Whats for Dinner?

"Fake" homemade pizza.

(Jack's Original Cheese pizza, with Hormel Italian Sausage crumbles, Turkey Pepperoni and shredded cheese.)

I've been eating nothing but restaurant and/or fast food for the past 13 days. I cannot wait to get to the grocery store tomorrow and restock my kitchen, and then probably cook myself comatose.

Not dinner, but lunch. And not home-made, but from a nice upscale bistro here in town: A nice spring green salad with an herb vinaigrette and candied pecans and apples, along with some locally produced chevre and freshly made bread.

That chevre--man, it smelled like armpits, but boy was it delicious.

It's kind of weird that there's not only one, but two upscale places to eat here in town (Market Table Bistro and Potowmack Farm), when we have a population of like 1000.

Pressure cookers are a Godsend when I don't have time to slow-cook things. Round meat comes out great, pork/chicken are easily shredded for tacos or sandwiches, and even stews come out amazing. It almost makes me feel lazy.

Ooh, shrimp sounds good. I've been keeping an eye on it when I got to the store, hoping it or maybe scallops will go on sale. I'd love to try my hand at a gumbo or a seafood stew before it gets too hot outside.

Milwaukee Burger Company down in Wausau. Their pub burger was good with applewood smoked bacon, but it was the SIDE that blew me away.

Poutine.

Yes. POUTINE. With genuine fresh (and HUGE) cheese curds, homestyle fries, and brown gravy.

My wife was giving me hell over how much I was savoring every bite of the stuff.

Primanti Bros. has introduced the HBK sandwich in honor of the Pens' HBK line. Ham, bacon, and kielbasa.

That plus a 23oz Yuengling, and I'm approaching food coma. Not that there's anything wrong with that. :)
/drool

We need an emoticon for that. For this thread at the least.

That looks massive!! Like a week's worth of eating.

Tonight I am making a brisket in the slow cooker on a bed of carrots, parsnips and baby potatoes. I can't eat much these days but this will be worth trying!
