[TV] The What Anime Are You Watching Thread!

I just read an article on Kotaku praising the new Berserk anime as really good and superior to the 1997 anime.
By the way, is it just me or is the quality of anime productions dropping lately?

Is the sub of the Hunter x Hunter show better? Because I saw the dub and...yeah no thank you. Why does it seem half of Funimation's dubs have actual soul put into them, while the other half just feel SO cobbled together?

Yeah, it's good. I found the show starts pretty slow, though from what I hear it gets pretty great if you get past all the intro/test arc episodes.

Just don't get too invested. The author of the manga goes on hiatus more often than Berzerk's does.

Even without simulcast, CR generally has shows subbed pretty quickly. I wouldn't expect more than a day's delay, though odds are it'll be simulcast with how popular the series is here.

UGH- My Hero Acedemia just REEKS of stale accuracy, where its SO accurate that you wonder why you bothered watching a televised version of a comic you all ready read. I mean hell, maybe they'll wow me in a way different from the manga, I don't know, I just know the first ep did NOT give me a different impression from the manga...only that I hate Kacchan more some how.

Watched the first season of Kuromukuro (ancient aliens! giant samurai robots! high school! etc!) on Netflix. Has an interesting premise and raises a lot more questions than it answers, at least at first. Doesn't have the "hero that improves drastically during/between every battle" trope, which is nice for a change. Bit of a cliff hanger ending, we'll see if I remember it if they produce another season next year.

There's some good stuff so far this season. If you need something relaxing and fun, I suggest Amanchu! Rural highschoolers start up a diving club, and the art/animation is gorgeous.

[DOUBLEPOST=1468610665,1468610619][/DOUBLEPOST]If you're familiar with Aria, it's the same mangaka and director. Perfect show for winding down a long day.

I'd have said Irresponsible Captain Tylor but that's not on Crunchy Roll ether. They are great about having new stuff but they don't have a lot of classic anime.

Figured I'd make the effort. Bugs me that they refer to the Going Merry as a caravel. I guess technically the red and white striped tiny sail is lateen rigged, but the main is square rigged. Then again they have magic fruit and rubber people, so...

BE WARNED-the Skypeia arc is a TAD slow.

So I'm watching Stand Alone Complex all the way through for the first time.

I'm digging it mostly but I gotta say, the Major's outfit is fucking awful. Really God damn ridiculous. Some of the worst kind of pandering shit. Especially all the random close up ass shots. They're so out of place.

Masamune Shirow (the artist behind Ghost in the Shell) is quite well know for his pornographic and pin-up works, as well as delivering a similar amount of fan service in other works (try watching Dominion Tank Police). So it's not a case of them being random OR out of place, but rather that the creative mind behind the works is just doing what he always does.

I'm aware of the way the manga is. Stand Alone Complex's tone is much more toned down and solemn than the manga. It just doesn't fit the tone of the show. Dominion Tank Police is more comedy than anything.

Second season gets her in less ridiculous outfits for most of the time. Still has skin-tight pants of course, and plenty of butt-cam when she's getting into a Tachikoma, but it's a marked improvement.

She dresses a lot less often like this

And a lot more often like this -
