Movie News & Miscellany

Catching up on threads, but did you guys talk about how TMNT2 doesn't look like total ass?

Stephen Amell as Casey Jones? Baxter Stockman? Bebop and Rocksteady?

FUCKING TECHNODROME AND KRANG?

I'm still a bit skeptical because I saw how terrible the last one was, but I'm cautiously hopeful about this one. It feels like they heard the complaints about the previous movie and actually addressed them. It feels like they're going for a fun tone, the slight redesign of the Turtles makes them look better, and the Foot Clan actually look like ninjas, not to mention finally getting some classic TMNT villains on the big screen. My one worry is that they may potentially overstuff the movie, considering it'll have Shredder, Karai, Baxter Stockman, Bebop and Rocksteady, and Krang.

That actually looks pretty good. I may have to see the first one...
The first one had a couple good moments, but like the Transformers movies doesn't focus enough on the title characters in favor of the humans. This one's trailers seem to show that this won't happen again, and there's an overall lighter tone to the movie in general.

At this point I figure the trailer just has the best parts. Honestly I'm indifferent at this point, as long as it doesn't fuck with the awesome Nicktoon it can be as terrible as it wants.

I think I said this before, but my brother, whose movie tastes I trust--and who is a huge Turtles fan, sheepishly called me and confessed liking the first one after giving it a bunch of negativity pre-release. He's not the only person I've heard say that either.

Yeah, it's not a great movie, but it definitely doesn't deserve to get shit on like the Transformers movies. I still had fun watching it for the most part.

This is only tangentially movie news, but I didn't know where else to post it.

Coca Cola is looking to re-release friggin Ecto-Cooler to tie in with the new Ghostbusters movie.

This was obviously going to happen... but really, it's just a green colored version of their current Tangerine flavor, which is only slightly different than the original Ecto-Cooler. One of the reasons they changed the original recipe was because the green coloring made the drink stain clothes easily, while the tangerine coloring was designed to wash out easily.

I mean, Daredevil had some great shots, so it could be nice. The hallway fight scene and

Kingpin going apeshit with the car door on that guy's head

were really well-shot scenes that come to mind.

It's really weird news.

GDT isn't directing, Steven DeKnight of Spartacus and the first season of Daredevil is.

Guillermo seems excited so I see no reason not to be. Pacific Rim was big dumb loud action movie done right.
I am a fan of Spartacus, so I'm ok with this.

Imagine if Spartacus dialogue found its way into the movie though. "Jupiter's cock, these jaegers are worthless. Bring me a jaeger worthy of the name, and I shall make it a GOD!"

So Deadpool's worldwide gross after this weekend has just passed $600 million, apparently. I was trying to find the numbers for other cape movies, but only found national numbers.

Either way, though, the movie's doing insanely well and I'm glad for the folks behind it.

Well . . . Damn. He seemed to have the same kind of love for the project like Ryan did for Deadpool. Sandman is back in not so good Limbo. :(
The project isn't in limbo--it's going ahead with people who probably don't give a shit about the comics. Look forward to The Sandman police procedural a la Lucifer.

Same article, I see the new It adaptation is having the same issue; thrown to New Line and creative forward momentum leaves the project. Makes me wonder what the hell is going on over at New Line.

Are they trying to kill Harrison Ford? Off-camera injuries aside, he looked like he was struggling to run in both Crystal Skull and The Force Awakens. Maybe something that requires less physical demands might be better.
