That said..you also get dinged for "under utilization"..the sweet spot is somewhere between 20%-35%. Or at least that was the case like 15 years ago when I last did a lot of research on boosting my credit.
And, you'll get dinged if you hold a lot of card with low limits. So if you have like 5 credit cards, but they're all like 250-500 limits, you'll get a ding, because it theoretically shows that lenders aren't willing to trust you with more credit. Which is dumb, because it's nearly the same as having one card with a 2500 limit. Except you're paying more every month, because you'll have 5 monthly minimum payments instead of one. The monthly minimum on 1 maxed out 2500 card is less than 5 minimums of $25 (which is usually the standard at most credit card companies).
I have 3 CCs, my wife has 1, they're always paid off in time. I think we've paid about $6 of interest, and I'm hoping we manage to keep that number there.
Whatever any of you do, try to steer clear of Synchrony Bank, formerly GE Capital Credit. I had three cards with them (Lenscrafters, Care Credit, and Amazon Store Card), and the only one that's still open is the Amazon card, which they've dropped the credit limit on twice without so much as contacting me to tell me they'd done it - I found out when my credit monitoring service pinged me to tell me that my limit had been reduced and my credit score dropped 30+ points. They also closed my Care Credit account as soon as I paid it down to a zero balance - which was my first payment - again without contacting me in any way.

I agree that Hobby used to be nasty, but it's gotten much nicer. Still not a place I like to leave my car, though.

This is the fella in his new Loot Crate shirt. He went to the grocery store for me wearing it.
So while he's waiting in line, he notices that this 50-something lady is staring daggers at him and muttering. So he tries to listen and figure out why she's so mad.
