You know what bugs me? The internet's (and specifically The Oatmeal's) Tesla/Edison grudge match that acts like Edison was some loser who did nothing good. That's baloney. Maybe he was a dick, and maybe he wasn't Tesla, but he was not stupid or unproductive either. The field of consumer electronics owes a lot to Edison. Not just the light bulb (and yeah, I know people argue all day about how much he contributed), but also the related experimentation, which led directly to Fleming developing the vacuum tube diode, which led to the vacuum tube valve, which led to semiconductor diodes and valves.

Not to mention there's something to be said for taking a product from invention to industrial product for the consumer. And for making people in general aware that research and innovation were valuable commodities in and of themselves.

Not just Edison, there's a lot of effort to discredit a lot of people we've long held in respect. It's not enough for some people to elevate others in the public consciousness, they also have to bring down others. It's an ugly tactic, but it works.[DOUBLEPOST=1471451282,1471451242][/DOUBLEPOST]Besides, herding nerds is hard.

We should still remember the very dickish things that Edison did, ESPECIALLY to Tesla, who basically built the foundations for a lot later important technology... technology we may have had decades sooner if Edison hadn't devoted his spare time to utterly destroying his competition. We should also teach about Tesla in schools, as he was basically left out for not being white... and teach about HIS flaws as well.

Edison did a lot of great stuff. He also did a lot of bad stuff. We should remember all of it.

I had honestly forgotten that Serbians used to not be considered white.

Today is our 9th wedding anniversary, but I can't enjoy it. My eye infection spread to both eyes, and while they're almost healed, they've very sensitive to the sunlight right now. Anytime I have to go out or drive the car, I get a massive headache. I can't even wear sunglasses because I can't put my contacts back in yet and I haven't had prescription sunglasses in a long time. Couple that with the fact I got 2 hours total sleep like nice (where the fuck did this dry cough come from?!?) and I'm a mess.

Good thing Mr. Z has to work today, and we planned to celebrate (woo, babysitter!) this Saturday instead.

You're a redhead, so you already steal souls.
I wonder how redheads feel when they go to steal a soul and find it's already been taken. Are they mad someone beat them to it, or is there a moment of appreciation for their fellow redhead's efforts? Is there a race to steal souls, and so redheads working in a maternity ward are well placed for their needs, or do souls become more valuable as they age? Pre puberty souls worth more or less than post puberty?

This raises so many questions.

I'm not allowed to tell; it's a Gingers-only secret. It's like Fight Club but with a lot of sunscreen.

According to my wife's redheaded twin, soul ownership goes to the last redhead to claim it before you die, so it's a game of constant re-staking (or simply murdering you).

I love leggings. They are pants.

Baggy leggings however are hideous and I went and got new ones on my way home today because one of my favourite pairs went baggy :(

Ok banks if you're gonna have bank tellers tell me that I can't really do deposits and withdraws with them and should use the ATM instead, maybe have more than one ATM so I don't have to wait for this guy who seems to have no idea how one works.

What bank is that? I've never had that problem.

Granted, I usually use the drive thru teller, and only rarely walk inside the bank, but I haven't done an ATM deposit in... almost 20 years.

A real, physical teller? A guy at a booth? Who gives you money? Where you don't have to make an appointment and only for serious business? Man, labor in the USA really is still cheap, huh? :p
