[TV] Talk about the last TV you watched, the catchall thread

It kinda is yeah, thought Jeff leaving for that one season was...incredibly stupid, but still more character development than Family Guy for sure.

While the characters can have some GENERALLY off character eps, its weirdly enough not as bad as when Family Guy does it.

I don't mind him in small doses, the one exception being the one where he's on the alien mothership because that is a gem of an episode.

Personally I think the show does a great job of not over-exposing any one character. Everyone gets a decent amount of screen time and character-centric episodes, and even side characters like Steve's friends get the focus here and there. It's a surprisingly well-rounded show considering it started as Family Guy With Political Jokes.

Yeah I'd be amazed if it saw more than one season. I'm curious to check it out, but experimental stuff like that doesn't always sit well compared to the safe fat-guy-marries-hot-lady sitcom #7346583.

Well, everyone knew that was coming.
I really feel between the wedding and the solving of Beckett's mother's murder, they missed a great chance to end on a high note. I haven't seen the last part yet (hasn't aired in Belgium yet and the GF wants subtitles...) but, really, how many good episodes have we gotten since "Oh No Amnesia played completely straight LOL"? Castle used to make fun of such tropes but has recently completely succumbed to it. Episodes that don't touch the main story can have good moments but the moment Vikram or whatever appear I know it's all downhill.
I mean, I loved the first seasons of Castle, but it's really not what it used to be.

Should've ordered Forever season 2 instead.

Oh man you will die during Dinner Party. Which isn't until, like, season 4? Or something?

Did you ever watch the UK version?
Just watched Dinner Party.

Wasn't anywhere near as awkward as I was expecting.

e: Actually found the following episode to be more awkward, with Michael being a huge tool when it comes to dating.

e2: But oh gosh Jim and Pam. Jim and Pam you guys.

I haven't seen much mention of the show here, but I just got finished with the latest episode of Penny Dreadful.

One of the best 'Bottle Episodes" since Breaking Bad. Eva Green is tremendous.

So I mostly dug the PREACHER premiere. Had some issues with it, like Cassidy's introduction. Liking all the actors. I LOVE Tulip; that's perfect casting and introduction. It was ridiculously over the top in just the right PREACHER way. Still a little unsure about the guy that plays Jesse. He did a great job of playing the emotionally broken, faithless alcoholic. And he played a pretty good tough guy at the right time. And he and Cassidy have great chemistry, which is a must. So, jury's still out.

One thing I was unsure of at first but now rather like is the consolidation of several of the small towns visited throughout Preacher. Instead of meeting some of these wacky characters along the way, some of them already know and interact with Jesse right off the bat. Looks like we'll be in Annville for awhile and I'm kind of okay with that. This is a different kind of PREACHER, at least for now.

The slow build does rob us of a rather iconic moment from the first issue, but that's not to say it still can't happen.

Yeah my only real problem is the set location, and that its not gonna be the wicked awesome revenge road trip I remember, but the characters are all fine so I'm good. I think Tulip is a little more gung-ho than in the comics, but she's still cool.

It still could be. Who knows? Maybe the first season will be set in Annville and then it'll become a road trip after that? Though I kinda like how all the crazy just sort of draws itself to the town, like the angels and Cassidy. I get the feeling the folks after Cassidy are part of The Grail. But despite a lot of changes and deviations from the comic, you can't deny it still feels like Preacher.

So I finally got around to watching Archer season 6.

This feels like the weakest entry so far. Partly because one of the huge appeals of the show is that despite being a boob, Archer is extremely good at his job, and surprisingly intelligent. In season 6, it seems like they softened both of these. Archer didn't seem either as physically competent nor as intelligent.

Honestly, the show won me over with the news bulletin that Tom Cruise exploded.

I think the general consensus is also that Season 6 isn't the greatest, "but at least outlaw country isn't a thing anymore."

Yeah I didn't mind the failed-coke-dealer plotline for s5, but Cherlene/Cheryl/Cristal/etc is really only funny to me in tidbits and that season was a complete overload.

I do like that Kreiger finally started getting title-card billing, though. He's easily my favorite character.

Started watching Agents of SHIELD. It's ... a TV show.

Really it'd be fine as just an okay, kinda cheese show except for the fucking music. It's so over the top like every scene is the Biggest Deal. Makes the scenes hard to swallow.

Are there episodes I can skip until the point where shit starts to happen later in season 1?
