning and I'm now finally right about where I wanted to be by Fri night (lvl50).
I tellya, I'm gonna wish that exp thing didn't get nerfed reeeeeal quick.

Also many/most of these Barbarians are taking advantage of an acknowledged bug in Furious Charge that allows you to do the move quicker than you would otherwise be able to. It was only natural to assume that people will lean on this for all it's worth until the season ends and it is taken away.

And I got one of those set pieces for Furious Charge. Now I get another and I can take advantage of that bug.

I'm finally into Chapter 4. Now it's just yellow rifts until I get better gear (or more Death's Breaths to make my own).

Yeah, this is the season where I'm finally going to solo level 20 GRift. I've never been able to do it before. On any character. I don't think I'm very good at getting my rotations or gear balanced right.

Got it and with lots of time to spare. I did some reconfiguring and set my Frenzy up with about 120% extra damage and then I used the cube to get an effect that lets it stack 10 times instead of five. I went from barely being able to hold my own to absolutely demolishing Torment III and speedy through Torment IV. So it looks like I'll be Torment V or VI very soon, which is new for me.

Just dinged 70 on my demon hunter. Got the free 2 pieces of the shadows set. Went and killed Kulle on T2 for the other two pieces. Now I just need to do a grift 20... can I do it?

I head in with my one rift keystone, AND BEAT IT! ... six seconds too late. No mail with the rest of my set. Goddamnit.

I practiced on Yellow T4 for a while until I was sure I could do it.
Plus I got a lot of nifty toys which helped ensure I could do it when I tried.
The set dungeon, though. I still haven't managed to get better than Basic, and even that took two tries.
Trust me, Poe...you want to get that set completed. I'm using a completely meh sword (middling stats, not ancient, but it does certainly make shuriken cloud more useful) and I'm one-shotting the GR21 rift guardian with the bonus to impale skill.

The 600% buff doesn't seem to show on your basic damage sheet. Equipping a sword (a rather crappy one, because I'm a demon hunter and the loot system mostly gives me bows) makes my sheet damage drop significantly. But just preliminary testing in looking at the damage numbers when I attack show that I do a hell of a lot more damage with a sword equipped than with my bow.

It won't. Most of the legendary bonus-type stuff doesn't because it gets added to some kind of, "...and after the damage gets calculated, tack this stuff on, too" category, especially "conditional" damage like this one (IF weapon_class.melee = 1 THEN).
Keep an eye out for a good Devil Tongue, those seem to have a higher damage roll than usual for swords. Or you can look for a Doombringer or Azurewrath, or craft a Devastator to boost physical, cold, or fire damage, respectively.
Personally, I want to see what would happen if I get a decent Rimeheart and focus on cold damage. I haven't really looked through the other 1H weapons to see what else might be good, but since I have something like 65% damage reduction (that's in addition to armor/resist) and 102000 life per hit, The Barber is looking mighty tempting.

If you're that close, you can for sure get it. I'm always happy to farm rift keys if I'm on and not grouped :)

I'm finding that experience is going way faster this season.

I played with my skills a little, ran some more Torment 4 rifts for more keys, and gave it another try. Managed to end the rift guardian with just a few seconds to spare. I was easily able to clear through groups, but the rift guardian was so tanky that it took awhile, but he finally went down.

Bingo bango got my set! To test it out, I tried running the exact same level 20 grift again.

I killed the rift guardian in two hits :eek:

I can do Torment V fairly easy but am still too squishy to take on T-6. Not sure what I need to do. I do decent enough damage (although Lut Socks would help a LOT) but I can't take as much damage as I feel I should.

Nah. There's a whole class of melee weapons that drop for DH and Wiz now. You farm some multi-player bounties, you'll collect some nifty stuff AND the materials needed to turn yellows into legendaries. Something will show up.
Otherwise just team up with me and we'll swap gear as we find it (since we're both playing DH so far). Just hit me up when you see me in-game and we'll go blast some stuff.

My new wish list includes:

  • Lut Socks. I mean, come on! I've been looking for these things forever!
  • Ring of Royal Grandeur. I have a pair of pants I want to equip, but I can't until I free up the slot.
  • Better Barb weapon. Right now the one I have is a 2-hander made for a Crusader. @PatrThom says I need either The Grandfather or Faithful Memory.
  • MONEY!! I need to get into the Vault but so far nothing.
I'm only 2 steps away from completing my season journey and that would be a real milestone for me.

If you're running 6-piece Might of the Earth and Lut Socks, you almost certainly want your weapon to be a Blade of the Tribes. Keep an eye out for a Band of Might, too; it'll go a long way towards fixing your issues staying alive.

I only say those two because they are solid 2H weapons that are not class-specific. Faithful Memory is just a generic, solid 2H sword which always rolls with thorns damage (if you're into that), and The Grandfather is one of the few items in game that roll with 5xPrimary stats.
There are other weapons you should probably be looking for, but they're going to be build-dependent. Blade of the Tribes gives you "free" Earthquake and Avalanche when you use some of your shouts, which ties in quite nicely with the Might of the Earth set. You also might want to look for the Skular's Salvation bracers, or the Dread Iron belt. I know you like Frenzy, but hey...more free Avalanches.

Man, a lot has changed. last time I played, no cube, no Cow Level, and so on.

Now to choose what to play as. I'm used to playing Wizard (by far my most played class), I'll be playing solo, and I enjoy not having to kite - either being glass cannon and dieing occasionally (or just killing fast enough), or tanking it out....Wizard or DH? Or another Crusader? Hmmmmm.

Anyway, first to suggest something probably gets to choose what I play (for at least a while. I may end up switching if I don't enjoy it). Now then, let's see if with these journeys and whatnot I might finally be able to finish a set :p
