Fairly sure it took everyone by surprise, because of his "family man" demeanor on TV, and it's definitely not a commonplace occurrence.

It's hard to tell whether you're trying to insult me by suggesting I didn't read your post, or if you're just being purposefully obtuse because you can't defend your statement.
I'll take the charitable view, assume you aren't intentionally insulting my intelligence, and accept that you merely want to make ridiculous statements without criticism.

The humor, if you find it humorous, isn't in the violence or self harm I suggest, it's in making a fantastically, obviously stupid choice.
Gruebeard's comment isn't funny because rape is funny, or bill cosby's assaults on various women are funny. It's funny because putting a rapist in charge of a group of interns is the absolutely wrong thing to do.
You could switch it out with a lot of other bad people and bad positions. It would be similar to suggesting that Trump has hired Casey Anthony as childcare consultant for his staff, or George Zimmerman for security, or Hillary putting Bill in charge of her interns, or the NSA in charge of privacy legislation, or, or, or.
